Great property. Poor management.
The house itself was spectacular. Very clean and incredible view. Lots of things to do in the house. Pool table, ping pong (although the table is out on the porch with no screen, so be prepared to fetch balls that fall down the slope outside), a ton of board games, puzzles, and books. The negatives are the hot water was not working in the downstairs bedroom during our stay and the driveway and road to get up to the house are very steep. The biggest negative (and the thing that makes it so that we will not rent here again and would advise others not to), is that after we checked out, the property manager, Yonder, charged our card two additional unauthorized pet fees that they claimed we had on the property. We definitely did not have any pets with us. They based this assumption off of the fact that there were two dog houses on the lower porch which were there before we arrived. (After we distilled the charges they determined that the owners of the house left them there). Misunderstandings are fine, but the problem I have is instead of contacting us about it, they immediately assumed that we tried to sneak pets in and made an unauthorized charge on our card. They refunded the pet charges, but only after our insistence. This is obviously not the proper way to go about things and we won't be renting a property managed by Yonder again.

Beautiful secluded mountain getaway
The property was beautiful, clean, and well maintained. The views were amazing and loved the screened in porch and hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped and the gas grill worked perfectly. The bedrooms were large and comfortable, as was the main living area. Nicely decorated and lots of books to choose from. Perfect for a romantic mountain getaway. It was higher up in the mountains than I expected, with little room for walking. The driveway is very steep. The thermostat was tricky and we had to keep resetting it. I called for assistance, but never received a call back, which is why I rated that poorly. If it had been a bigger issue, that would be a major concern for me, especially at the high price for the property.

An Excellent House
House was very clean, well-equipped, and thoughtfully designed. Plenty of comfortable seating in living room, kitchen, and on the deck. The hot tub is spacious, and we loved that a portion of the deck is screened in. We were 2 couples, so having 2 king bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms was great. It is very quiet and peaceful, but close enough to the town of Black Mountain for convenience of shopping, restaurants, etc. The driveway is pretty steep but you get used to it. I would not hesitate to recommend this house to anyone.

Beautiful Mountain Getaway
Sticks and Stones is an absolutely stunning property. Plenty of room for 10 people to stay comfortably. Favorite things about our stay was the gorgeous view, screened in porch with rockers, the hot tub and the gourmet kitchen where we cooked many meals. Tons of wildlife to see in the neighborhood and surrounding area, including a mama bear and her three cubs. Very close to fun activities for all ages and abilities. The NC Arboretum was our favorite. The only issue we had was upon arrival. The master bed looked like it had been slept in, and there were dirty towels in the bathroom. I washed the sheets (no change of sheets available on hand) at 9:30pm the night we arrived. Not thrilled, but issue was quickly addressed by the property management team. Apparently it was a miscommunication with the owners and their friend who had used the property just before us. The housekeeper came the next morning to give the bathroom a good cleaning and was very apologetic about the issue. We appreciate the owners making their beautiful home available for others to enjoy. We hope to return!

Just what we needed…:)
This property was everything we were looking for and more!! Incredible views, wonderful outdoor spaces, a hot tub, super-cool master bathroom, lots of dressers and closet spaces, a kitchen fully stocked for all cooking wants and needs, comfortable indoor spaces with an open floor plan on the main level, 3 full baths, breathtaking views, indoor recreation options (pool table, darts and LOTS of board and table games), a ping pong table on the lower deck, laundry facilities, indoor and deck fire places…the list goes on. You can tell that the owners have made a special getaway for themselves…there is a warm, welcoming feeling there. And the views…!!!

Amazing views
This was a first for us, staying at a house in the mountains, and we couldn’t have been happier! The view from the deck was magnificent and we loved spending every evening on the screened in porch chatting around the fire pit. The hot tub under the stars was a highlight too. The home was comfortable and very well appointed. As we were leaving we were already talking about returning in the spring to see all the natural rhododendron blooming and in the fall - I can only imagine how gorgeous the fall foliage is from that vantage point. The boys loved exploring the woods around the property and we went on some wonderful hikes that weren’t far away. It was the perfect secluded, cozy home for our week away in the mountains!

Secluded getaway
We enjoyed the home very much. It was very well appointed and had terrific views. It is a bit out of the way but thats what we wanted. Pay close attention to recommendations about travel in icy weather. If you don’t, you may be very disappointed. We would definitely stay here again if we desired to visit Asheville again.

Amazing Rental
This was our small family get-together for Thanksgiving. We stayed in and cooked all three days. The house is wonderfully appointed and is completely stocked with anything and everything you need- I've never seen a better stocked rental. We loved the gas fireplace on the front porch and gathered there at night to tell tales. We didn't get to use the hot tub, because our 8 month old is currently having a sleep regression, but hopefully next time! Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

This house is amazing! Absolutely beautiful
The house is situated quite high up on a mountain, in a gorgeous neighborhood, so the drive up to it is steep & twisty, but well paved and the surrounding scenery is so beautiful on the way there. If you are not used to mountain roads, this may be nerve-wracking for you. I’ve lived in FL my entire life, so the driveway of the house was super terrifying for me and I had a bad panic attack the first time we drove down it when we arrived at the property. It may be easier visibility with a smaller vehicle, but I want to warn others that if you have a large SUV like we do, we could not see the driveway at all over the hood of our car when going over the crest at the top. It’s such a steep downhill slope, that it was a blind drop for us when entering the driveway off the road. However, it’s very well paved with grooves cut in for traction, and has a switchback at the bottom. There’s even a well-thought out little trail through the woods leading from the house up to the top of the driveway if you prefer to walk up or down there (if you’re too scared to actually ride in the car on the driveway again like me!) BUT the good news is that 1) after that first time, you do get used to it and it gets so much easier to conquer! and 2) the house is totally worth it!!! The awesome mountain view off the back porch faces south, so I was hoping we would be able to see both the sunrises & sunsets looking towards the east and west. Unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy that because the weather didn’t cooperate! It was rainy and very cloudy/foggy during our entire week stay, although I’m sure the views would have been stunning if we’d had clear skies. And if you gotta be stuck in a house during crappy weather, this is definitely the perfect house to be in on a rainy day!! The house itself is absolutely gorgeous inside & out. It’s huge, beautifully designed and decorated, and the furniture is so comfortable. The bathrooms are truly stunning! It’s got such a perfect layout and the outdoor decks are fantastic. We really loved and enjoyed the hot tub and the fire pit, and the fact that we could still enjoy being outside with a fire and making s’mores even during the rain since that part of the porch is covered and screened in! The kitchen is huge and has everything you need to cook & serve meals (except for spices & seasonings.) The whole family loved the downstairs pool table for entertainment. I would not hesitate to book it again & again, because it’s really just perfect!

The new house (in a mountain-side gated community) were amazing; every room had special features and touches. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay (mostly the open kitchen, screened porch, and quiet serenity). The mountain location and views were spectacular. On our last morning we saw wild turkey walking through the yard.

Fell in love with this property. Hands down the nicest rental property we have ever stayed in. The kitchen was so well stocked in terms of cooking needs. Actual pots/pans big enough for large families. Blenders, mixers, crockpot. Only thing we missed was a coffee grinder. Loved the large open concept kitchen and living room. That covered deck wins the day. We sat out there morning, noon and night. Turn on the fire table, sip coffee or wine and just enjoy the view. Kids had a blast playing ping pong, pool and chess. The hot tub was a huge hit too. Location is perfect to Black Mountain, Asheville, Chimney Rock, DuPont Recreational Forest.

Just what we needed
We really enjoyed our stay. The house is beautiful and comfortable. We loved the open floor plan, well-equipped kitchen, back screened deck, and relaxing mountain views. The primary bedroom is huge, with an amazing walk in shower/tub. The other bedrooms are downstairs, off the game room. This space would be perfect for a family with young kids or a group of teens. We also enjoyed the pool table, dart board and chessboard. House is in a great location too. Grocery store is a short drive down the mountain, and there are plenty of things to do in the area. We enjoyed hiking, visiting the NC Arboretum, and the Farmer’s Market. The driveway down to the house is worth mentioning... it is very steep, but well-paved. Should you ever need to walk up to the road (which would be difficult to do via the driveway), there is a short path thru the pretty wooded property.
