The best hotel of our entire Portuguese trip! Great location in Alfama, the hotel is super clean, modern, aesthetic with cool tech design tweaks. Walkable to everything. Staff os friendly and polite.

amazing property! spacious bedrooms, handy staff and convenient location. People complain of the hill to the hotel, but it’s fine - if you can’t be asked to walk, an uber from the centre is £4. Amazing, 10/10 hotel

From the minute I arrived, I was made to feel very welcome. The pretty, tiled entrance was a cool haven from the heat. I booked a superior room with a balcony which was spacious, clean and a bit of a treat for solo travelling me. The decor of the room was modern and comfortable - very comfy bed, too - plenty of storage. A good sized shower room, clean towels everyday.
Breakfast was a nice, fresh buffet - with the option of cooked eggs if you want. A good selection of cold cuts, bread, cheese, fruit, juice, hot drinks.... Everything is immaculate in the little dining room.
All staff that I met were delightful - friendly, chatty, caring and happy to help with recommendations.
A nice touch was the communal mini bar - a cold beer after 8-10 hours walking and exploring was always going to hit the mark!
I loved my time at 1869 - as a solo female traveller it is crucial to have a safe place to return to and rest each evening.
And the final thing to comment on is the proximity to cafés, restaurants, high end shops, gardens and some truly beautiful residential roads.
