I brought the superior room for my boyfriend and I, I was quite disappointed with what was presented for the money I spent. On the itinerary it said there would be complimentary water and toiletries. There were only hand wash and conditioner. The ceiling above the shower had mould. The shower had poor pressure. The curtains weren't hung properly as the hooks were broken so they drooped in the middle. The breakfast was nice although there wasn't much selection other than cereal, full English and toast. The staff were nice enough although didn't ask how we were or if we were having a good stay so we felt quite uncomfortable in the dining area. I know these are all little things however when you pay almost £200 for 2 nights you do expect a little more attention to detail.

Turned up at 4pm and the place was locked and had to call for them to open up. Very quiet location and traditional looking pub. I stayed in a room in the main building which was small, and a bit tired. Positives - beautiful area, nice staff Negatives - not as good as it looks in the photos

Rooms are lovely in what is like an annex above the pub and restaurant. The manager gave us one of these rooms when we asked him instead of the rooms that are outside around the back,as we didn’t want a room with a balcony.Full English Breakfast is also excellent

Location. Shower water could have been warmer & better pressure. Plenty of space in room. Appreciated the fan . Friendly staff. Couldn’t understand the pub closed midday when there were plenty of guests.

Loved being able to have dinner at the restaurant, have a few cocktails in the courtyard, and walk upstairs to our newly refurbished room. Loved our stay! The young man who worked the entire time of our stay made sure we had all of the amenities we needed. The breakfast was amazing. It was a great place to stay if you are wanting to visit Bampton and walk around the areas in which Downton Abbey was used for filming. We were also only 15-20 minutes from "Bourton on the Water" if you are wanting to stroll around the Cotswolds. I am a very picky traveler. I don't usually trust places that are given a 3 star especially given the price. This is a great bargain for your dollar and they definitely earned a 3.5 from me. Our children stayed in one of the rooms out back. It was nice as well, but our room (inside) had been updated and redone. Thank you.

The location was good as it was near to the venue. Lovely village pub. Pub wasn’t open till 17:00, so after breakfast the only facilities you had was in your room. Kept running out of stock at breakfast and behind the bar.

Basil Fawlty Hotel Special!
Where do we start? Arrived Thursday around 5pm. Checked in, given room 4. Went upstairs, room hadn’t been cleaned or made up. Went downstairs, told staff, apology and advised a problem with housekeeping. Offered a drink while we waited - but charged! The room was roughly made up, obviously in a hurry. The next morning at breakfast we asked for 2 extra pillows, and clean towels. When we arrived back from our day out at about 9pm, the room had not been touched - no cleaning, no bed tidy, no clean towels, and no more pillows. As we were tired we made the best of the situation. Saturday breakfast started at 8.15, ordered cooked breakfast and waited, and waited, and waited. The restaurant was not particularly busy. 50 minutes later we had to go as our taxi had arrived - only having had a drink and some toast. Returned about 8pm, our room had not been touched again. Went to complain, spoke with another guest-her room hadn’t been cleaned for 2 days either. Spoke with staff who said would sort it out. They came to our door, we waited in the bar, and received complimentary hot drinks. 10 minutes later given our key back. Went to our room to discover just the the bed covers pulled up and clean towels placed on the bed. Went down again for more milk, extra loo rolls, and extra pillows. 1 pillow and 2 loo rolls arrived. Not to mention the taped up fire/smoke alarm. One of the worst places we have stayed. Would never stay here again, and suggest no one else does else does either.
Room not made up for 2 days!
‘Rats nest’ of wires - there were 2 nests!

Poor vaule for money
When we arrived just after 3pm. The kid behind the bar looked like he didnt want to be there, instead of him taking us to our room he told us where to go. Annex was covered in dust and had sequins all over the carpet and floor. Carpets could do with a clean. Curtains filthy Bathroom is a wet room no shelf to out your tolietries on also doety bathroom.Windows couldn't be left open and someone could come in. No safety lock for the windows. Fridge mouldy. Could go on. Food in the evening is at 6:30pm we wasn't told this until our arrival. Breakfast is self service apart from the cookd breakfast. Pictures are not what they seem
