"This is one of the best experiences I had. I enjoyed the authentic Japanese hospitality. I was greeted and escorted to the lobby. The staff led me to my room showing me all the facilities. "This property has no staff onsite. So you have no ability to leave luggage before check in or after checkout, so you have to use the lockers at the train station. Email on entry was confusing and required a call. I observed similar struggles with other guests. Checkin is all via keypad. Room was a nice size, had a kitchen, and sitting area (cushions were stained). Location to the train station was nice, but it is not bar any hot springs or other attractions. "

"Room was completely misadvertised as having a shower/bath, there was only communal available and even that had limited availability. The room had paper thin walls and wasn't exactly the cleanest one I have stayed at. I checked out early considering the false advertising and unacceptable conditions, the manager was unhelpful and came up with bogus excuses, refusing any refund. It's a Showa era youth hostel, nothing more. Avoid."

"Overall, a pleasant stay in a modest, nicely-equipped self-catering apartment with good communication and information from the owner. Conveniently close to the Beppu station and main shops in a quiet street. The layout of the apartment is a little unusual, but not a problem.
