This very private, romantic, ocean view and cliffside Mendocino cottage is a spacious split-level set as close to the ocean as possible so as to take full advantage of the dramatic setting. The soothing sounds of the ocean waves rolling in and crashing against the rocks below will make you feel like you are on your own private island.
This gem of a house has romantic, private, and truly million dollar expansive views of the ocean from every room. The view through the French doors is truly breathtaking. A wrought iron spiral staircase ascends to the upstairs oversized King bed. The fireplace also has an amazing view of the ocean. The night time sky reveals a starry sky unpolluted by city lights. The kitchen is fully functional with pots and pans, gas stove & oven, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. We also have an assortment of spices, but please feel free to bring whatever you need. We also have a washing machine and dryer for use.
This home is close driving distance to the village of Mendocino, Fort Bragg, Point Arena as well as the renowned Anderson Valley wine country.

This, one of a kind house is an ideal getaway for a honeymoon, anniversary, or that much needed and deserved time off. You will understand why guests call this home 'Desire' and why they all tell us they will be back next year!

Perfect coastal hideaway
My fiance and I couldn't have loved this house more than we did. Falling asleep to the sound of waves every night, waking up to seeing the gorgeous ocean right outside of our windows, the cozy hottub, awesome shower water pressure, yummy complementary bottle of Cava... I could go on and on. BOOK IT! :)

Perfect honeymoon
Easy to find with directions given. Great place for a couple to disconnect and enjoy each others company. Was planning on using the grill, but due to it sitting idle on the coast, it was too rusty and therefore did not feel like it was safe to cook on. I had to bring up a maintenence concern and the owner was very responsive. All in all, we would definitely come back. The view is incredible.

Stunning ocean view!
This place is perfect for a weekend getaway! The best thing about it is the stunning view of the ocean. We loved sitting on the deck and watching the waves, the sunset, and the stars at night. We also enjoyed the spacious loft. Our nights were warm and cozy up there! This is a lovely cabin, but it needs maintenance and repairs. The deck is a little unstable so you need to be careful when stepping outside. The wooden door and window frames also need attention. The elements are pretty harsh out there! We loved our stay and look forward to visiting again. The owner left a bottle of cava for us in the fridge, such a nice treat! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Location was great. No neighbors quite street. A awesome view of the ocean. House needs a little TLC. The back doors wouldn’t lock. You could see the wood rot outside. We wished there was a TV downstairs. We got good at using the stairs. The shower is very hard to get out of. My husband was unable to take a shower. Step up to high. A heater in the bathroom would be nice floor was cold. Kitchen was good and a nice laundry room. The hot tub was really nice I had a bad fall in the house it made my muscle and bruises feel good. The champagne was a very nice gift. We would go back again we would be more prepared, a stool for the shower.

Location was amazing! Even though it rained most of the time I was there it was such a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the rain. And when I could get out on the deck I did. The view was incredible and the place had everything I needed.

Beautiful stay
First of all, what a stunning view from this beautifully reclusive spot. Was a perfect location to get to all places, Mendecino, Fort Bragg, etc. The view of the ocean could NOT have been better. The house was clean and comfortable and the host even left us a beautiful bottle of sparking wine. Such a treat. I would note, for anyone that has access issues, the spiral stairs and shower could pose a little bit of an issue as the house could use for some updating. But overall, it was extremely comfortable and relaxing.

This is exactly what you're looking for in a small getaway cabin. The whole space is warm and is engulfed by the ocean view. Everything is exactly as nice as it is shown and I will be returning likely this winter to fully embrace the cabin life

The cottage was roomy and we liked the fact that there was a full size refrigerator and dishwasher. The view was great. Being seniors, the shower was difficult to get in and out of. The spiral stairs were treacherous. The deck was not secure and was spongy in spots. However we still had a nice time.

We love our little getaway!
This is our second time staying at Desire and we just love it. Some things were different this time around. It smelled very musky and closed up and we were greeted with LOTS of spider webs to the face going up the stairs and getting in the shower. We opened up the house and cleaned up the webs and we were just fine. We love waking up to hearing and seeing the ocean. We took a walk in the neighborhood this year and LOVED the scenery, the wildlife and we made a little fox friend. It’s a short drive to so many fun day activities. We did the Pygmy Forest hike, spent the day in Fort Bragg, went into Mendocino and did the tour of Point Cabrillo lighthouse. We love our home away from home!

Coastal Peace
The house was perfectly sized for a couple and we loved hanging out and looking at the view or just relaxing. We mostly ate in, which was great, and the hot tub was a daily treat as was the shower pressure! August is foggy here, but when the sun was present it was glorious! It was a wonderful week on the coast!

Very nice location
We stayed in the Ocean View Desire house for 2 nights during a recent trip to Mendocino. The view from the deck, over the ocean is amazing. And the hot tub was in the perfect spot to watch the ocean and the waves hit the rocks. I would say, however, the cabin could use some updates. The bathroom is pretty outdated, including a door that doesn’t fully close and a super short toilet from 30yrs ago. The bathroom needs a decent overhaul to be comfortable. The deck and balcony are also pretty shaky. While they are ‘usable’ they are pretty wobbly with old rotted wood. The front porch is similar. The bed is also super low to the ground. It could use a standard box spring so it doesn’t feel like a college mattress on the floor. Even with the bedroom on the upper level and bathroom on the main floor, it works. But some of those areas just need updating to get the comfort level of the house to match that awesome ocean view. I do not think I’d stay again for that same price, but would if it was about 40% cheaper.
