Boquerón is a laid-back village within Cabo Rojo that hugs the coast of the Bahía de Boquerón. Visit in the evening to find atmospheric bars and clubs. On the northern end, you’ll find the Boquerón Yacht Club and its collection of luxury boats. The southern border of the boulevard will bring you to the marina and its connecting resorts.

Enter the Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge to go bird-watching and you might spot the endangered yellow-shouldered blackbird, as well as migratory birds on a stopover as they journey between North and South America. There is a visitor center located at the refuge’s historic Salt Flats. Also take your binoculars with you to the Boquerón Forest Reserve to spot rare birds within its mangrove-lined wetlands.
Boquerón is 5.5 miles (9 kilometers) south of the city of Cabo Rojo. Fly into San Juan Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport and rent a car, get a taxi or use the airport transfer service to reach Boquerón. The village is between 2 and 3 hours’ drive from the airport. For beachside fun and wildlife watching, Boquerón is an ideal destination in Puerto Rico.
