Browse the stalls of licensed hawkers for discounted electronics, photography equipment and fabrics at this traditional street market.

Experience an authentic Hong Kong shopping scene at the Apliu Street Market. Stretching through the Sham Shui Po district, the Apliu Street Market is the place to purchase electronic goods. Shops spill out onto the streets and hawkers set up stands jam-packed with wares to create a bustling, often chaotic retail environment. The market is notable for being one of few in Hong Kong that offers fixed pitches for licensed vendors.

Wander the street to discover all manner of new and second-hand electronics and electronic-related products. From alarm clocks, headphones and torches, to cables, mobile phone accessories and power tools, market-goers have hundreds of opportunities to pick up a bargain. See some stalls draped with LED strip lights and fairy lights and others piled high with telephones. Spot second-hand homeware appliances such as fans, rice cookers and vacuum cleaners.

Besides the electronics, vendors sell saucepans, woks and other cookware in addition to key rings of all colors, shapes and sizes. Those with a sharp-eye for antiques can find collectible items such as coins and watches. Backpacks, laptop bags and fabrics, which are sold by the yard, are also on offer. Be sure to linger next to a stall and observe as customers engage in bargaining battles with the vendors.

Give yourself a break from busy retail activity at the Maple Street Playground, which splits the street into two sections. This recreation area is where locals come to play basketball and soccer and children have fun at a small playground. A tree-shaded area with benches offers a welcome respite from the hot sun. Low-key restaurants spread along the street and are perfect for sampling Chinese and Japanese fast food.

Businesses on Apliu Street Market are open daily. Get here by taking the subway to Sham Shui Po station, which is a 15-minute train journey from the Tsim Sha Tsui district. Several public bus lines stop in the area as well. Drivers can use one of many metered car parks located nearby.
