Wonderful Property in a beautiful location
The property is very private, with sweeping views across Discovery Bay / Cape Bridgewater. It can act as a perfect base for activities in the area and there is plenty to explore around the property itself. I’m looking forward to staying again the future!

wow what a great week we had. Great cottage that has everything you need to make it a really comfortable stay....if you really want to get off the grid this is the place. No internet or even mobile phone reception (well not with ours anyway)..this is the place for you. Great views of the ocean....so many great walks to explore the coastline....the seal colony to the blow holes was great...seals,wallabies and roos....along the way and some great views of the coast . Feel really recharged after our much needed week away. Thank you Phil...you have a gem of a place and we hope to come back and stay again.... !!!!!!!!!

Simply wonderful
Phil's house has an amazing view and is a beautiful place to relax. This is our second stay and we'll be back. Sitting on the verandah, you can see the sand dunes and the sea, and watch many birds, especially blue fairy wrens, and kangaroos - and cows of course. The house is simple and easy to be in.

Phil’s cottage is positioned in a very special place. The views are simply stunning and the privacy is a welcome escape from suburban living. Phil is great to communicate with and is a really nice guy as well. We will return to stay again at our earliest opportunity.

A secluded cottage with an amazing view
Down a long driveway, past a mob of kangaroos you will find this amazing cottage. Perched on the ridge it overlooks farmland with a long view to the sea. It is sublime!! Wildlife and seclusion - great for families, couples and a single like me!

We loved our time at Discovery cottage. The peace and quiet, the views, the wildlife, the cosy cottage, the log fire and the roar of the waves in the distance. We really didn’t want to leave and will definitely be back again. Thank you for a wonderful and magical place to recharge the batteries.

An incredible find! The house has views you never want to leave, the kitchen had everything we needed, the wood fire was wonderful, every thing was clean, Phil who we got to meet by chance was great and Cape Bridgewater feels like an untouched part of the world!! Loved the walks and thanks Phil for the directions to the beach across the sand dunes ....we are still talking about feeling as though we were the only people in this fine part of the world. We will certainly be back in winter and can't wait to come in summer also. Thanks for a great stay

A cosy, comfortable cottage set in a delightful spot with scenic views and much Australian fauna.
This delightful cottage is situated on top of a hill overlooking the sand hills across to the ocean and lakes. Because the weather was variable the view was constantly changing and it was interesting watching the weather change coming in from the ocean from either the front windows or front veranda. The property has many walking areas and kangaroos have a constant presence around the grounds. It is also in close proximity to some wonderful walking trails along the nearby cliffs. A lovely spot to come back to after a long walk, light the fire and just relax with a good book from the extensive library.

Lovely accommodation with stunning views.
Very comfortable and clean cottage with everything you need. My daughters (11 and 13) and I spent 4 nights here and loved it. From the resident kangaroos and fairy wrens to the magnificent views, this spot has it all. We conquered the trek over the sand dunes to the wild beach and took in the surrounding sights. The fire was much appreciated on the colder nights! Hope to visit again. Thank you!

Stunning views, perfect for nature lovers
An amazing view of Discovery Bay from the cottage verandah and inside, no matter the weather. Wood fire kept us cozy on the colder, rainy nights. The property has access to hiking tracks leading out into the dunes - a tough climb, but worth it for the views. Wildlife galore, with kangaroos to greet us every morning and night along the driveway, as well as emus in the distant dunes and we even sighted a wedge-tailed eagle a few times hovering over the property. Driving along the outskirts of Mt Richmond National Park, a short drive away, we saw an echidna, koala, and even stopped to let a tiger snake make it's way across the (admittedly bumpy in my little car) dirt road. The Maritime Discovery Museum in the Portland town centre was interesting and informative, and we were lucky enough to see a seal out by the nearby piers. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable week of holiday. We definitely left feeling recharged, but reluctant to leave the tranquil space.

We loved our stay at Discovery Bay cottage.
Discovery Bay cottage has the most amazing veranda sitting! The house is comfortable. The blue fairy wrens, magpies and kangaroos intrigued us and shared their home with us. The walk through the property and over the sand dunes to Discovery Bay was great (emus in the dunes!). It is also close to Bridgewater for swimming, the Glenelg River, and the freshwater ponds just over the border in SA.
