Relax & Revisit your Yesterdays with a Retro Staycation!

If your taste is more jukebox than Victrola? More poodle skirt than parasol? Then America's First Nostalgic Guesthouse, The Good Ol' Days House is for you. Relax during your stay in a home where the 1950s, 60s and 70s come alive. This recently restored & renovated family home is filled with authentic treasures that bring you back to the decades of America's past with its Nifty 50s Kitchen, an art deco style 1940s Dining Room, a living room in 'mod' 1960s decor, retro 70s bedrooms, and full basement with a Knotty Pine built in bar right out of the 50s along with vintage Pinball and Bowling machines. Take a step back in time with family and friends as you celebrate important milestones such as birthdays, anniversaries, family & class reunions or just a weekend getaway to go back to a simpler time and remember those Good Ol' Days.
**The GOOD OL' DAY HOUSE was just featured on the television show WQEDs 'PITTSBURGH 360' on April 18, 2013! You can download the show from WQEDs website.

Restaurants: There are several excellent restaurants for fine dining in the area such as close-by The Back Porch & The Speer Street Grill, Lenora's in Perryopolis, & Lucchesi's in Monessen. You can also enjoy good home-style family type restaurants, fast food and other familiar chain restaurants all less than one mile away.

Pittsburgh dining is 25 miles or a 30, 45 minute drive.

Seven Springs is less than an hour away.

There are 2 yummy pizza shops, a Dairy Queen, Bakery & Grocery Store all within walking distance.

A friendly local 'watering hole' tavern is also within walking distance on the Main Street.

Shopping: Many vintage & antique shops are close by within a few minutes or up to a 15 minute drive. We have Gabriel Brothers, which is a 'Bargain Place' to shop for name brands & closeouts.
The Brand new Tanger Outlet Mall is 20 minutes away and there are 6 Shopping Malls all within a 30 - 45 minute drive. Such as South Hills Village, Westmoreland Mall, Uniontown Mall, Franklin Mall, Century III Mall and Monroeville Mall.

Churches: Just like in those Good Ol' Days when faith in God was the center of any community--- Churches of all denominations are nearby and most within walking distance to the home.

Unique and Fun!
Family really enjoyed all of the different themes in each room. The game room was a hit! The hosts were wonderful and responsive. We were given a tour of the home on arrival, and they were quick to bring extra lighting during an unexpected power outage. We did not realize that there is also a tiny guest house on the back of the property that is available to book, and our host was able to give that guest a quick tour of the big house also. They share a parking area and a small part of the backyard space, but we rarely saw the other tenants. Booking both homes would be fun for a larger group! The big house is three stories, with game room and full bath in the basement, living area and half bath on the main floor, and three bedrooms, full bath, and laundry closet on the top floor. The kitchen space is small for cooking, but the adjacent dining room is large with plenty of seating. We also enjoyed the front porch and back patio areas. This home is a unique and fun experience!

A truly unique experience & trip back to the past.
It's above the ho-hum of a traditional hotel stay. Plenty of things to do and see. If you are into history or fads of the past it's the place for you. I look forward to staying there again sometime.

We had an amazing time stepping back in time. We will definitely be back!
Melanie was an amazing host and went out of her way to make our stay special. We had a small gathering for a co-ed baby shower for our family who live in the valley. Our family enjoyed the property as well! We enjoyed the pin ball machine, record player and the themed bedrooms the most!

Awesome
We are 50 and 52. Kids are all 20 and over. Was great to play show and tell as you explored the house. We found the place by luck, but it was excellent. Melanie is a fantastic host. So easy to work with. Clear instructions. And what a welcome to the house. Thank you again for everything. We were sending pictures to friends and family and telling everyone about it.

perfect!
Our stay at the Nostalgic Guest House was absolutely perfect! Melanie, and her husband Bob, were outstanding hosts and made us feel completely at home. The home was clean and inviting...and a whole lot of fun. It was a blast for our kids to get to experience so many things that we had growing up...can you say Pac Man and rotary phones?? They were our guides to and from the Steelers game and really went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. They made my husband's 40th birthday experience one he'll never forget.

If you were lucky enough to grow up in the Belle Vernon area then do yourself a favor and stay at this property. It's a piece of Belle Vernon's past that is all brought together in one wonderful house that is conveniently located and within walking distance of the entire town. Enjoy the memorabilia from Kennywood, Forbes Field, the Super 71 Drive-in etc. See if you can find family members in the Belle Vernon H.S. class pictures from the fourties; I found my mother, father and two uncles! I found the property to be exactly as advertised and extremely clean. The owner went over the top in making us feel welcome and comfortable. I would recommend this property to anyone, regardless of whether you're from the area or not.

New Years Eve
My family had the pleasure in spending New Year's Eve with our grandchildren at the Good Old Days Guest House in Belle Vernon, PA. We are from New Orleans and our grandchildren live in Connellsville, Pa. We wanted to spend some of the holidays with them. The home was a true blast from the past. The decor was so true to the 40's - 70's era, The house was decorated for Christmas complete with the genuine retro toys under the Christmas tree. We were able to truly celebrate Christmas and New year's with them. The children were so enchanted with the game room and the toys and games. We had a wonderful time and would recommend it to anyone traveling to Pennsylvannia. Melanie has put such love and care into this guest house. We hope to return there very soon.

Nostalgic Getaway
Melanie, Thank you so much for sharing your grandparents home with us. As one of our (possibly) last trips together as a family..with my daughter getting married and son graduating college soon..we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our nostalgic getaway. We hung out, goofed off, listened to records, played Life, and watched Casablanca. Some of us got a nap in, or took a *fabulous* bubble bath (MEEE!!) It felt like being at home 💗But Better💗 We would love to come back sometime around Christmas someday🌟 You give everyone who comes here a little piece of something back that we lost long ago. Thank you. With Love, The Williams Family & Buddy🐾

Vintage and luxury simultaneously!
"My husband, nieces, nephews and I will be talking about this place forever! The kids ranged in age from 8 to 17 and they OOOHED and AAAHED while Melanie took us on a quick tour. We applaud Melanie's attention to detail, accuracy, and hospitality. We believe that the sleeping and bathing accommodations and hospitality to be the best we've had yet. We LIVED here for just a short while but FELT like it was our home and that we knew the folks who had once shared meals at the dining table, told jokes in the living room and played records in the bedrooms. The kids loved their boys and girls' special bedrooms and hungout there when John and I chatted by the Christmas tree with our perculated coffee. We went into the city but only briefly as the kids just wanted to "come home" to Belle Vernon and the rumpus room and their bedrooms. Huge gratitude to Melanie for making our annual Christmas memory so very special and memorable."

Thanksgiving 2010
My son is a student at Pitt and we rented the house for 3 days over the holiday. The house is unbelievable "cool" had lots of memorabilia that my husband and I could relate to. My kids had a great time and my son enjoyed a touch of modern day watching football on the large flat screen TV in the basement! We prepared a turkey and all the fixings at the house and ate in the beautiful dining room. My family even thanked me for arranging this and said it was a special time. Melanie and her husband couldnt have been nicer and even bought me a turkey for the meal as well as having the refrigerator stocked with waters. I think my kids ate all the old fashioned candy despite me begging them to leave some for other guests. I definitely recommend and I hope to be a repeat customer. Loved it!

Long Stay on Off Season for Work Out Of State
My stay here was wonderful and very user friendly for the area. The owner Melanie Patterson and her family, neighbors, and friends were very welcoming for my time away from home for work. Staying here was a definitely a home away from home feeling. The place was clean, affordable, inviting, and cozy. I do a lot of traveling all over and this place was gorgeous even during all the beautiful snow. I wish I could post pictures that I took of this place. It brings you back to your child hood of things you grew up with in your lifetime and even more. If you want the feel of reminders throughout your life, this place has it all. Take a step back in time and every night I felt like I was back in my bed at home when I was seven years old. Anytime I needed anything Melanie answered all my questions and was available on call. We had dinner with her family, visited the local moose lodge, and me and my future husband that I met found our first date place to be one of the most romantic places ever " The Back Porch" in the basement of this restaurant. Love love loved it!

Vintage and retro luxury! Memories to be had!
As a general rule with birthdays and holidays, my husband and I avoid buying physical presents for our nieces and nephews, but rather, "make memories" by doing something together - whether a one-day, overnight or just evening event. When we found the "Good Ole Days" get-a-away, we knew it would be a great Christmas present for all of us...and boy, did we score big! The kids - ranging in ages from 8-17, were so delighted with this place and Melanie's special touches that when we went into Pittsburgh to see the city at Christmas time, we left early because everyone wanted to just come "home" and enjoy the place together. What did we do during the stay? Lived. John made my mom's "blue plate special" traditional meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans and had family dinner...we peculated coffee and made cocoa and told stories, rumpused in the rumpus room, listened to records...and had a great blend of Christmas and Festivas time - oh, and always love Gabriels which is just down the road. My husband and I have traveled extensively, and we received some of the best hospitality from Melanie AND comfortable accommodations. We love that Melanie not only has honored her family in this way but has also given others a chance to feel a part of the memories - both hers and their own. We will be back...!

Fun place with all the comforts of home.
My husband, our daughters, son-in law and 2 grandchildren spent 4 days at Melanie's Fun House. We all came from out of state to visit family. The house was lots of fun outside and inside. We never ran out of things to look at, laugh at and enjoy! Many toys and games for the adults and children. Oh, the memories. And while the whole house was entertaining it was also very comfortable. Melanie has seen to every detail to make one feel at home, from comfortable beds and sheets to wonderful fragrant homemade soap. The bathrooms have roomy standing showers and great showers heads, lots of fluffy towels and places to hang them. There is a washer and dryer. The house is totally suited for parties. A roomy refrigerator, freezer and a oven in the kitchen AND another oven in the rumpus room which was really convenient for our family party. Lots of kitchen towels and dish clothes. Many, many dishes, glasses, mugs, flatware, trays, nice pots and pans, extra tables and chairs. Melanie does not skimp on anything. Coffee, sugar and tea bags were also provided. No microwave, you get to go 'back in time' to reheat foods. We didn't even miss the microwave. I expected the house to be a wonderful 'back in time' experience because of the reviews. I never expected the house to be so well equipped and comfortable. Thank you Melanie for being an awesome host!

Incredible Stay
This is by far the best VRBO experience ever! We celebrated my mom's 79th birthday as well as visiting my son who plays for the Cal football team. Walking around the house brought back so many memories! The communications from the owner were outstanding and in fact were typically responded in less than an hour. The house was extremely clean and the decorations left no detail behind. My son enjoyed the pinball machine and the arcade games and as a family we just enjoyed sitting in the living room talking. The beds were extremely comfortable. We will be staying here again for sure!
