Peaceful and secluded but close to everything
Edie met us as we pulled into the drive and showed us to our room, explaining where everything was and let us know she was right across the way at the main house if we needed anything. Parking was super convenient and walking through the arched entry hall into the garden courtyard on the path to our room was rather ethereal. The owner is close enough to be convenient if anything is needed, but the manner in which it is set up gives guests privacy and a sense of being in your own little world. Love the historic feel! (The old screen door did it for me). The grounds are beautiful and the pond and natural gardens near the room are so peaceful. 10 minutes from everything but you'd never know it! Super comfy mattress and pillows, more than sufficient hot water (hard to find in an historic rental), and pretty much everything we needed was provided. We're looking forward to staying at the Sugar House again!

Lovely Farm Stay Right in The City
I, my two children, and my mom were visiting an elderly relative in Baton Rouge. This VRBO was such a perfect place. There was room for the children to run, we didn't share walls with anyone so they could be a little loud, and we learned all about the organic farm. The host family was lovely and welcoming (including the dog and very affectionate cat). The beds were cozy and the nights were quiet. Two notes for future guests: the water has a distinct sulfur smell, so fill a water bottle for water overnight, and the kitchen is minimal. The latter was no big deal because part of the point of our trip was to eat, but this isn't a good VRBO if you plan to do any significant meal prep.

Country Feel Minutes from Everything
The property itself was a beautiful, charming, southern oasis. The lush grounds and peaceful setting make you forget you are literally minutes from LSU and downtown BR. The house is tucked back from the nearby road, and it was blissful waking up to the sounds of birds and the beautiful sunlight streaming in the windows in the room. I could go on forever about how wonderful our stay was! I can't wait to come back! <3

Beautiful and great location
It was a perfectly, lovely home and great communication with owners. Super clean and sweet. Met all out needs!! Great hot water that lasted through all 5 of us! We would likely stay again. My only preference for change is I would have liked to have been able to load the dishwasher and start it right before we left (they state to wash and put away all dishes). Bring paper cups and plates for breakfast if you don’t want to have to hand wash and dry things as you leave but be able to eat and drink. Absolutely still a 5 star review and a personal preference for me.

We stayed here for LSU game weekend with our daughter and a friend. It was originally supposed to be just my husband & I and when Mu daughter’s plans fell through and we decided to bring her & a friend the owners were very accommodating. Even had their blow up mattress set up in the extra room all set up & made up with bedding when we arrived. We would definitely stay here again. Very charming & precious little cottage.

Comfy, Cozy rooms and Beautiful scenery
I'm glad I took my time searching VRBO for the perfect place to stay because I found it. The hosts were wonderful. Edie is lovely and so accommodating. If you're like me and appreciate all things old like trees and houses and ever wondered if the walls could talk you'd love it. The scenery and sounds are breathtaking and the spanish moss is my favorite. We will be making many visits over the next few years to visit our Lil' LSU Tiger! I don't want to stay anywhere else now.

LSU college visit
My mom, daughter, & I traveled to Baton Rouge for a LSU campus tour. We loved staying here. When we were at the property it felt like we were far away from a large city. However, we weren’t really far away at all. Nicholson Rd (where the house is located) goes straight to the LSU campus. The owners were so nice & helpful with driving directions and good restaurants to try during our stay. They also have 2 friendly black & white cats & 1 dog who loves it if you throw a tennis ball into the pond. She will go get it and bring it back to you as many times as you are willing to keep throwing. We would definitely stay and this property again.

Mr. Jeff and Ms. Edie are fantastic hosts! The Cottage is gorgeous, the grounds are beautiful and you are few minutes drive from Baton Rouge and campus. Mr. Jeff recommended Louie's for breakfast and boy was he right. The weather was very nice for our stay. My wife and I sat on the Cottage's front porch for hours after we had walked the beautiful grounds. Couldn't have asked for a better quick get away weekend!
