We had an absolutely wonderful family vacation for (5) at Henry's beautiful
Vacation Home! The home was very nice with a well equipped Kitchen and (3)
Bedrooms/(2) Full Bathrooms. We brought in our own food and cooked all but
(5) meals over the corse of the week. We ate 2x's in town and 3x's at Staniel Cay Marina.
The Blackened Grouper was yummy! We bought a few things at Adderly's Friendly Store
(eggs, milk, soda, Ice cream, lettuce, etc.). Bring Cash, as it is the preferred payment method
on most of the islands. Some places will take credit for an additional fee. US or Bahama cash
is equally accepted and valued.
The home was perfect for us. We used the Wifi in the evenings after sunset, and it worked great! The
Guys even watched the Big 12 Tournament on the Dish TV. Really only did these things at night because there was too much to see and do durring the day.
The short walk down to either beach was perfect. The Caribbean side has a HUGE cove with acres
of sand to explore at low tide and shallow clear beautiful water otherwise. Most of our stay, that side
was very calm. We learned how to snorkel here the first day. It was amazing to see the sunsets out this side of the house every night. Each one was more beautiful! There were sand dollars, star fish and other critters to look for and learn about in the cove.
The twinkling of the mast lights of the sailboats at night was pretty, and during the day, watching which
way the sailboats were pointing let you know which direction the wind was coming from.
We rented Henry's boat for several days, and it was well worth it. We explored cays to the South one day and the North as far as Compass Cay (bring $10 per person to dock here and swim with the nurse sharks) on (3) other days. There are so many beautiful and interesting beaches to explore nearby in the boat. We saw the wild pigs on one, iguanas on another, and lots of places to stop and snorkel. Don't miss Thunderball Grotto across from Staniel Cay. It is an underwater/underground cave which is AMAZING! We anchored there, swam in and saw the cave and went around the corner and snorkeled outside it as well. Lots of fish to see.
Santos is Henry's right hand man and was always able to help us if we had questions. We also met Bervin, who works on the island and he took us to/from the airport. He also took us to a beach on the South end of the island on our last day.
Henry checked on us every day and was very helpful.
This was our favorite vacation
