"The property was extremely clean and spacious downstairs. The lounge had a large toy corner which was wonderful for our 3 year old grandson. Upstairs was lovely but bedrooms were a bit cramped. Being winter we all had large warm jackets and it would have been useful to have a coat stand or hooks in the hall. We had to drape them over the kitchen chairs. Overall a very pleasant property. "

"We were greeted by our host who had kindly allowed us to deposit our luggage ahead of moving into the cottage. The cottage itself is cosy and well appointed with an Aga stove in the kitchen that keeps the cottage warm. It has a small but well kept garden with table and chairs for outside dining if desired. "The property was lovely with lots of character. Well positioned near the centre of town so nearby all you could need. Lovely place with great restaurants, very friendly and picturesque."

"We stayed in the Granary which was decorated for Christmas, it had such a lovely homely feel to the property. There was a very much appreciated welcome pack of mince pies, shortbread, wine and milk. The beds are super comfy and I honestly had some of the best sleeps staying here. The pool room was stunning and we loved the exclusive 2 hour slots that can be booked.We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return!"

When we had a problem with the electrics (following a storm) we were helped promptly. And the little additions like complimentary slippers and pool towels were lovely. New Years Break.

"The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was tasy and well presented. There was a problem with the radiators in our room, but the hotel gave us a fan heater. There was no hook on the bathroom door. This needed to be replaced. We had a room looking out onto the main road, but it was not noisy. The room was beautiful, especially as we like oldy worldy furniture and atmosphere. The Christmas decorations were all taken down by breakfast on New Year's Day, which was a shame. Otherwise all was well. We would stay there again and reccommend The Chapter House to others."

"We loved our 2 night stay here, the restaurant was great (unfortunately couldn’t get a booking at Yu Pan Asian) and we loved that the outdoor pool was heated for swimming in winter. The spa facilities do get extremely busy and noisy on Saturday but Friday evening and Sunday it was really pleasant to use. Our massage treatments were amazing, very relaxing. We stayed in a Heritage double room, very comfortable and with lovely personal touches to the room. Could use a few hooks by door for big winter coats and a place to store shoes and better pillows. Service was overall very good, extremely friendly staff. It did seem that some staff were not as well informed as others as when we enquired about a few things, we got mixed answers but nothing major - like I said everyone was extremely professional and friendly. We were recommended good local walks, the grounds of the hotel are lovely too. Would definitely recommend this hotel and we can’t wait to come back. "
