We stayed for 1 week in July 2016. Our hosts (limited english) were a charming, thoughtful and kind couple who made our stay special, and are very highly recommended. They provided some food, brought gifts, hung a baby swing, cared about the children and we wished we could talk with them more. They live next door, but give you absolute privacy and we suspect Teresa even cleaned once. Amazing.
They have terrific taste. The villa feels like a brand new, fully furnished but vacated home, not a rental property. It has everything you might need: washing machines, barbecue, wifi, coffee pots, oil, salt, herbs, televisions, DVDs, washing powder, etc. All bedrooms have air conditioning. The fittings are all first class. The pool is on a stand, not submerged. So it is small but our young children (5, 3) preferred that. There are 3 hammocks, almond trees, a pomegranate tree and an immature garden which the children enjoyed exploring.
The location is superb for exploring the area. Cannot be bettered. You are away from the crowds in a remote location but only 4 min drive to supermarket, 10 mins to beaches, and if you want a rural base for exploring this is excellent. We spent days out, and only returned to the villa later as the heat receded, to barbecue, read in the hammocks etc. There are views from the tower. Inland from the sea here it is a little too hot (for Brits) to spend the day at the villa. The outdoors gets hot, dry, brown and dusty in high summer here. It is cooler and more attractive indoors. But if you want culture or beaches, base yourself here.
This is not a crowded or glamorous area, it is a stunning rural retreat near the cultural heart of Sicily, and excellent value. It's a gorgeous home deserving respect with first class hosts to whom we are very grateful.
