Mountain Getaway Nestled In The Foothills of The Blue Ridge Mountains.

The newly renovated Bearfeet Retreat treetopper is located in the beautiful planned community of Big Canoe. Bearfeet Retreat has so much to offer from the great hiking trails that wind through creeks and waterfalls, to its three lakes. Once you’re done enjoying the outdoors come back to the comforts of a fully furnished home. Bearfeet Retreat offers two bedrooms, two full baths, and a sleeper sofa and can comfortably sleep 6 people. If cooking is your thing then help yourself the fully furnished kitchen and the outdoor gas grill. The house offers a great wrap around deck that is great for cookouts, relaxing, and your morning coffee while enjoying all of nature’s beauty and peacefulness.

While at Bearfeet Retreat you’ll find two fully furnished bedrooms. The master bedroom is fitted with a comfortable queen size bed, full closet, and a work / vanity area. Also located in the master bedroom is a full bath with a Japanese soaking tub and separate shower area. The second bedroom provides a full king-sized bed that you’ll have no problem sinking into after an enjoyable day in Big Canoe. Not tired just yet, relax in the main room that is surrounded by celling to floor windows that look out onto the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains with Lake Sconti at its feet. Or shut the blinds and wrap up in a blanket and take a nap in either of the two comfortable reclining chairs or stretch out on the comfy sofa. The main room features a 43” HD SmartTV (Netflix, Hulu, etc) with basic cable, and wireless capabilities. Transform the sofa into a queen size sleeper sofa once your guests are ready to call it a night.

Big Canoe is a premier mountain community, conveniently located just one hour north of Atlanta, Georgia and metro area airports. Big Canoe is situated in a gated, resort like setting that includes 8,000+ acres of pristine woodlands, meadows, lakes and streams, and resort style amenities.

Big canoe offers championship golf courses, eight outdoor and two indoor tennis courts, pickleball and a fitness center with an indoor swimming pool. Take advantage of the three pristine mountain lakes, Lake Petit, Lake Sconti, and Lake Disharoon. Lake Petite features a full marina with Pontoon Boats, Jon Boats, Kayaks, and Paddle Boards available for rental. If fishing is your thing then check out Lake Petit’s 111 acres of open water that offers some of the best fishing Georgia has to offer. Lake Petit’s 100-foot water is known for its abundance of Rainbow Trout with the average trout running about 2lbs. Bass, Bluegill, Crappie, and Brim are also known to swim the waters of Lake Petit and Lake Sconti. Need to take a dip? Lake Disharoon features a fun sandy beach that also has an 110,000-gallon free-form outdoor pool that overlooks the lake. Don’t worry there is plenty of more fun to be had at the rock slides or at the Wildcat Recreation Center that also has a 104,000-gallon pool and kiddie pool. In need of an adventure try out the twenty plus miles of hiking trails that roll through creeks, waterfalls, and all of nature’s beauty. Just a short distance from Big Canoe is Amicalola Falls State Park which features an 829-acre state park home to the 729ft falls. Also located in Big canoe is a jeep trail that allows you to explore Big Canoe in a different way while in your 4WD vehicle. You’ll pass through creeks, old cabins and some great spots to have a picnic. Or join into the Open Play Pickleball offered several days a week.

One of the many great things about Big Canoe is its connection to the wildlife that also lives inside this peaceful community. Don’t be surprised to see Deer, Turkeys, Birds of all Variety, and yes Bears. The Black Bear is a long-time resident of Big Canoe and one of our most prevalent forms of wildlife, and the inspiration of our homes name.

The most important thing is to relax and enjoy all that Bearfeet Retreat and Big Canoe has to offer. Please do not hesitate to contact the property owners with any questions about the property, or Big Canoe. We are here to make your stay relaxing, stress free, and enjoyable.

Great Stay!
I highly recommend this property! It is a very cute cabin. Our boys loved it and felt like they were staying in a treehouse. The community is great and we really enjoyed eating at the restaurant in the community clubhouse. It was very convenient. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The owner always responded quickly and had excellent communication. The book detailing community info in the cabin was extremely helpful. 10 out of 10!

Great stay!
This place was great and cozy! It was just enough room for my husband and myself plus the king size bed was very comfortable! The only downfall was the Hott water, it didn’t stay Hott long enough for a relaxing tub bath. Everything else was absolutely great and we can’t wait to come back!

Fall getaway in rustic cabin
My wife and adult son stayed here for three nights at the end of October. Big Canoe is a well-kept upscale resort community with lots of amenities. The unit was in a cluster of similarly built units but each had its own space on the slope of a wooded hill. It was comfortable and well outfitted including a propane fire "pit" - we made smores - and grill. The hiking - Amicolola Falls - and fishing - Lake Petit - in the community was great. One downside was seasonal hours for restaurants - in fall/winter, plan drive or cooking inside, which was fine.

Perfect Getaway
This was the perfect escape for the two of us. Originally we planned on some friends joining us but they couldn’t make it. The property was an amazing escape from the hustle and bustle of life. So great that two weeks later we still talk about it and wanting to return just to relax from the hustle and bustle. The host was extremely attentive leading up to our arrival and we had no need to contact them once we arrived. We miss the chili that was served at the club house as well. I would highly recommend this place!

Great place for a getaway!
The property was as advertised and clean. The property is well equipped just bring your food, drinks, and snacks. The location is located in a beautiful part of Georgia in an extremely large and fantastic private community. The roads throughout the community are recently paved and well maintained. However, a GPS equipped vehicle is recommended, as getting to the property is not easy if you only navigate by a map. Overall, it is a great place to stay and relax.

Relaxing hiking vacation
Very clean, host very responsive, lovely resort community. Nice hiking trails, people we met at Big Canoe all very friendly, would definitely like to come back in summer to use pool and lakefront beach. Convenient to Amicalola State Park. HVAC blower was very noisy white noise but maybe that’s just the contrast since everything else was so quiet and peaceful. overall 5 stars.

60th Anniversary Getaway
As previous owners in Big Canoe we chose to return for 3 days to celebrate our 60th anniversary and spend time with Big Canoe friends reflecting on our many years in Big Canoe. Bearfeet Retreat was cozy and comfortable and provided all the necessities for our stay. Owners provide all the information you need to help you settle into the treetopper and to guide you to all the activities provided in Big Canoe. Of course, we were familiar with the many amenities but for the first time visitor, you will be well informed. Communication with Philip and Meg was excellent with quick response. We have to put a plug in for HOME restaurant located just outside the north gate. It is superb and has remained so for many many years. A must dining experience. Big Canoe will always have a special place in our life memories. Thanks Bearfeet Retreat for the welcoming bottle of champagne and for your hospitality. We’ll return in the future.

Relax and Reset
This was a getaway I didn't realize I needed...wanted but most importantly needed. Super quiet and though you have the accessibility to stay connected to the world if you should choose to. At this location, you will definitely choose not to. The area inclusive of the trails and lake nearby worth the drive out of the Atlanta for the moment to reset.

Change of scenery
This place is gorgeous! Everything was clean and had all the comforts of home, without the traffic and noise. We loved the privacy of the rental, even though we had neighbors we rarely saw them. Check in and out was a breeze and Phillip was quick to respond to any questions we had. Also a nice surprise, as we were celebrating a birthday, there was a nice bottle of champagne as a welcome! We will be back for sure! We loved Big Canoe and all the beauty it had to offer.
