Hotel Plantage in Amsterdam - Excellent stay.
Just back from 3 nights at the Plantage. We stayed in room 15, our friends were in 22 and room 34 in the attic. Excellent stay, 15 minutes walk from Red Light district, Rembrandtplein and 20 minutes walk from Central Station. The Number 9 tram can take you to Dam Square in 5 minutes from just around the corner. The receptionist/ Manager very welcoming on arrival explained all that was close by for food beer and cigarettes. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable and bedding clean. Clean towels on arrival and a good sized bathroom. Excellent stay and we will be going back. We had the front door key and could come and go as we pleased. Thank you.

Quiet spot in a great location!
We had a wonderful time at Hotel Plantage. We had a great corner room with lots of windows and breezes. Even leaving the windows open each night though, we still slept late and soundly because of its quiet location. Easy access to central Amsterdam via the tram lines or just by walking for the more adventurous. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful and had no problem with us checking our bags with the desk the day we checked out while we had a final day in the city. The cafe beneath our room was also very convenient, and we spent many mornings having a coffee and people watching. We loved our trip to Amsterdam and would certainly stay in this hotel again.

Steps from the Tram
The owners were extremely accomodating. The room was large by European standards. We only got one key (well two, one for the room and one for the front door), we had to get the desk to let us in a few times. We didn't lock the room when we were in it. The location on the tram made getting around easy until after midnight. It cost about $12 US for a cab from the entertainment areas after then. There is a cafe/bar downstairs from the hotel. In the afternoon the locals from the university come for a drink, but don't stay late.

Plantage Hotel - 2 stops away from Rembrandt Sq.
The night staff person was amicable and helpful. He checked me in, provided me with helpful information about the locale and travel and provided me a complimentary power socket convertor for use as I had left mine in Turkey. I stayed in room 24 which was one of the attic rooms. I believe the hotel has between 23 and 26 rooms available. The hotel is the sort of slightly upgraded hostel type that is located all over Europe. It is a normal townhome type building located in a city block. it is not free standing and is entirely vertical. Due to the age of the building I doubt there is any way to add an elevator so if you have heavy or large luggage you may have difficulty going up and down the narrow stairs. However if you have light luggage or backpacks it is no trouble at all. The only real separation between a nice hostel and this hotel was the single, reasonably large room and personal bathroom facilities. However, given that it is priced closely to the "higher end" hostels it is quite worth the price for a personal room and bathroom. The room was clean if a bit dated and overlooked the city. The internet was free, wireless, and fairly responsive which I consider quite a perk in Europe. The linens and towels were clean and well prepared but some of the towels were more of an off white an a white from age and laundering; this fact did not bother me in the slightest, I merely used them as floormats. There was a desk, small refrigerator, television, and plenty of power outlets available. The sink and toilet were quite close in my room; but the bathroom was a good size overall. The room is only serviced upon request while you stay which I appreciated but it should be of note to others if they wish their room serviced daily. It is located minutes from Rembrandt Square and right in front of the 9 and 14 tram lines which lead all over town as well as back tot he central station where you can catch another affordable train to the airport. It took me apprxoimately 20 minutes to travel from the Airport to the Central Station and another 10 or 15 minutes at most to travel by tram from the central station to the hotel. It is minutes away from the food and entertainment located in Rembradt Square and only a few minutes more from such places as Madame Toussad's, Dam Square and the Torture Museum. If you are looking for local attractions the Red Light District is located directly east of Dam Square and Anne Frank's House is located directly west making the hotel quite convenient for travel. It is well within walking distance of everything for anyone even vaguely fit. Overall I was impressed with the Plantage Hotel and would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable, comfortable, private hotel with free internet and more than reasonable accomodations for only slightly more than the cost of a hostel. As I noted it is more of a high end hostel or quaint local affaire than a standard "hotel" ala the Holiday Inn or Hilton or such. I would recommend it primarily to a younger crowd as it is not suited for business meetings or conferences but it could easily be suited to the lone business traveler who is not looking to stay in a Marriott or Crowne Plaza or such. I was a lone business traveler but I am also in my late 20s. It could be well suited to a young couple traveling Europe or friends traveling Europe. Have a great day!

The Hotel is just OK, the location is good, you can do somethings walking and there is a Tram stop on corner. The day Staff is very good and support, but the nigth Staff is terrible and stupid. And play attetion at the stairs, dont go with to many bags our heavy bags.

Good budget hotel but noisy
Very helpful hotel management staff, was given lots of useful information on arrival. The room wasn't spotless clean but wasnt too bad either, bathroom was ok. The worst was the noise. You could hear nearly every word from the neighbours' room and hear every single step from the room above. So ideally book top floor rooms! The pillow was undomfortable... Apart from that -ok. Location was convenient - 10 mins walkto the center or a few mins by tram which is just outside the hotel.

Very nice neighbor hood and staff!
If you don't mind walking a little this hotel is perfect and the staff is very helpful. Be mindful that you have a key to come and go and the staff never enters your room while you are there. Smoking is allowed (all substances) and it may affect your stay, but our room didn't have much of a smell and it's right across the street from the zoo!

A very narrow winding stairs were hard to negotiate. The room had a view from the window and the area quiet.It's bathroom was very small even for one person. The floor of the bathroom had water which did not empty. The waste bin was not cleaned after the previous guest. Decided not to stay there and moved to another hotel nearby.

Adorable Tiny Attic Room with View
We stayed in the two twin bed attic room and while it was tiny and basic, we absolutely loved it! It was perfect for two people on a budget who weren't going to spend that much time there anyway. It had a wonderfully large angled window with a nice view and the room was very clean. It is about an 8 minute walk from the red light district (this was a good thing--MUCH quieter area at night) and had a good cafe right next to it for breakfast in the morning. Only thing to be aware of: this hotel does not have a lift and the stairs are unbelievably steep. If you have any kind of physical limitations or object to pulling your suitcase up four very steep flights of stairs, look elsewhere. The hotel was inexpensive, suited our needs, and to be honest, the stairs made a good story in the end.

I stayed at this hotel for one week and I had a nice week. The staff are really nice and gave me some tips about location to visit and helped me booking trips outside the city. I have seen other review about the hotel and everything bad about room was from the attic's room, so i didn't take it and I have nothing bad to say about the room I had. The room was exactly as it was in room description of the hotel. I will come to this hotel again when I will come back to Amsterdam.

Vi åkte fyra grabbar utan några förväntningar, det var ju inte särskillt dyrt. I receptionen möttes vi av en aningen dåsig herre som tog oss igenom den konstigaste in-checkningen vi någonsin varit med om. det var till exempel ingen ide´att komma och ställa frågor i onödan, endast i yttersta nödfall?; only in Amsterdam. Rummet för fyra personer var helt okej. Gott om utrymme, toalett med dusch, tv. In till red-light och fest/pub-kvarteren tar det ca 10-15min att gå. Området som hotellet ligger på är ganska dött. Helt okej för ett stort gäng som åker utan några förväntningar på boendet. Ingenting för dig som tycker service och hotellstandard är viktigt.

Skal du bare have et værelse at sove i, selv rede din seng og gøre rent og nyde byens charme og mangfoldighed er det et udmærket valg. Gå afstand til det hele. Sporvogn lige neden for døren. Morgenmad kan indtages lige om hjørnet. Det blev et charmerende ophold i Amsterdam trods startbesværligheder. Da vi rejste fik vi en en behagelig venlig afsked med personalet som passede i overensstemmelse med Amsterdams charme.

Hotel um pouco afastado do centro, entretanto de facil acesso e possibilidade de se deslocar a pe ao centro de amsterdam. Todos os dias de minha estada andei somente a pe, sem a necessidade de transportes urbanos ou o aluguel de bicicletas.

per chi non ha petese
per raggiungere l'hotel si puo prendere il tram 9 o 14 devanti alla stazione e scendere alla 1^ fermata del viale plantage. l'hotel è li a pochi metri, in una bella zona residenziale. Adattissimo a chi ha pochi bagagli: non esiste ascensore e le scale sono ripide; peraltro è vicinissimo a diverse attrazioni di Amsterdam. Il personale è gentilissimo e disposto a aiutare li ospiti un pò disiorentati. Le stanze nel sottotetto non sono grandissime e decenti ma dotate di bagno privato ( meglio non essere pià alti di 170 cm. per entrare in doccia). Per me che sono stata pochisime notti è andato bene.

Hotel PLANTAGE à Amsterdam
Hôtel très proche du centre ville, accueil agréable. Personnel "multilingue" d'après l'annonce, seulement 2 langues sont parlées: le néerlandais et l'anglais! "bilingue" serait plus adapté! Chambre impeccable. Prix plus qu'attractif. Chambre très bien équipée.
