Compton Guest House was comfortable and the check-in process was straight forward. The property is dog friendly in a pleasant area, and parking would normally be fine I suspect. I stayed there during a weekend of snow, ice and rain, so my experience of the parking situation and local area was mixed. Lots of information about places to visit and options for food. The room I was in lacked glasses and cutlery, and the socket for the kettle was awkward, but otherwise had everything you would need for a nice stay with a comfy bed and a clean and tidy ensuite bathroom. I would certainly stay here again and recommend it for a pleasant break in Buxton.

Buxton break
We were allocated room 2. The en-suite is tiny. After talking with the manager we had one night in 2 and then moved to room 7. This room was much bigger and more importantly so was the en-suite. The property is within easy walking distance of the town centre and in a quiet street.

Overall our two nights were good room and property were very clean and there's a kitchen for food. A couple of points would be to have a blind on the bathroom door window mainly because the morning light comes in and wound add more privacy. Also we found the mattresses uncomfortable and springy so didn't get a great sleep but its a lovely property and would stay again if beds were comfier

Our room for the family (room 1, sleeps 3) was clean and cozy with an en suite bathroom. The property manager upgraded us from a room without an attached bathroom after learning we have a young child with us. The property is located in a quiet part of town with short walks to the centre, restaurants, convenience stores, and hiking routes. We were comfortable and enjoyed our stay.

lovely stay spoilt by drunken rowdy guests
Beautiful house, lovely room, and very close to the centre of Buxton... I had the misfortune of staying there, which was supposed to be a relaxing couple of days away, at the same time a group of males were staying who thought it was acceptable to go out and get drunk , come back and then proceed to argue and shout at each on the landings and storm about slamming doors , arguing in the street and then come back in and start all over. As there is no owner on site I felt somewhat uncomfortable to say the least....I know as an owner you cannot always control what your guests are doing, but it spoilt my stay

On the positive, it was clean & tidy. On the negative side Room no 2 classed as an ensuite room but no washbasin in the bathroom. Washbasin in the bedroom very unhygienic. Should not be classed as ensuite. Instructions to ring the proprietor on arrival but no reply. He did call back 30 minutes later but the check in was stated at 2 pm but we were unable to check in then. Because of the above reasons i would not return or feel able to recommend.
