"We hired 2 chalets' no's 528 & 529. 528 was in good shape but 589 was not. The master bedroom carpets were dirty and the chalet needed painting. "Overall good and safe experience. It felt like having your own house in nature next to the Kruger National Park. That house was for me alone with plenty of space and total beds for up to 4 persons. It was all clean and tidy. The only downside is that it wasn't climatic controlled the only cooling devices are fans which can be cold during night. "This is a nice property near Phabeni gate of Kruger National Park, which is just a 6 minute drive. Akani is a great host and if you need anything he will bend over backwards to help! You can park right next to your chalet, which is very helpful. - I personally hate lodges where you have to park a distance away! - There is a pub nearby that gets noisy at times, but if you run a fan it drowns out the noise. "We would definitely recommend Lion Sand’s River Lodge! We came here for our honeymoon and this was the most special holiday of our lives. We stayed in the River Suite, which was beautiful, as was the rest of the hotel. The service was fantastic - every member of staff (whether that be in the restaurant, behind the bar, cleaning staff, reception, etc) were incredibly kind, chatty and attentive. The food during our stay was excellent. The highlight of this trip was certainly the game drives. We had Jason (field guide) and Abraham (tracker) and both guys were incredibly knowledgeable, skilled and just very nice people - we really hope that our paths cross again some day! We have been given memories that will last a life time! Josh & Jennifer "

"I would qualify everything about this place with exceptional. I wanted to thank each staff and copied down the names of our night and morning receptionists and gardener/manager, but lost the paper all with my car registration. Go figure. But the place is first rate with budget cost. The TV had hundreds of channels. The king size bed is comfortable. Wifi is strong. Beautiful room decor and spacious. No details overlooked. We came out of 5 days of stalking animals/birds in Kruger. It's perfect rest. The gardener (I am sure he had other jobs) washed our dusty car. Free breakfast make to order. We didn't have time to enjoy the wonderful breakfast, etc. because we were in a rush to get on the road. But you will. "
