"I was volunteering in Lourdes for 5 days and needed a reasonably priced place to stay. The Villa Mariale was the best price. I realised that I had stayed there some years before, when it was called something else. It hasn’t changed much, but at least, this time bath towels were included. I didn’t cook, but there was a fully equipped kitchen area if you wanted to do your own cooking"

"We enjoyed our stay in this cute mountain cabin. The views were incredible and it was easy to find. The beds were comfortable, but be warned you need to bring your own sheets and towels, which is not made clear when you book. The floorboards are a little squeaky and there are no comfy chairs outside to sit and admire that gorgeous view from, but apart from that, it was very pleasant. The kitchen is well stocked and the place was immaculately clean. Philippe was a very welcoming host."

The house however requires reconstruction, especially bathrooms (only one of three is OK to use) and kitchen (very small and difficult to manage cooking for 8 people). "The property has not been maintained or checked for cleanliness prior to occupation. Mould on surface of dinner plates, bowls requiring cleaning prior to use. Strong odor of urine in living room, dank smell from kitchen drain, mold . At check-in we were told to purchase our own toilet paper! No paper towels either.Mosquito infested outdoor sitting area precluded its use and no screens on any windows or doors."

"This is a lovely base from which to explore the Pyrenees (around 1/2 hour to 1 hour’s drive). The owners are very friendly and helpful. We had a very mellow time sitting on the patio watching the cows and the stars!"

"The food service was treble and very disappointing, was given cold onion soup, pizza was awful, the lady serving us was nice but everything from the get go wasn’t professional. I was served wrong soup to start with(soup of the day which I didn’t order) secondly it took more 30 minutes to get my food while my wife finished her salad, thirdly both my pizza and onion soup served the same time. I was so disappointed but the front desk staff was excellent and professional. I will never eat in that restaurant if I ever come back to Lourdes.Dr.Mike"

"The hotel is not the most modern, but it was clean and close to the sanctuary. The decor in the hallway is quite dated but our room was updated with newer amenities (sink, shower and commode). The front desk staff was helpful and spoke English. The restaurants attached to the hotel were always quite busy. I would recommend staying here most fir it’s convenient location."
