About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

A traditional farmhouse vibe! Modern living with a rustic twist. For lovers of the great outdoors!

PERFECT for family groups or two to three couples seeking the peace and tranquillity of village life, with forest, hillside and riverside walks from the doorstep.

RELAX in a centuries-old, traditional farm house, that oozes character. With the added benefit of having the top facilities of Slovenia’s premier tourist destinations within easy reach!

The owners will not be at the house during guest stays.

The Alpine Retreat is sited in a well serviced village, with shop and restaurant / bar. Located beside the church at the heart of the old farming village of Zasip, you will feel at the centre of village comings and goings.

Sat on a ridge with commanding southerly views, and Bled Castle in clear view, you are just a few kilometres from Lake Bled, with all its tourist facilities, yet being in Zasip, on the doorstep of some wonderful countryside, you feel more in touch with the local way of life.

There are some amazing walks nearby, including a circuit to Vintgar Gorge, which is within easy striding distance of the doorstep.

With the exception of the basement boiler room and secure store rooms, guests will have access to the whole house.

The Alpine Retreat is both our second home and a professionally managed holiday rental apartment. For you this means that you can expect to find everything you need for a comfortable stay with the reassurance that help is close at hand should the need arise.

Although there are bus and train services from the village the use of a car, to explore the area's wonders, is recommended.

This house is in a quiet village setting and is therefore not suitable for noisy groups. It is best for families or respectful adults who enjoy forest and hillside walls from the doorstep, wild swimming in the nearby lakes, or simply relaxing in the garden and taking in the magnificent mountain backdrop.

Fabulous place to stay
We so enjoyed our time staying here. The house is so lovely and spacious and in a wonderful rural location with amazing views! We loved the welcome gifts and supplies of basic things. Our teenage boys had a great time using the pool table and there were so many games and dvds on offer! It really felt like a home. Some reviewers have commented about farm smells but it is a farmhouse within a farming community so this is completely understandable. You will also hear the church bells from the beautiful church next door but neither of these things would put us off returning. It is a perfect base for exploring Slovenia with a car and you can walk into Bled in about 30 mins. Stuart was a great host, providing lots of information and promptly answered any questions we had. We hope to return in the future!

Surprised
The property was located directly across the street from the barn, which was, unfortunately experiencing VERY strong odor.(liquid manure?) I grew up on a dairy farm and this was something out of the ordinary.

The quiet offered by this property and the peacefulness of the neighbors was welcomed. We appreciated looking at the castle on the hill at night and were even treated to snow-capped mountains one morning.

Village house
Traditional village house, simply decorated, comfortably furnished and extremely well equipped, good shower, comfortable beds and good bedding etc. Lovely views. In peaceful village of Zasip, away from the tourist throngs in Bled. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony, the good village restaurant, and great walks from the door. Stuart was a great host. House information and recommends all very thorough, so all went very smoothly. Highly recommended as a base for a holiday in the area, which has so much to do we felt we barely scratched the surface - so we'd love to come back.

Great family house not far from the touristic village Bled
Really nice and well maintained and clean house, good located, just a few minutes drive from Bled, nostalgic just besides an old church. The kitchen was well equiped, the beds were very good, nice modern bathroom, the Wifi was very good. Next door there was a really nice old woman, who waved us every day "a good day". The balcony was nice but small, the garden was a good place to be outside, but only accessible by walking around the house. The contact with the owner was very good. He gave us a lot of practical information about the area, several walking tours, restaurants etc. We would like to recommand this house to everyone.

Great property in a perfect location.
The property had everything we needed and kept reasonably cool when the outside temperatures were hot. The balcony was especially nice for breakfast with a view of the village and Bled castle in the distance. The location is also perfect if you have a car. Centrally placed for Lakes Bled and Bohinj, not far from the Vrsic Pass and Triglev National Park, and also plenty of great scenery and walking close to the property. Local food also very good.

Amazing Place to Stay
I spent a few days here visiting friends and have to say it was perfect! The house is so big, there's so much space - it's fantastic. The kitchen was well stocked and the study area with Dvds and books as well as the games selection was a great little touch. Would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic !!
Spacious house in hiking paradise near Bled. We were there with two grown-up sons, who liked that there were so many different rooms in the house where they could go their own way. There is even a library with lots of DVDs. In good weather you can sit on the balcony or in the new garden behind the barn (beautiful view at both places). Stuart has done everything to make the holiday a great success. When one of the showers broke, he immediately arranged a plumber and offered to send a cleaner after the plumber's visit. We have done everything without a car, there is good public transport and we have rented mountain bikes. Bled itself can be a bit crowded in summer. The Vintgar Gorge also, the best time to visit the Vintgar in high season is at about 8.00 AM or after 16.30.

Very charming rustic nostalgic property. The area is like going back in time and very beautiful.
There was a strong smell of dairy cows that are housed just across the road, that pervaded the house. We could never get the hot water to work efficiently upstairs in the shower. The stairs to the bedrooms need negotiation, not for under 3s or over 60s who are not nimble and careful. It is a shame that there is no direct access to the garden, nor furniture, nor barbecue. Apart from those negatives, the beds were comfortable and we all enjoyed good sleeps. We loved the local pub for our dinner, just down the road. It is well priced, serves quite a variety and has cheerful English speaking service. The house is also well equipped with games and books.

Great place to explore Bled and beyond
Alpine Retreat was a great place for our short stay, next to a church in a rural location just 10 minutes drive from Lake Bled. There is a local supermarket with all essential needs and fresh bread and a small playground opposite it for our children. The property was spacious, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the modernized shower room complemented the original features of the place. There were a large selection of dvds provided and good WiFi too. Stuart responded quickly to emails and was very helpful. In sum, a great base to explore Bled and the surrounding area

Wonderful Stay
This farmhouse has everything you need for a wonderful stay in the countryside outside of Bled. The township of Zasip is not far from Lake Bled and very quiet. It has great accessibility to nearby walks. The house is well equipped and the kitchen has absolutely everything you need for cooking in. The BBQ around the back has a beautiful view. Stuart was very helpful during the booking process and afterwards with tips and suggestions. Hopefully, we will be back one day. Thanks again for a great stay.

Peaceful Farmhouse in perfect location close to Bled
Loved our stay in the Alpine Retreat, close enough to Bled to walk/cycle/drive in no time but far enough to be incredibly peaceful and enjoy sweeping views across the valley. The property is rustic but has everything you would need, and importantly stays cool on hot sunny days. Stuart the owner was very helpful before and during our stay, offering lots of tips and even helpfully drawing maps of local play areas for our 15 month old daughter. Would recommend for anyone wishing to explore not only Bled but the wider area and activities, all easily accesible from Zasip.

Loved the location!
We were a group of 6 adults visiting Slovenia and Croatia last September. We loved being able to walk to Bled and Vintgar Gorge. Zasip has a great restaurant, bar and grocery store within a few minutes walk. Everything we needed was close by, along with great scenery. The house had all the amenities we wanted and the sitting room and dining table were large enough to fit us all comfortably. The house does sleep 6 adults, but the loft area is a bit small for tall people.

Wonderful house. Beautiful location.
We stayed at Alpine Retreat for a week. The house is in perfect location - a beautiful village moments away from the much busier Bled. It was clean and had everything we needed. I really appreciated decent quality pans of a good size...vital for catering to hungry teenagers! Zasip is very well placed for great local walks and trips futher afield. Stuart, our host, was extremely helpful giving us maps of walks and restaurant recommendations. There were loads of activities nearby. We went canyoning, white water rafting and mountain biking. Highlight of the trip was paragliding at Bohinj and Lake Bohinj itself. A sublime beauty. Best meal was at the Airport Restaurant also recommended by Stuart. We had a brilliant time! Thank you Stuart.

Reflects village in which it is situated. Beautiful views. Lovely holiday home.
Very good for families of all ages. Wonderfully cool in hot weather. Home from home. Excellent facilities. Parking for two cars a bit difficult. Had to ask Think Slovenia to send someone out to cut garden. Appeared not to have been cut all season. Owner very helpful with written advice, things to do, car hire, walks, restaurants. Many useful books and maps. Hope to return. Overall wonderful holiday

Beautiful area and country
Very peaceful stay at Alpine Retreat, within walking distance of Bled and whole of Slovenia is within easy reach. House comfortable with all home comforts and great suggestions of things to do. Lovely to have the old lady next door waving to us whenever we came or went (did she ever go into her own house?!). Can't wait to visit Slovenia again, so beautiful and friendly

Fabulous place in the countryside, with Bled as a great starter for all sorts of outdoor activities!
We spent a long weekend in Stuarts lovely remodeled farm house. The house is spacious, equipped with everything one might need. The garden next to the house is a great source of fruits! Bled is just a couple of minutes to drive. But one can start wonderful hikes just in front of the door. We had no problem whatsoever, Stuart responded immediately and gave us a host of great information about the area, good enough for a couple of weeks stay. We really enjoyed the few days, ready to get more some time!
