Hotel is old/creaky floorboards but lovely, clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. My friend had an issue with her bathroom which had a very musty/sewerage issue smell but she reported in the morning and was reassured it would be dealt with. Delicious breakfast, lot of options, comfortable and clean room, very happy thank you

Very grand from the outside and in the entrance, however lots of very tired decor and furnishings, including lots of debris under the bed and stains on the carpet. The receptionist was not very talkative and we didn't entirely feel welcomed until we met the cleaner and bar staff who were lovely. Nice to have free parking on site, but access was a bit tight. Breakfast had a good selection but was quite greasy and had been left under the hot lamps a bit too long. Also would have preferred freshly made tea and coffee.

We chose this venue as it was an affordable option for a quick stop - we were so impressed! The rooms were spacious and quiet and beautifully appointed, there was a lovely woman on reception who suggested a great restaurant for dinner across the road, and the breakfast the next morning was delicious. Booked for three nights, one tea bag! Little things matter. Shower drain wasnt draining, i reported to reception, when i got back to room, dirty marks in shower, dirty footprints on towel, problem not fixed.

We booked stayed in a junior suite in the main house, communication with reception was brilliant, they organised everything to have a great stay. The room was spotless, comfortable and surprisingly quiet as it was facing to the main road. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We also had food there and it was excellent. Definitely will go back if we plan to go to Banbury again.

General overview
Comfortable and clean hotel. Pleasant staff who were very helpful. Nice restaurant and bar. Hotel is in a good area close to restaurants and bars within walking distance. The hotel is a little tired but this doesn’t take anything away from it it is just an observation and I would stay there again.

Get ready to ASK for towels and MAKING UP YOUR BED otherwise it will not be done by default. Asking the lobby for arranging a taxi pickup… you will get a number to call yourself. ALL services disappeared once stepping out of the Mercure chain. It starts to look like a low-budget hotel for a premium price. Badrooms are renovated though.

The receptionist was very helpful and friendly The room was really nice. The only drawback is we only had one towel for two people. But as soon as we told the receptionist she brought 1 some more up. There wasn’t any milk in the tea and coffee tray. and the window didn’t close properly so it let in the cold. and the curtains were quite light so they let in the light at night and morning

With a family member in the Horton Hospital whately hotel was in a great location to be close by, a 2-minute drive. The hotel has its own free car park through the entryway passage toward the rear of the hotel. I must say I was glad we were in our small car. I pulled in the wing mirrors.. We found access from the parking lot to the garden and into the main building to the front desk. Check-in was straightforward, and we were in the cosy twin room (room 50 overlooking the garden) within a few minutes. After doing a quick check of the room amenities happy to find everything working and clean. The bathroom was great, feat a big overhead shower and a hot bathroom radiator, along with big fluffy bath towels. There was a massive range of TV channels great for relaxing in bed. The ladies at dinner were lovely, a small but nice menu to choose from. The breakfast buffet was okay. Work is ongoing at the hotel, and there were workmen in and around the building during the days. We’re back in a week so really hoping for a similar good experience! :)
