Obviously not a typical hostel but a must stay place. Only stayed for a night and that was probably enough. Not the most comfortable beds, but there was free breakfast in the morning.
This place is definitely safe and quiet.
Stayed in Summer, unlikely other hotel/hostel, air conditioned (natural?) Very well, almost too cold.
stuff were very cool and cool travelers hanging out. The most unique and cool spot in town
Well staying at Bunker was a short but great experience! Congratulations to the person who had the idea and the stuff! A really unique and authentic atmosphere especially if you like military history, served in the military or navy at cramped spaces or played Call of Duty! The comfort was great for the environment and the breakfast good and hefty! Next time i will be in Brno i will stay again there! Thank u Bunker!
I was a little hesitant about staying in a bunker, BUT it was completely fine for two nights. It’s definitely not luxurious, but it is clean, an experience, and my private room was comfortable. While it feels like a basement, the room and bathroom was clean, and the sleeping bag and bed were actually very comfortable. It was perfect for a summer time stay as it’s a nice 65 degrees Fahrenheit all year round. If you are interested in history whatsoever, staying one or two nights is definitely worth it. Plus you get to tour the bunker for free. There’s even a free breakfast that was pretty decent!
Aside from the experience, the staff was amazing. They are dedicated to hiring folks of different backgrounds and teaching people about peace, totalitarianism, and history. And on top of that, they are extremely friendly! While not a five star hotel, the staff are deserving of working in one.
It was also super close to the city center and train station. I couldn’t have asked for a better location.
Do not expect comfort and luxury, this is a nuclear bunker that is very authentic. Expect a hard bed, sleeping bag and soft pillow. Showers are operated by a pull down (they are hot).
It was a great experience and I was glad I did it.
This is a real bunker! You get an amazing historical sense of what living through the Cold War might have been like, or as a grittier version of a Vault Dweller in Fallout. The mold reminded me of what it might breathing in constant rads might be like. An amazing experience!
A memorable experience. Everywhere you look are relics from the Soviet period and so you are basically sleeping inside a museum. Furthermore the room (a 2-person private in our case) was more than spacious enough. The beds, pillows and sleeping bags seem to be from the Soviet era as well and are not very comfortable. This is all part of the experience though, and we didn’t mind, so no complaints there.
It's a very good experience for a stay at a bunker to understand the life in a bunker. Air conditioning at 14C, no windows, narrow corridor and basic continental breakfast are overall offering by the host.
A complementary visit to bunker is offered that more facilities are opened for visit to provide a better understanding of the life in a bunker.
Honestly, one night stay is fine and enough.
P.S. The host employs students and disabled people, it is a big merit.
This is a very cool experience. Hands down the best thing to do in Brno. They even have breakfast included which was nice. I came with my young sons and they LOVED it.
That said, it is similar to camping. The bathrooms are much like those at an outdoor camp and mostly shared between the sexes although there are small separate girl and boys bathrooms (with a shower stall or two!) toward the front. The beds are close to cots -- some are softer than other so check first and let the adults choose their beds before the kids!
With your expectations set for camping, you will enjoy this very unique stay!
So the bunker is a neat stay for a night or two. I only stayed one night... little afraid to use the showers, and there was an issue where the light didn't work. But, overall if you want to "experience" a nostalgic era of the cold war then you must definitely try it out even if just for a night. What was cool is I had a typewriter in my room that I actually got working and was able to write a letter out, lol. Again, very fascinating experience that you can only find at this place. I will warn you to bring warm pajamas as the room I was in did get quite cold, but again, you are in a bunker it is not the hilton...it is there for a retro experience. You do get a free tour out of the stay, but I had already done the tour so I didn't take the offer. They do have breakfast too, but due to my timeline I didn't have time for this either. So, either way, I would try this out again but probably will bring along some of my family or friends to enjoy the experience with. Also, with everything happening with Russia and Ukraine at least I feel a little bit safer knowing I'm in a fallout shelter :)
Fascinating place to stay, definitely unique. I would add you should be prepared that this is a bunker and themed still as such. The beds and linen aren’t Four Seasons level and you will not get a view. Wash areas are shared but clean, quiet and hot water never run out etc
What a unique experience in Brno! The bunker room was clean, comfortable and rather spacious. We found the temperature pleasantly cool, especially enjoyable during summer. Although the toilet and shower were shared with other rooms, they were clean too. Wifi worked fine. Both the entrance fee for visiting the museum and a breakfast were included. Mind you that you need to be at the breakfast area early in order to enjoy the full spread. What makes this place so much more than the sum of all those mentioned? The friendly and helpful staff! Don't miss this if you're in Brno. I won't hesitate to stay there again if I revisit Brno.
Difficult to review a property of this type as you should know what you're getting. That said it was a wonderful experience. The staff were superb, really helpful.
You have to taper your expectations for a luxury stay. This is a novelty hostel to stay in. As it's a bunker, it really plays to the theme. It's deep underground and dark by design. It does wind up a bit chilly inside, but the sleeping bag i was provided was surprisingly warm. Breakfast was a simple affair, a basic buffet. You don't get any phone signal inside, but the wifi actually works for once. Showers attempt to be warm, but you have to keep it running to get some warmth, possibly not ideal if you're feeling under the weather.
It's worth noting it's also a museum, so depending on where your room is, you may be hearing the music and videos for a fair amount of time during the day. I found that when the museum is closed on monday or any time after 7pm, you have to ring the doorbell for a member of staff to let you in. It can take them a while if you're coming back late at night, but not a big issue and at least it's secure.
It's an experience, worth trying out, just be mentally prepared for it.
