Half Round- A Quiet Mid-Century Modern Cabin

Unique mid-century modern "Half Round" cabin in the woods. Located in the iconic Coolfont Mountainside which consists of contemporary cabins on nearly 400 acres, and was founded as an amazing retreating community in 1969. Half Round has 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. The open dining-living room area has soaring ceilings, 360-view fireplace and walls of glass looking out to the deck and woods beyond. The house is one level with ramp access to the front door and wrap-around deck, with seating and gas BBQ grill. The community in-ground heated pool and hot tub is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. (Year round indoor pool and hot tub available at nearby Coolfont Resort for $8pp/day.) Other community features include on-site hiking trails, tennis and basketball courts, rec field and tot-lot. The Berkeley Springs area of West Virginia is less than a two-hour drive from major metropolitan areas such as Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland. It is best known for its warm mineral springs and is famous for being the country’s first ‘spa’, frequented by Native Americans long before the first European settlers appeared. This part of West Virginia is rich in history and natural beauty, and draws thousands of visitors each year. Get ready to relax and make memories for a lifetime in this beautiful and cozy mid-century cabin.

Great Weekend Retreat
Half-Round provided a wonderful quiet weekend retreat in a beautiful setting. Elissa was great in answering our many questions prior to arrival! We loved being so close to the TreeTops restaurant for several good dinners since the weather was frigid and snowy. One suggestion: if possible to install grab bars in the bathroom, handicapped guests would be safer while using the toilet and shower.

Lovely stay for 3 adults
My mother, sister and I had a lovely 4 nights winter stay at the half round house. Perfect tranquil accomodation in nature. Fantastic views on the forest from the comfort of the mid-century house. We loved the fireplace, however on day 1 there was no firestarter and needed to buy with wood the next day. The owners refunded 10 saying there is usually supplies for one fire. We also had to buy toilet paper. We enjoyed the many board games and books. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking meals. Beautiful surroundings, with easy hikes and a restaurant at walking distance.Hosts were responsive and helpful. Thank you!Highly recommended!

A mid-century modern gem!
Our family and dog had an amazing Thanksgiving get-away at this impeccably curated cabin. We loved the tasteful decor and appreciated the extra details - the fireplace, design books, magazines, games - all of it a great touch. The cabin feels secluded without being too far from civilization. It was well stocked with ample amount of firewood, coffee and kitchen essentials. We were able to cook an entire Thanksgiving meal! We highly recommend staying here. It was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay at Half Round again.

Friends trip
Myself and 2 other female retired teachers chose this half round cabin because of its location that is close to hiking, restaurants, and the town of Berkeley Springs, and it did not disappoint. The cabin was situated in a quiet, wooded area where other cabins are spaced pretty far apart. The cabin was stocked with all necessities and was very comfortable. The 3 of us agreed that our favorite part was the large deck that we enjoyed for morning coffee and afternoon relaxation after hiking. The 15 minute walk to the brewery for dinner was a highlight for sure. The food was great and the dartboard there made for a fun evening before walking back to the cabin. I highly recommend this half round cabin!

We enjoyed a family girls’ weekend for my daughter’s birthday. We loved the beautiful wooded setting of this cabin. The outdoor space was amazing. Everything we needed was there - well stocked. Beds were comfortable. We felt like we were away from it all but still so close to everything.

Our group of friends kayaked earlier in the day and then stayed here to celebrate my 60th birthday. The large deck was perfect - private and nestled in the woods among the tall trees. Very comfortable bedrooms and kitchen was well equipped. It is a rustic cabin but in very good condition.

Great Location!
My family and I loved staying here! Very comfortable and clean house in a great wooded location, great views and very quiet. We stayed during the heat wave so the community pool was a great bonus for us. The house is very close and convenient to downtown Berkeley Springs (about a 10 minute drive) and Berkeley Springs Brewing Co was walkable from the house (great food and dog friendly!). There were also hiking trails right in the neighborhood. I highly recommend this place, we will definitely be coming back. I also loved that there were no TVs here, and there were plenty of board games and puzzles already at the house.

A wonderful homey home.
This is a great place to stay while vacationing.Everything you need is provided and the house itself is warm and welcoming, it is a bit hard to find but that is part of its charm. You wont be sorry staying here it is a great plus to any get-away!

Rustic cabin in the woods.
Comfortable and quiet cabin in a wooded area just outside of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Very well equipped with coffee, hot chocolate, and all of the things necessary to cook and serve in the cabin. Beautiful area but cabin can be difficult to find the first time. GPS got us to the general area but it required trial and error to find the cabin. Written info from the owner was very accurate and helped us find the cabin the first time.

Lovely cabin in Berkeley Springs close to everything
This cabin is well-located about ten minutes from downtown Berkeley Springs and 15 minutes or so from Cacapon State Park. The deck is lovely and the yurt portion of the cabin has a fun and funky design. The kitchen is well stocked and the two beds we used (including the king bed) were super comfortable. The hosts were super communicative and it was quiet and secluded. My one caveat is that the lighting is rather dim in all the rooms--too dim in the main area, we felt, as well as the master bedroom. Otherwise, it's a wonderful place and we hope to go back at some point!

Quite Enjoyable
It was a pretty place to stay and comfortable. The front screen door needs replacing (it's kinda terrifying to have the wind catch it in the middle of the night) and some brighter lights in the main room. The little touches like olive oil in the pantry, high quality linens, and the picture mugs made it special. And the owners are very accommodating and attentive. Would definitely stay there again.

Perfect wooded getaway
We really enjoyed our weekend stay at this little house! It was a bit hard to find TBH (a map would be helpful). Very clean, kitchen was well stocked, appreciated coffee pot/Keurig. Heat and hot water worked really well (was chilly out!) and we loved the wood stove, comfortable beds. Would have enjoyed 2 comfortable chairs in the living area - with 4 adults and 2 teens we had to use dining chairs (not very cozy) to sit together.
