Admire the wonderful views of the river from this meandering walkway and enjoy the serenity and scenery of the adjacent parks.

The Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge is a long crossing that stretches 3,000 feet (900 meters) over the Missouri River. It offers stunning vistas of the water, which is flanked by scenic parks and play areas. Walk to the center of the bridge and snap photos of the riverside views.

Join the cyclists and joggers on this long bridge to exercise with a picturesque backdrop. The bridge bends its way across the river, before disappearing into the dense vegetation of the forests and parks on the banks.

Gaze up at the towers that hold the bridge in place above the water. See the stunning structure at night, when its lights are reflected in the Missouri River. Markings in the center of the bridge denote the point where Iowa meets Nebraska. Take photos of your friends and family with one foot in each state.

Wander along the various nature trails that connect to the bridge via the curved walkways at its two ends. Relax in Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park and Playland Park on the eastern flank in Iowa. Enjoy the excellent views of the skyscrapers of Omaha in the distance. Explore the array of exhibits in the Lewis and Clark Landing park on the western edge of the bridge. It has a promenade running alongside the river with many benches for frequent stops.

Note that the name of the bridge is taken from Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey, who helped to secure the funds for its construction. Built in 2008, the bridge is open at all times. Access is free.

The Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge crosses the Missouri River to join the states of Nebraska and Iowa. It is near the Old Market district on the eastern side of Omaha. Go to nearby sights in the area, such as the Dodge Riverside Golf Club, the Omaha Children’s Museum and Heartland of America Park.
