"The rooms were old and needed major upgrades. The beds were ancient. The stairs up and down, little hallways, and more stairs, throughout the hotel were like a maze. The bartenders and wait staff were excellent and the location was good. But there are much better choices for the amount we paid."

"From the moment we arrived we were very impressed with this hotel, grounds and surroundings. From the friendly doorman to Dermot the concierge who took our bags, ordered our taxis etc, to the lovely receptionists and that was before we took in the beautiful decor, comfort and layout of bars and restaurants and before we got to our bedroom which was more like a suite as was huge with a lovely view of the estate. The food was excellent and it was lovely to chill in the little bar area at reception...

We arrived late after delays and 35 hours of travel and were welcomed with great hospitality.. The homemade breakfast was delicious and the bed was so comfortable. It is a short drive to all the things in Kilkenny. I would highly recommend. "
