Come Stay in Belt Montana - Charming, Historic, Memorable

The Belt Creek Cabin is a log cabin located in historic Belt, Montana. Belt is in central Montana and is nestled between wheat farms, the Highwood Mountains, and the Little Belt Mountains. Soaring cliffs and precipitous ledges mark the Belt Creek Canyon as it slices out of the Little Belt Mountains and winds toward the town of Belt. Remains of mines, a railroad, and historic cabins line Belt Creek as it makes its way through the beautiful canyon carved in limestone. In fact, Sluice Boxes State Park, which resides in that canyon, is just beyond our front door. Belt gets its unusual name from nearby Belt Butte, a mountain with a belt of rocks encircling it.

The Belt Creek Cabin is a log cabin which includes a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dining area, and living area, and has beds for six guests. Relax outside on the beautiful decks, on which you can barbecue, visit with the local residents, and enjoy the beautiful view, including Belt Creek as it flows past the cabin. Take a short stroll down Castner Street to The Belt Commercial Historic District, which is on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Belt was settled as a coal camp in the late 19th century. It is a charming small town, surrounded with opportunities for hiking, hunting, fishing, cross country and downhill skiing, bike riding, bird watching, wildlife viewing, picnicking, photography, swimming, rafting, ice fishing, ATV, horseback riding and historical reminiscing. We have our own renowned brewery, which features Pig Ass Porter, Charlie Russell Red and Beltian White. Please see our “Things to Do” page for more information.

The local museum captures the history of Belt. Housed in the old town jail, the Belt Museum includes a jail cell, a coal mine exhibit, records, photos, and the work of local artists. Private tours can be arranged to see the Belt Museum. Belt also hosts an annual rodeo, spanning three days and attracting competitors from across the west.

In an easy day trip, you can even see dinosaurs at the Old Trail Museum in Choteau! If you like ghost towns, check out Barker & Hughsville. In Great Falls, a quick 15 minute drive, you can see one of the world’s largest freshwater springs, which was discovered by the Lewis & Clark Expedition, and flows at a rate of 156 million gallons of crystal clear water per day. Giant Springs creates the Roe River, once named the world’s shortest river in the Guinness Book of World Records. You can see the series of five waterfalls that the Lewis & Clark Expedition spent a full month portaging from the lower falls to the upper.

Belt is a great stopping point between Glacier National Park to the north, and Yellowstone National Park to the south. Great Falls International Airport is located within easy driving distance. Make us part of your journey. You won’t be disappointed.

Check out the area for things to do. A very interesting and fun area to visit.

Lovely cabin.
Very nice property. Very clean and had everything we needed. The only negative we had was that it was very hot. In the 90's. Cabin advertised air conditioning but there was only a small table top unit which did not cool the cabin. We actually had to go sleep at our granddaughters house our second night there. But we did love the cabin and will book again when we go back to visit family, we just won't go in July or August. Close to Great Falls for shopping and restaurants. Highly recommend this cabin.

We had a great time, cabin was very clean and loved all the wood.
Renting was very easy, secure and although we didn't plan on canceling our trip the cancelation policy was very accommodating to cover almost everything.

Cozy little spot
Nice little cabin, has all the basics. Very nice deck for when the weather is good. Only thing to be aware of is it's very close to a popular bar and it can get a little noisy on the weekends, but if you don't mind that it's a great location not far from Great Falls.

Pheasant Hunting with the Belt Cabin.
Our pheasant hunting group has stayed at the cabin in Belt, on two occasions. We found it to meet our needs perfectly. The location is great, with access to the Pub, café and grocery store, only steps away. The cabin is cozy and has all of the items to make your stay effortless. We will be sure to stay here again.

Great stay!
We enjoyed our stay tremendously. I wish we could have stayed longer. So easy to check in and out, and our questions and the change to the reservation were promptly answered. Very comfortable little cabin. We ate our meals on the back deck, listening to the creek. We walked everywhere around town. And sitting in peace and quiet at night, looking at the stars was restorative. 10/10 definitely renting again.

Cute cabin, good location
This cabin was great for our own space while visiting family over the holidays. The kitchen worked well for preparing small dishes. The bed was comfortable, and the bunk beds looked perfect for kids. The local grocery store and bars/restaurants are within walking distance. Added perks are: pet friendly, great deck overlooking the creek, and wide space for parking next to cabin (not on street).

Unique and comfortable. Should state that it comfortably sleeps 2, and can accommodate up to 4 others on a hide-a-bed couch and two small bunks in a closet. Sleeps 6 is accurate, but not comfortable.

Very Nice!
The cabin was very cozy and well appointed. The kitchen was well equipped with many small appliances. It was quiet and close to down town. The cabin was next door to the town museum on one side and a local brew pub on the other. Up the street was the actual brewery which we visited and took a tour. We really enjoyed eating dinner on the back deck overlooking Belt Creek.

cozy cabin, misleading setting
This cozy cabin is extremely clean and well maintained and obviously built with love and attention to detail. However, the description of the setting and location is misleading. It backs onto a pub and a decrepit bridge and the creek running behind it is unremarkable. If you are merely looking for a clean place to stay then this is the one, but if you're looking for an escape in the woods, keep looking. The owner was prompt in her responses and informative about attractions close by.

Lovely Cabin
My wife and I spent 15 days here on Sept. Everything was perfect. The cabin is well equipped with everything you may need. It has a new flat tv and satellite tv service so I could watch some of the tennis US Open and also has wifi so I could answers emails and take care of my business. Mary Beth was always a text away to answer any question we had about the cabin. I would highly recommend it to anybody who wants to visit Great Falls and its surroundings. We'll be back next year.

Liked: Check-in
Cabin in Belt
The only thing that wasn't good, was getting in the door. When we arrived the lock was frozen but we managed to get inside. Even after it warmed up it was quite hard to unlock the door, a little frustrating.

Cozy and Clean
This cabin was perfect for my husband and me. It’s adorable, warm and cozy. My husband has contacted the builder to check on ordering one for us to live in while we build a house. We were hoping to get some cross country skiing in but I guess we brought the warm weather with us from Florida. Sluice Canyon was a great place to explore. I left my Apple Watch so I would like to Thank everyone involved sending it to me! We hope to stay again next time we are in Belt. Enjoyed the brewery on one side and a great place to eat on the other.

Disliked: Communication
Cute log cabin w/ a view of the Belt River
Enjoyable and cute cabin in the town of Belt with a lovely deck overlooking the Belt River. The primary issue was with wi-fi which wasn't strong enough for streaming (couldn't watch a movie) otherwise it was adequate. We never heard from the property manager which is why it wasn't rated. The only other comment was that the deck furniture was very dirty along with the windows (hard to see out of). Extra cleaning would make a huge difference.

Summer 2017
Was a nice little cabin just would have loved it much better if it had air conditioning. Was hot during the period we stayed in July and did not cool off until around 3am in the morning so we did not get much sleep those three nights. Would love to move it to the country instead of being in town. Was great that the owners left a complimentary bottle of wine and did like the local bars. One additional thing would to make a small portable cooler available for day trips. Nice interior and clean cabin. Thanks for letting us stay.

Cozy warm cabin in an adorable little town.
We are on a 6 night road trip and stayed 2 nights at the cabin. We loved everything about the cabin. The weather was freezing outside when we arrived but the cabin was warm and cozy. Perfectly decorated with a Christmas theme and very clean. The queen bed was very comfortable and I slept like a log. The cabin is situated in town but it was very quiet and peaceful outside. You can walk easily to the pubs in town, the grocery store and they even have a bowling alley!! The town is historic and the people we met there were extraordinarily kind and jolly! There is a creek beside the cabin with a cool swing bridge that you can walk across. We loved the cabin and we loved the town. We will definitely be back. The only thing on our wish list is we would love to have had WiFi at the cabin. We can’t wait to come back again.

The cabin was exactly as described. It is cozy, comfortable and in the middle of beautiful country.
We are spending a few weeks on the road touring some of the country's National Parks. We had come from Yellowstone and are heading for Glacier National Park. We looked at several places to stay in this part of Montana on their VisitMT.com website. We were lucky to find this place. We really wanted a quiet place to stay and use as a base to visit several sights in this region around Great Falls. Belt is a small town in what I would describe as ranch land. The locals are friendly. There is a great saloon around the corner from the cabin and the local grocery store is also just a short walk away. The cabin had everything we needed. The queen bed was comfortable. The cabin was clean. The grounds are clean and the place is just off a creek that flows by. We barbecued one evening on the deck. The air was crisp and refreshing. We will definitely tell our friends and family about the experience here. We took lots of photographs. Our Verizon phone worked perfectly and we were able to use it as a hot spot to check a few things out on our computer. We arranged a tour of the museum which was very interesting. We also toured the CM Russell Museum, the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, Sluice Box State Park and checked out the River's Edge Trail along the Missouri River near Great Falls. All of our contact with the owner was by email. They have a local resident that lives nearby who is available for anything that comes up. In our case nothing did. Both of us (we are in our late sixties) were actually surprised on how much we liked this area of Montana. We are retired and I am sure that we will come back and take advantage of the Belt Creek Cabin in the future.
