Busselton Jetty is one of the longest jetties in the Southern Hemisphere. Walk along this impressive wooden structure, or ride a small train, to the jetty’s underwater observatory. The jetty is close to many other major attractions, including Busselton Beach and Port Geographe Marina.
Visit the Busselton Jetty Interpretative Centre, a boat shed-style centre about 50 metres (160 feet) offshore. Shop for unique homewares, gifts, souvenirs, mementos and books. Many of the home décor pieces and furniture items have been crafted from reused timber salvaged from the jetty.
Stop by the Cultural Heritage Museum located within the interpretative centre. This small museum features educational audio-visual displays and artefacts outlining the jetty’s history, which dates back to the mid-19th century. The Cultural Heritage Museum also includes information on the underwater observatory and local marine life.
Ride the jetty train across the immaculate Geographe Bay waters. This small leisurely train runs along 1.7 kilometres (1.1 miles) of Busselton Jetty. The train departs hourly from the interpretative centre. Look for dolphins swimming in the calm waters as you ride Busselton’s famous train.
Experience one of Western Australia’s best man-made reefs at the Busselton Jetty Underwater Observatory. This remarkable facility is located at the end of Busselton Jetty. It is home to around 300 different marine species, including invertebrates, fish and sponges. Descend 8 metres (26 feet) into the viewing chamber and discover a beautiful environment of tropical and subtropical coral.
Walk to Busselton Jetty from the centre of Busselton in about 15 minutes. Discounted admission rates apply for families. Children aged 16 and under visit the jetty for free, however the jetty train and underwater observatory attract additional fees. Use parking bays near Busselton Beach’s foreshore when visiting the jetty. Stop at many nearby waterfront restaurants serving fresh seafood and modern Australian cuisine.
With the famous jetty train, unsurpassed views of Geographe Bay and the remarkable underwater observatory, Busselton Jetty is perfect for a day out.
