We visited for our anniversary weekend and did enjoy the original features of the property and the location as there are a lot of cafes, pubs and shops close by. However, the room was tired and needed a bit of TLC. The shower had black mould on both heads and luckily there was a bath however the plug didn’t have a chain which meant I needed to prise it open after use. One window was mouldy and the latch was broken so it didn’t close completely. Although our bed was made after our first night, the toilet paper wasn’t refilled and the bath wasn’t cleaned down so my partner couldn’t enjoy a bath that evening. Overall I wouldn’t recommend especially for a special occasion. I also wouldn’t give it a 5* rating. Quite disappointing.
The good; the staff was friendly and the included breakfast was delicious! The bad; the rug was old, dirty and quite disgusting, the spare blanket was on the dirty floor in the closet and the shower was very slow draining.
It was in a very central position convenient for wandering around the area. Cosy lobby and eating area. Staff friendly and helpful. No parking at hotel but found free space up side road. Small negatives - floorboard needed fixing under carpet in bedroom, small stain on bedspread, small area of curtain needed hooking up. Would recommend for comfortable stay.
Locality to Cotswolds towns and villages, parking immediately opposite no cost, cottage type room with all necessary facilities for a comfortable stay self sufficiently.
We didn't have some basic room amenities and the staff were clearly very busy and rushed off their feet but the food was excellent and the room clean, quaint and spacious. Location on the high street is ideal.
A lovely 'oldie worldie' hotel with all the quaintness and quirkiness you'd expect with a hotel in the Cotswolds.
Whilst there was no parking at the hotel there was plenty of space to park in the surrounding area. If you like hotels with character this is the place. Each room is different but comfortable for a short stay and the staff are very friendly.
Very noisy due to being on main street with rowdy drinkers on the hotel's frontage necessitating closing the bedroom windows resulting in stuflingly hot room
The battered fish had plenty of batter but a miniscule anount of fish, no more than 30g as an estimate.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Expensive for what is offered
Try and avoid the rooms at the front of the hotel. Traffic noise throughout the night not helped by late night revellers. Could not get the shower to stop dripping which also did not help sleep.
Friendly small hotel with proper quirky rooms. Bar and restaurant offering good selection of beers including Clarksons Hawkstone lager (Really very good). Pretty courtyard at the back - very quiet away from the bustle of Burford High Street. Noise from the road can intrude at night but we still managed a decent nights sleep in a comfortable bed. All in all a nice hotel in a great spot…would recommend.
