The exquisite white sands, clear waters and grassy foreshore of Bibi Beach provide the perfect setting for a day by the sea. Take advantage of the wide range of activities at this pretty beach and spend the day exploring the waters or playing ballgames on the sand. Fire up the beachside barbecues and enjoy a freshly grilled lunch with fantastic sea views.
Stroll down Bibi Beach’s grassy lawns to reach the broad expanse of soft sand. Pick a spot to lay out your towel or relax on a lounge chair in the shade of a beach umbrella, which are available for rent. If the tide is out, explore the man-made inoo (tide pools). The seawater pools are home to a range of marine creatures, such as tropical fish, shellfish and crabs. You can reach the inoo via a flat pathway, making it an easy and safe place for young children to explore.
Go for a swim in the clear waters or explore the shoreline with a rented water bike. Bibi beach vendors also rent out inflatable toys. The tropical waters are perfect for cooling off after enjoying the sunshine. Lifeguards keep watch over the beach activities during Okinawa’s summer season between April and October.
Join locals in a game of beach volleyball or watch the action from a shaded pavilion. If you’ve worked up an appetite, grab refreshments from the waterfront snack bar or rent a barbecue and grill a meal. Purchase food for barbecuing from a beachside vendor. Alternatively, bring your own picnic snacks to enjoy on the grass. Pick up snacks from the nearby shopping center or grab some delicious local seafood from the Itoman Fish Market.
Bibi Beach is located in Itoman City and can be reached in 20 minutes by car from Naha Airport. Parking is available on site for a fee. The beach is free to visit and is open during regular business hours. Changing rooms, restrooms, shower facilities and lockers are available.
