Quaint seasonal cabin on the southwest shore on AuTrain Lake

This AuTrain Lake cabin located only 30 minutes from Marquette and minutes from Munising is on the edge of the Hiawatha National Forest offers all seasons of activities. A 12 mile drive you'll be on the doorstep of the Pictured Rocks Lakeshore. Our quaint cabin offers both a rustic and modern feel and is just 25 feet from the shore of AuTrain Lake for a breathtaking view. It's also 3.5 miles from the most beautiful beach on Lake Superior where the river empties into the great lakes largest body of water. A short 12 mile drive to Munising, you will be at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. A relaxing scenic 30 mile drive along Superior takes you to Marquette, the largest U.P. city, is full of excitement with it's famous brewpubs, restaurants, historic homes, buildings, and culture, with multiple activities and the most beautiful lake Superior shoreline with it's parks and sandy pristine beaches.

Enjoy the sunrises with coffee inside the cabin, or on the outside decks with wicker furniture, or a beverage by a fire on the water, as the moon rises across the lake. You will love the picturesque lake views of the north, east, and southern skylines. Viewing the Northern Lights is alway possible from our dock that extends 65 feet into the lake. With a water frontage of approximately 100 feet, you may moor your boat on the dock for water fun. Summer months invite guests to multiple water adventures, whether you enjoy swimming, kayaking, fishing, or motor sports, this cabin is for you. If you enjoy nature, the AuTrain Songbird Trail is just a short drive around the lake to AuTrain Campground and features a 2 mile interpretive hiking loop with twenty bird species. The North Country Trail crossing is just south a half mile for hiking adventures close to the cabin.

Let's not forget the areas biggest attraction, canoeing or kayaking down the slow moving and meandering AuTrain River to Lake Superior. This trip takes approximately three to six hours and area rentals are available.

As the Fall colors take center stage when the cool fall air rolls in, guests will enjoy hiking, kayaking, hunting (duck, grouse, deer) and sharing stories by the camp fire.

In winter as the colors give way to the white powdery snow covered ground, guests will enjoy Alger County's Vally Spur, where you can ski, snowshoe, bike, hike and enjoy nature. Snowmobilers are able take advantage of Superior's lake effect snow with it's nationally acclaimed groomed trails accessible right from your front door.

When you're ready to turn in from the days activities, you will find a cozy living area with many amenities. If you're looking to catch up on news or your favorite tv show, a 55 inch smart television provides viewing pleasure for all. The kitchen features a gas stove, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher.

This cabin has one bedroom in the lower level, with a full size bed and wall mounted Roku 43 inch smart television and gas fire place. Great property and location
The property was exactly as pictured and perfect for our stay. The water and swim area by the dock exceeded our expectations. We weren’t able to use them due to cold and rainy weather during our stay but the little sand walk in area as well as the dock with stairs into the water would be perfect for swimming at the property as well as kayaking on a calm leg of the lake. The location in AuTrain made it centrally located to the other UP attractions we were able to see and near the M28 scenic drive we took to see them. Nearby beach access, little grocery and a good and ice cream place. AuTrain river kayaking (easy and great) is right down the road and Munising is a short 20 minute drive. This property really gave us our own slice of the UP with everything else close. The owner was very kind and easy to work with as well. We would very much like to come back in the future and would stay here again.

Home away from home!
We had an amazing stay. The cabin is so spacious on the inside. The accommodations were fantastic, everything was well stocked and we really didn't need much. The view is fantastic. The check in process could not have been easier. This was my first vrbo stay, so I was hesitant about this part. The owner was so helpful in recommending restaurants and things to do. They even notified us that we could check in early. Something I did not expect to love so much were the locals! Literally the nicest people you could meet and everyone was helpful. Highly recommend booking a kayaking tour with Northern Waters Adventures. We can't wait to come back!

Great Place and Owner
We had a great trip. Cabin was fantastic, clean, comfortable and fully stocked with whatever we could have needed. Phil was great with providing information about the area and communicating with us. It's an ideal property for exploring pictured rocks and the local area. Just a short drive from town, but you feel like you're a world away when you return to the lake house. It was the shoulder season, so we literally had the place to ourselves. Not a person in sight at the cabin save for a few boats and kayakers passing by on the lake every now and then. Got to use the provided kayaks on au train, do some fishing and watch the birds and waterfowl in the mornings & evenings. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks so much for a great trip!

Great cabin close to everything
Great cabin. Loved staying on the lake and using the kayaks and building a camp fire each night. It was a quick drive to Munising for food and activities. Wish it had another toilet but the five of us worked it out.

Great family cottage
This cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Right on the lake with kayaks and a canoe for your use. This was not a stripped down rental property but a family cottage being rented out. We had an excellent stay. The internet TV was great for a cabin in a sparsely populated area. Contact with Phil and Eric by text was easy and quick. When we have reason to come to the UP in the future, we would surely try to stay here again.

Peaceful and Fun Wrapped Up in One
This cabin was welcoming even before we opened the door! It had everything we needed and them some. The sunrises over the lake were breathtaking as well as watching the night sky while sitting around the firepit. We even saw a glimpse of the Northern Lights one night! We had a perfect amount of adventure and relaxation while staying here and exploring the UP. I would recommend Pictured Rocks Kayaking and Kimar Charters for fishing on Lake Superior. Grab the Hiking and Waterfalls brochure and go exploring! Our family favorite waterfall was AuTrain Falls just a few miles down the road from the cabin. We miss this cabin already and hope to come back again someday! Thank you Phil and Eric for being such excellent hosts!!!

Great Location in the UP and great cottage
This cottage had great amenities and we loved the location. We are a family of 5 and the space was perfect for us. At the cottage we enjoyed boating, kayaking, bond fires, playing games and more. The location is close to many activities like pictured rocks, Marquette, Munising and we visited all of them. Thank you to Phil for the recommendations and great communication. We hope to be back!

Au Train dream vacation
We’ve had an amazing time here. From swimming in the lake to kayaking stories and jokes by the fire to day trips and hiking the wonderful parks and forests, trying pasties, smoked fish, fish sausage and of course ice cream, UP offered a unique experience and Phil’s Hiawatha cabin offered the best place to stay. Highly recommended to everyone traveling to UP.

Hidden Jem with beautiful lake view/access
We cannot say enough nice things about our trip to Au Train, MI and this rental property. Everything was just perfect! The location is central to the many natural wonders of the UP. We made the short drive to Marquette, MI all the way over to Chapel Rock. There is plenty to do if you enjoy hiking and seeing beautiful waterfalls. The property is close to Au Train Falls which made for 3 easy trips to walk in the water. The family especially loved kayaking in the Au Train Lake and down the Au Train River. There is much wildlife to experience and the water is so very clear. The property was clean, and had everything we needed during our stay. Phil was helpful in helping us plan our activities and was very quick to respond when we had questions. This is perfect place to stay for all ages. Our kids 11 and 13 had a blast. Thanks Phil for your hospitality. Derek, Paula, Wyatt and Arianna

Communication with the owners was amazing The cabin was very clean and the pier was great I loved sitting in the deck every morning having my coffee Bugs were pretty bad but we dealt with it If I had any advice it would be to power wash the under side of the deck before guests arrive I have two kids who absolutely hate spiders, but again the cabin inside was lovely and clean and had everything we needed

Great stay in the UP
Phil was a wonderful host. He was great at communicating with us and even provided us with some fantastic recommendations of things to do in the area. The property is very clean, well stocked with anything you might need for your stay, centrally located for many things to do in the area, and the cabin views can’t be beat! The ONLY change I would recommend is a queen or king bed in the master bedroom. I think the bunk bed would be great for children but not so much for adults. We ended up using the pull out couch in the living room which was surprisingly comfortable and woke up to beautiful views every morning. I left my camera charger and before I even realized I’d left it, Phil had contacted me and offered to send it back to me. Truly a wonderful host! We had a great stay and would love to come back!
