"The road up is narrow and a little challenging but so worth the breathtaking views !!! The pool overlooking the hills and the manicured landscaping were top notch! We were close enough to a small town to enjoy the local restaurants good food, groceries and other towns to do day trips as well. The Villa had everything to make our Stay very comfortable. The little cottage allowed us two couples separate sleeping and bathroom privacy."

"First of all a tip of the hat to Tommaso, our host. He is really on the ball, you ask him something and almost immediately he responds or drops by to see what's up. The Villa Nerino has 5 bedrooms, each with a very nicely appointed bath. I recommended to him that he install safety bars in the baths (I am disabled). So I expect he will do so, he was very receptive to that idea. The Villa is a little out of the way, which translates to lots of peace and quiet. You need a car to get around, which...

"This was our second visit to Massimo’s villa. It’s so peaceful and beautiful. The views are out of a storybook. Massimo is one of the nicest, kindest people that you’ll ever meet. We will return again and again! "

"This was exactly as described, Massimo was very engaging and informative, he told the history around the house and surroundings, the place is quaint and cozy, (especially the little wood stove), it was exhilarating to come home to after visiting busy, noisy Florence and Venice, climbing the windy little road was an experience in itself, if you love peace and quiet this is the place. "Fantastic location, wonderful people, home cooked meal was amazing. Relaxing, wonderful furnishings. Beware that the heat is very expensive if you use it! Kitchen is awesome to cook and views are unbelievable. Couldnt reccommend more for a true Tuscany experience. Views are stupendous. "We had the most wonderful stay at the villa which also served as our wedding venue. Giacomo was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to ensure the villa was perfect for our wedding day. The onsite facilities are lovely and very well equipped. The views from many of the apartment windows are absolutely breathtaking. We could’t have found a better venue to host our friends and family in the lead up to our wedding day and as a wedding venue. We truly had the most perfect Tuscan wedding!"

"Luca is a very hospitable and friendly host! The house is exactly as in the pictures with a private entry gate and parking. The jacuzzi is heated and very relaxing. We really enjoyed the late night BBQs next to the pool. The house is perfect for 2-9 people. If you would like a relaxing holiday with privacy and luxury this is the perfect spot for you!"

It is on 3 levels with connecting spiral staircase plus a loft. Sarah was a wonderful host, very helpful and responsive. Bagni di Lucca is well past its glory days, but still charming and a short rather steep walk from the house. This is not the Tuscany we imaged with vistas of rolling hills and hilltop towns:...

"Hotel Ilaria is a lovely hotel in the cute town of Lucca. It is quiet, clean and comfortable with a perfect location for exploring the town. Breakfast was delicious with lots of healthy options in addition to typical Italian pastries. The evening complimentary happy hour was wonderful. I met some lovely fellow travelers and had a great time. The best part of the hotel is the staff. The young man at the front desk was extremely kind and welcoming. He helped me purchase tickets to an evening of opera as part of the Puccini festival. It was wonderful. This one staff member (apologies that I didn’t write down his name) made my stay extra special with his kindness. And he looked great in the green hotel uniform suit (as did the young woman too). Thank you for making me feel that hotel Ilaria in Lucca was my home away from home. "

"Great value for a hotel! Slightly out of the city centre but very walkable distance. The room had enough space for two people, the bathroom facilities were perfect for what we needed, with a well functioning shower and plenty of towels. The staff were really helpful and friendly. We didn’t have the breakfast but to have had the option for an included breakfast is even better value! Would recommend this hotel and would stay here again. "
