Cove Beach Cottage is perched on a hill, with a beautiful view of the ocean. It overlooks Cove Beach, just a 3-minute walk away. Located between Cannon Beach and Manzanita, the cottage is surrounded by the old-growth forests of Oswald West State Park. Parts of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Sanctuary are visible from the living room. Enjoy a BBQ or the sound of the ocean from the deck. Or watch shooting stars at night from the new 2023 Marquis 3-person hot tub located on the deck.
Cove Beach is one of the least-known beaches on the Northern Oregon Coast. Watch pelicans and cormorants from the living room window as they roost on Castle Rock, part of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Sanctuary. During low tide, a vast sand beach is exposed at Cove Beach. It is common to have the entire two-mile beach to yourself a rare treat not only for Oregon, but for most of the world. During high tide, there is not much sand exposed, but you can drive one mile to Arch Cape Beach where there is always sand. Or, within 6 miles to the south, you can visit Manzanita Beach, a stretch of seven miles of beach.
Cove Cottage is comfortable and well equipped, with fireplace, 2023 Samsung 43" TV and Dobly Soundbar for your viewing and listening pleasure, and WIFI. It is simple, comfortable, and pleasant. The 1500 square foot cottage home features a panoramic ocean view, an expansive deck with BBQ and hot tub, a large great room, 3 bedrooms, and an upstairs/loft with spiral staircase, all new appliances, gorgeous wood floors, and an 1100 square foot deck made from sustainably harvested Red Balau Mahogany.
PLEASE NOTE - The second floor two small bedrooms (one with two twin beds and the other with a queen bed) are in a loft with a sloping roof, so very tall people may find it cumbersome. The upstairs bedrooms are without closets. The gambrel design of the cottage makes it unique and charming.
These 2nd floor bedrooms are accessible by a spiral staircase which some guests may find awkward--in particular carrying luggage or a child up the spiral stairs. Children under 8 years of age should not be allowed on the stairs unsupervised.
NOTE - Both bathrooms are downstairs. If these features would be limiting and uncomfortable for you or your guests, we suggest you find alternate accommodations.
Leisure activities include beachcombing, bird watching, tidal pooling, whale watching, wildlife viewing, and walks in the forest. In Manzanita and Cannon Beach, there are opportunities for horseback riding, golfing, sand dune walks, and scenic drives on 101. The coast further away has deep sea fishing, cycling, kayaking, mountain biking, surf fishing, tennis, windsurfing, and sand sailing.
Nearby within several miles are the communities of Cannon Beach and Manzanita, with coffee shops, restaurants, post office, and grocery stores. Downtown Manzanita offers shops, restaurants, cafes, a public library, tennis, and Manzanita Golf Course. Nehalem Bay is wonderful for Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP), kayaking, and fishing.
Adjacent to Oswald West State Park, several trails provide dramatic views of Cape Falcon Marine Reserve and the Cape’s wildlife. Enjoy Short Sands beach for beach walking, agate hunting, tide pooling, kayaking, scuba diving, surfing, and wildlife viewing.
