Fabulous place to stay!
Perfect place to stay for a young family and dog! Great size rooms, safe and secure garden, and everything you could need for a short break. Lots of lovely local walks - including to the coastal path, and information left at the property to help you find local places to visit. The owners of the property were very helpful and considerate and went the extra mile to make sure we had a great stay. We will definitely be back!

Best Christmas break ever!
My adult daughter and I stayed here with our two dogs so that we could have our own space whilst visiting family nearby. The bungalow was absolutely perfect for us; well equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds, dog friendly, enclosed garden with fabulous views and lots of lovely walks nearby. Host was extremely welcoming and helpful. We will most certainly be returning. Thoroughly recommend.

Great location
Very quiet and private location even though it’s next to the owners property. Stunning countryside view and some great dogs walks from the doorstep. Nice welcoming biscuits and tea coffee and milk on arrival. The cottage is a little tired in places but felt comfortable and the dogs were very secure in the garden. An enjoyable 4 days with excellent communication with the owner. Thank you.

Hawkern cottage
We have just returned from a week at this fabulous property ran by Claire and her husband, it was well equipped and Claire was very helpful and friendly. We loved the view from the patio and both said how lovely and quiet it was, we got lucky with the weather and there’s lots of walks from the property so we didn’t have to use the car much at all.

Fabulously chilled stay
Cottage is in the owner’s house grounds but very private & quiet. Claire was very welcoming & helpful about the local area. Kitchen was extremely well equipped, beds very comfortable & overall a lovely stay. The village is a short walk & I can recommend the community shop, the mill and the pub. All in all can be thoroughly recommended.

Excellent self-catering bungalow
The bungalow was ideal for us - very clean, well-appointed, comfortable and convenient. Claire was very helpful when we arrived - she and her husband live in Hawkern House alongside. She was always available but allowed us our privacy. Views from the house are lovely and the patio and lawn area were very pleasant. There are good walks to the SW Coast Path from the house and it was very convenient for our small dog. We stayed 7 nights and visited lots of nice places nearby and found a good variety of places to eat.

Second time I have stayed here and just as peaceful and relaxing as the last. Short walks and long walks for all. We had 4 dogs and they enjoyed it as much as we did. With the Mill and pub a short walk away just perfect for us.

We enjoyed a lovely week and the cottage suited us perfectly. We loved the dog walks directly from the house and enjoyed the sunny garden with which had great views. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked most evenings. Great communication with our host. Many thanks!

Nice property but a few issues
Lovely property up a small hill, ten minutes walk just outside the village of Otterton. Clean and comfortable. We were greeted personally by Claire. Box of sweets and tea left for us but no coffee or sugar. No instructions left on how to use any of the electricals or the gas boiler, and despite putting the hot water on an hour before a bath, the water was barely warm. Although the owner said to call her if there were any issues, we don't consider it a holiday if we're having to sort issues out by phoning people. We prefer to be independent if possible. The toilet cistern can be slow to refill. A lovely garden is provided with a great view and sun loungers. We had looked forward to relaxing out there. However we barely used it due to the owners using loud machinery such as a petrol driven motor lawn mower on and off for two mornings. We were even asked if we minded the garden lawn being scarified with one of these noisy machines, and when I suggested it be left for another day, the owner went away muttering that the machine had to go back that day. My husband had just received some bad personal news that morning too. If you are in the holiday let business and you offer a quiet, rural property, then you should strive to actually achieve this. We were only there for a few days so surely lawn mowing and work should have been left for changeover days or when guests aren't there. We especially chose this property due to its quiet location and garden for us to have a break from the often noisy city that we live in. We would definitely come back to lovely Otterton with its beavers and old mill and pub but we won't be booking this property again.

An excellent stay at a wonderful property
This is a truly delightful bungalow in a stunning location. The property had everything we needed, and a delightful garden area in which to enjoy the fabulous weather we were lucky to have. The property is very private although only a couple of minutes from Otterton village, where we enjoyed the hospitality of the local pub and Otterton Mill. Claire was very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. We'd definitely stay again if we were holidaying in this part of the country.

Beautiful place to stay
Lovely two bed cottage on owners land. Own private small garden with a lovely view. Property was lovely and clean with everything you could possible expect from a self catering holiday. The kitchen is one of the best equipped we have been to, including hand mixer and food processor. Otterton is a lovely village and would highly recommend the walk to Sidmouth along the coast path. The village pub even has a dog menu.
