"The staff were friendly and nice - and we greatly appreciated the dry room that was available for use in October (we were also the only ones using it and there was sufficient room for my group of 6). "Good location and lots of space. Had really nice communal areas. Nice and clean and tidy."

"We stayed here for two nights, before and after our Tongariro Crossing trip. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Check in and communication was straightforward. The ear plugs left on the table came in handy as the property is located next to a fairly busy road and trucks transporting cars stop and do their driver change-over next to it. Also the carpet in the room could do with a refresh as it does not smell very nice."

"Great accommodations. Near good restaurants, within driving distance from Tongariro (our reason for visiting this area), clean, comfortable beds. Only drawback is that there's only one bathroom for two couples. However, the toilet is in its own room - separate from the shower, but with a sink for hand-washing in each room. That made this facility workable for us. Highly recommend."

"We were upgraded from a 2 bedroom to a 5 bedroom (we still only used 2 bedrooms) but had a nice large house with a fireplace. Loved coming in from the snow to a cosy house. "

"When you pull up it doesn’t look very inviting and a bit dated BUT when you enter the apartment you will be blown away! All brand new appliances, beautifully decorated, and spacious!!! Highly recommend."

"The River Lodge is a beautiful property set in lovely grounds. We had a large beautiful room, very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and a balcony with a wonderful view of the mountain. We had fabulous breakfasts and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only downside is that it is quite remote - about a 10 minute drive into Ohakune."
