Art Nouveau 2 Bedroom in the Historic Eixample

Description of the apartment -
· This quiet and comfortable 2 bedroom apartment is on the 5th floor of an 100-year-old modernist building. The floors are still the original colorful mosaic (a different design in every room), and the ceilings are 9 feet high. There is an elevator, air conditioning, central heating, and a full kitchen with granite countertops, dishwasher, pots & pans, dishes, etc.

The building has a roof terrace, with tables and chairs, plenty of sunshine, and views to Sagrada Familia. Please note it is a shared terrace.

Description of location -
· The apartment is located in the beautiful Eixample, halfway between Gaudi's La Pedrera (also known as Casa Milà) on the Passeig de Gracia, and Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia, just a ten-minute walk from either one. Casa Amatller and Casa Batlló are at the same short distance as well. The Eixample district has the most beautiful Art Nouveau architecture in the city dating from the last half of the XIX century.
There are many cafes, restaurants, tapas bars, and shops in the neighborhood also. Almost all buildings in the area are at least 100 years old. The 115-year-old Market of La Concepció, where you can do your grocery shopping in a traditional setting, is just 200 meters from the apartment. This market has fresh meat, produce, and cheeses, similar to the more famous Boqueria market, but less crowded and does not have some of the more exotic things.
The Eixample is recommended as a convenient location to see the different sight around the city, but not as crowded as the Old City. You can get a taste of real local life.

Transportation -
· There is a bus stop (for 8 different bus lines) on the corner right by the apartment that will take you to almost all the places of interest in the city, if you don't feel like walking. The city buses are nice and modern, and run often. The apartment is also less than 5 minutes walking from the metro station of Verdaguer, on both the yellow and blue lines. One stop away is the upscale shopping street, Passeig de Gracia, though you can easily walk there from the apartment. Three stops away is Plaza Catalunya (the very center of the city and also walkable) and the start of Las Ramblas, and the beaches are just five stops away. Four stops away you have the Old Cathedral and the Picasso Museum. There is also a parking garage close to the apartment, although renting a car in Barcelona is not recommended.

Beautiful apartment
Communication was good before stay and while we stayed. The apartment is beautiful, especially the tiles. Very traditional. Great area to eat inside terrace and the shared terrace is great too. Great to have air conditioning too. Only issue was the noise from other apartments.

First and foremost I am very honest when submitting reviews and my review reflects the “stars”. When we arrived we were told that the property was not ready due to a water leak in the apartment. This is understandable but as paying customers with a Family of four and a detailed itinerary that required us to be on time for certain reservations; it is unacceptable. We were contacted shortly before we arrived and was moved to an adjacent apartment (Enchantment Apartment) where the A/C was not properly working and was extremely hot and told that we had to move in two days. We were at the mercy of the host and had to make arrangements around their time and not ours. We missed our reservations to the Sagrada Familia church and was on their schedule to move out. Finally we move my entire Family to the original apartment and the host did not assist in helping us move as they said they would. Upon arrival the plumber and cleaning crew was still preparing the apartment for our arrival. We could not use the shower for 6 hours and this was one of the hottest days on record in Barcelona. Once again not acceptable and we had know communication from the host as they had a person that was assisting them in this catastrophe. I have contacted VRBO. Additionally I have tried calling and messaging the host explains $150 refund was not enough to compensate us. We deserve at least two days of refund for our inconvenience. I do not recommend this host because they are no where close to contact.

Perfect location
Would save this for my next trip to Barcelona. Already recommending to friends planning to go to BCN. We ended up staying at another property they owned, as the original place we reserved needed emergent maintenance. The other property was only 2 buildings down, and I would say it was luke being upgraded. Thank you to the hosts ! Couldn't ask for anything more. Neighborhood market, mercat la concepcio, is only 2 blocks away. And there are many convenience stores nearby. Historic St. Francesc de Sales church is only a few steps away. Definitely would book again !

Was disappointed there was only a washing machine, no dryer. Check-in was a little complicated due to the office & the facility being in two different locations. Would have been nice to receive the check-in information earlier as we were on a transatlantic cruise for 12 days prior to reaching Barcelona & did not have access to our email. Appreciated being able to store our luggage in the office while waiting for the rooms to be ready. The toilet room was very same, commode & very small sink. This was separate from the shower room which also had a sink. Very nice place to eat brunch just across the street. Enjoyed walking the neighborhood & to many of the attractions. Location was ideal.

Great location/Adorable traditional ambiance!
This apartment was exactly what my friend and I were looking for on our first time visit to Barcelona! It was exactly as the pictures portrayed(with a few “minor” upgrades). We did have a situation of water leaking down in to the apartment below but that was quickly resolved by Lilianna the “greeter”. The washer was a little bit of a challenge(we didn’t know what the icons meant) but overall, this place is a traditional, cozy, safe place to stay! Most of our exploring was within walking distance and whatever else we wanted to venture and see was accessible by the metro station which was only a short walk. We did experience the breakfast spot on the corner called “Billy Brunch”. It was delicious just as the other reviewers had stated! I personally would stay here again and would highly recommend this place to others! Thank you for a great experience!

Flat in great location. Only 5 mins brisk walk from Familia Sagrada and you can walk to the port/ beach within 30 mins. Park Gruell 30 mins walk but up slight incline. Supermarkets and restaurants all in close proximity. The flat has everything we needed but it did look tired with one wash hand basin not working and an old shower. Just needs more tender care/ updating but this did not detract from an enjoyable stay.

Wonderful location
We truly enjoyed our stay in the apartment, easy to get groceries from stores and local markets, lots of restaurants/cafes nearby, and a terrific walking area. It's a 10-minute walk to the Sagrada Familia, 5 minute walk from two Metro stops, 20 minutes from the Ramblas and Barrio Gothic. The apartment seemed smaller than the pictures showed, but they accurately depicted the space. Much of the apartment interior seemed to be original (tile floors, woodwork, doors) to the building, which appeared to date back to the beginning of the last century. For the two of us, there was plenty of space, plus we loved the sunroom/dining area. Would consider staying again on a return trip to Barcelona.

A cozy unit in a great neighborhood relatively close to the main city attractions as well as the city's transport. The apartment has classical floor tile that keeps it true to the architecture and character of the building. It may feel a little dated but in a good way. In a quiet building where getting rest wasn't an issue at all. Easy to access and to turn over again. I appreciated the place. Would stay again if available on my return visits.

The twin beds are cot beds with springs. The listing showed pictures of multiple units, not just the unit you're staying in. The WiFi super sucked. The walls are super thin and you can't make noise between 10pm to 8am. On a positive note, the building was secure. Kitchen was great.

Location, location and traditional, old school charm.
When we left, we discussed reconfiguring our trip to come back for another day or 2. Just a 10-12 minute walk to the Sagrada Familia made it a fabulous for daily access to the hop on hop off bus! ( i highly reccomend the bus because it was a fabulous way to get around the city. ) taxis were readily available at every hour. We saw 3 pass beforeaking it to the corner to hail ours at 5:45am for the airport. There are soooo many great little spots within seconds for coffe, tapas, chill time, etc. We highly reccoment a visit to Samuel at Bull brunch downstairs. We started or ended our evening there often. Billy Brunch is a delicious breakfast place. And, if you walk too far away, cabs ate plentiful and very cheap. You seriously cant beat the location. The apartment was certainly dated (alot added to the charm, some you accepted because the location was perfect). You felt like you lived in Barcelona not like you wete in a vacation hotel. We were definately grateful for the elevator after so many steps each day.

The good and the bad
Pros: The neighborhood is fantastic. Coffee shops, elegant restaurants, markets, and pharmacies all close at hand. The kitchen is small but well equipped. The apartment is spaciious, and the dining and living rooms are sunny and welcoming. The beds are very comfortable. It's away from the street so there's no traffic noise. You're a pleasant walk to the Sagrada Familia, and right on several major bus lines. Cons: The entire apartment feels like it needs a good cleaning. The toilet closet is claustrophobic and in particular not clean. The elevator makes a horrible noise that is right up against the wall in the small bedroom. The street door has a high threshold making it hard to manage with large luggage, and the elevator door is up a half-flight of stairs. Communication with the owners was spotty--we never saw the "greeter" at all, and some of our messages were not returned. The wifi is very frustrating: slow and highly sporadic. They list ten different networks you can log onto, but at any one time only one or two work, if then, and they are very slow. The washer/dryer doesn't come with instructions, and it took us six hours to dry our clothes.

Perfect Barcelona get away
Thanks so much for letting us use your lovely Barcelona apartment. It was a perfect getaway! We were able to dine on the sunny porch in the mornings, and had Christmas dinner under the fading glow of sunset. The bed was so comfortable, and honestly we never even touched the thermostat. It is located about 5-10 minute walks from 3 different metro stops, and the market 2 blocks down is so amazing. We ate at the apartment far more than we went to restaurants because all the local food was just so great. What a fantastic stay! Thanks

The property is in a great location easy to get to many of the sites. It is a clean and comfortable property if you are looking for the basics. We received good instruction for getting to the apartment and how to get in. A few repairs are needed such as the washing machine we could not open the door but we received assistance quickly and were able to do our wash. Overall we were happy with our stay

Excellent location!
This property is in a fantastic neighborhood with tons of restaurants nearby. A great coffee place right next door. The Tapas, burgers place a few doors down had the best fries I’ve ever had. Absolutely loved this location. The place is small but cozy. The rooftop terrace was really nice. We had a little problem, out of the owners control, and everyone handled it with ease, professionalism and kindness. This type of service means the world when we are traveling so far from home. I highly reccomend this lovel6 property.

Location, location, location.
First, if you expect a 5 star hotel look elsewhere. Apartment is functional and clean. We stayed for a week. Check in was easy and communication was responsive. Location is a 12 minute walk to Famiila and 15 to casa Batllo. There are many great restaurants and metro transportation nearby. Our visit to Barcelona was amazing Indiana couple.

Pics of listing on VRBO are not accurate. There were no floor rugs, no curtain, wall paint a different color. Doors and baseboards were incredibly damaged with hige dents and scuff marks; wood window trim in bathroom is rotting. Property owners said a greeter would meet us- Lilliana. She didn’t really greet us, she was there when we picked up our bags from their secure storage area- she said hello but didn’t even get out of her chair- so not really a greeter and not helpful at all. Location is very good, close within walking distance to many things. Bed was not bad- I’ve had worse. Overall I would give this place a 2 out of 10. Since the pictures did not match the actual apartment I’d have to say it is misleading. It really needs some TLC!!! Probably would NOT stay here again.
