The Hideout at Palo Duro Canyon - Buffalo Lodge

Buffalo Lodge at the Hideout at Palo Duro Canyon! Located just outside Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Texas character at its finest.l!

NEW 2023 Buffalo Lodge now has an outdoor fire pit with 4 Adirondack chairs.

We have two cabins here on over 6 private acres, and can accommodate larger groups, 8 guests total, when our second cabin (Rider’s Roost), is also rented.

NOTE: This cabin is not suitable for children under age 12. We do not allow pets.

Located on over six private acres, the inside of this 1100 square foot pioneer-style luxury cabin is filled with turn-of-the-century charm and modern comfort. A retreat for family or friends, or a romantic getaway. A bottle of champagne awaits, as well as breakfast and many other extra amenities. Here you can relax, recharge and unwind in the true spirit of the old west!

The Hideout is private! There is only one other rental on the property, our stable quarters which your party can also rent to accommodate more guests.

NEW 2021, we now have a double carport to protect your vehicle against the blazing hot sun, occasional summer hail storms, and winter ice and snow storms.

We are closer to the state park than any other vacation rentals, truly! The floor plan is spacious with comfortable beds (no sofa beds to pull out), and no crowding. There are two dining tables, one inside and another on the screened in porch, so you can enjoy your BBQ without those pesky flies. Read on for cabin details.....

If you're in the mood to explore, Palo Duro Canyon State Park is right there, and the entrance to this “Grand Canyon of Texas" is just a mile further up the road. Visitors explore by car, hiking, horseback, and bike (best mountain biking around). Right by the Park are Palo Duro Zip Line Adventures, Palo Duro Creek Ranch Jeeping tours, and Palo Duro Riding Stables. Spring Break at the Canyon

The property was beautiful and located about 2 minutes from the entrance of the Canyon...could not have been more convenient. Andrea was amazing and provided everything we needed. Her animals were such a great plus to have on the property as well. It was a wonderful trip, we would stay here 100 times over. Highly recommend.

Fabulous Stay

Love, love, love this place! One of the most thoughtfully put together cabins we have stayed. The owners really went out of their way with details! Provided breakfast food to cook, complete with mimosas. Hope to come back!

trip to palo duro canyon

Found this cabin near canyon at half the price of other canyon cabins. Very private property. Quiet. Cabin is weather tight, temperature controlled. All furnishings and decor picked with excellent taste and a desire to showcase artists and small business owners. Beds very comfortable. Furnished breakfast supplies delicious. Owners suggestions for local places to visit are excellent. Highly recommend this place.

Amazing Property and Hosts

My family enjoy several days over Spring Break at the Hideout. The pictures are great but actually seeing the property was even better. We were able to fish the pond, enjoy the old west feel of the house, and hang out with the horses on property. Our hosts were extremely helpful with every question we had. We will be back soon. Regarding location, it doesn’t get much better. We were 10 minutes from Canyon and 5 minutes from the park and horseback riding. We had a blast.

Great Time at The Hideaway!

Great location just a couple of minutes from the entrance to Palo Duro Canyon. The property was absolutely spotless and there we some very nice welcome gifts including some eggs just fresh from the chicken coop and other breakfast fixings. The property had everything my wife and I needed for our visit. The hostess, Andrea, reached out to us a couple of times to ensure that we had everything we needed for our visit. It was a great visit and we look forward to returning sometime!

Very nice cabin and close to the state park

The house interior was beautifully decorated and the owner was nice enough to leave us food in the fridge. My kids loved it as the owner allowed us to interact with the animals they owned. It was never boring there and the best part was that the location was super close to the state park so we were able to get there in time for the sunrise over the canyon.

Location and decor was on point. Amenities were over the top! Great place for R&R and close proximity to park and other activities. The town of Canyon was only a 15-minute drive where you can find restaurants, museums, etc... We thoroughly enjoyed all the animals on the property and our host was very accommodating. Perfect Location to Explore Palo Duro

We had an amazing stay at The Hideout. The property is mere minutes from Palo Duro State Park. You can't be any closer! Andrea, our host, clearly puts a lot of love into providing a great experience for guests. The cabin is well furnished and has a well stocked kitchen. The farm fesh eggs were such a nice treat. We loved watching the horses graze from the comfort of the screened patio and spent our evenings enjoying the cool spring air. I'd highly recommend a stay here for a truly unique Texas Panhandle experience.

The Hideout at Palo Duro Canyon

A perfect place to rest and relax away from all city noises while visiting the area, especially Palo Duro Canyon State Park, which is only 1.5 miles away. The decor of the cabin is rustic and includes a delightful, screened in porch with a swing and table that seats six comfortably. We didn't spend a lot of time in the cabin during the day as we were visiting our son and his family who were camping in the State Park. We took advantage of several amenities such as wi-fi and a full kitchen and refrigerator complete with fresh eggs and bagels provided by Andrea. We will certainly recommend The Hideout to our friends and family.

Romantic old west cabin

This is a beautiful cabin. It has a wonderful screened in porch, and you can hear the waterfall in the pond. My son and I stayed up to see the Milkyway in the dark sky. Inside it is decorated vintage upper class home style of the old west, with all the modern comforts. It would be great for romantic getaways. The owner was pleasant, very easy to talk to and knowledgeable about the area. We enjoyed our stay and hope to come back soon. R. J
