Boat Dock & Island Clubs Included 3 pools, Kayaks, Tennis & 5 min walk to Beach

Located on North Captiva Island, in Safety Harbor Club, this comfortable home is conveniently located near beaches, pools, and boat docks. It is nestled among the native palms, and has a private, wildlife-friendly setting you will love. North Captiva is a bridge-less, car-free island situated in between the coastal barrier islands of Captiva and Cayo Costa. Transportation to the island is provided by scheduled water taxis, private charter, or your own boat. The island has over 5 miles of pristine sandy beaches to explore and the southern portion includes over 350 acres of protected state park land. Golf carts, bicycles, and sandy feet are the typical mode of transportation (shoes are optional).

Guests of Gumbo Limbo will be registered with both The Island Club at North Captiva and the Safety Harbor Club and will have use of their amenities including their 3 large pools, tennis courts, private beach access and use of sea kayaks and bicycles. Through special arrangement with the host (boat registration and insurance information provided for Safety Harbor Club) boat dock space can be used at the Safety Harbor Club wharf. With, or without a boat, guests will enjoy fishing, wildlife watching or enjoying sunrises and moonrises from the harbor docks.

Gumbo Limbo is available for up to 6 guests. The first level of the house includes the living and dining areas, the first floor porches and decks, an outdoor shower, the kitchen, first floor bedroom and bathroom. There is a queen sized bed in the bedroom and a couch with queen size pull out bed in the living area. The second level (accessed by spiral staircase) included 2 full size beds, an attached bathroom with bathtub/shower, and a small outdoor deck (perfect for star gazing or sun bathing). Starlink internet service offers fast reliable internet for guests.

Gumbo Limbo's rates do not include the use of a golf cart. In order to keep our rental rates low, we are leaving the golf cart business to others who know how to best maintain and deliver this service. Guests can rent a golf cart from Barrier Island Carts (best rate), The Island Club, or Boats and Fun. Please ask us to send you a FAQs page with these contacts.

All photos of Gumbo Limbo were taken after Hurricane Ian. (Gumbo Limbo weathered the 2022 storm like an champ and received minimal damage!) North Captiva back to its "paradise" status, and, in some areas, is looking even better than pre-storm! The beaches are just spectacular! Beautiful white sand and clear sparkling waters teeming with amazing wildlife! Safety Harbor pool and tennis courts are in great shape and the Safety Harbor Club wharf and docks have been rebuilt. The Over The Waterfront restaurant is serving up delicious meals (reservations required) and is highly recommended! The Island Club pools are sparkling clean, heated and in use. Mangos poolside bar and grill are open and serving tasty food and drinks and the Island Market has fun merchandise, a coffee bar and ice cream shop to enjoy! The Island Club's water taxi and Island Girl Charters are providing regular daily scheduled service to the island. Boats and Fun is renting golf carts and boats, and provides custom water taxi services. Gumbo Limbo Paradise
This property is exactly as described, or better! Sandy, the host is responsive and accommodating, though there were absolutely no issues. The home is immaculate and well appointed with everything needed for a carefree family get away. The property is private, surrounded by lush trees and plants; without a lot of cart or foot traffic. My family loved the outdoor shower for after beach sand removal! The beds and linens were very comfortable. Though an easy 5-10 minute walk to a beach, I would recommend a golf cart rental to comfortably explore the island and transport umbrellas, picnic items, etc to beaches with ease. Sandy is a very informative host, providing recommendations and considerations to make your stay as simple as possible. We thank her for sharing her home with us and will definitely return!!!

Absolutely perfect!
Our family of five stayed at Gumbo Limbo July 6-13, and everyone thought it was perfect! This property is very well maintained, appointed with just about anything you could possibly want, and is very conveniently located in relation to docks and the beach. Sandy (the host) is exceptionally responsive and helpful, especially if this were your first time on North Cap. She sends you an e-packet full of info on logistics, groceries, and island amenities. Morning coffee on the back porch swing was heaven, and the outdoor shower is epic, perfect for washing off the sand and salt! The kitchen? Smh, it's better stocked than our own! The kids loved the upstairs loft, with it's own bath, balcony, and TV. After a long day of beach life, they'd all just crash up there and relax. We've stayed in places up and down Captiva/Sanibel over the years, and combining this house with the overall North Cap vibe, we rate it the best. Thank you Sandy, we really could not have been happier!

Unforgettable Family Getaway at Gumbo Limbo in North Captiva Island Home
Our family of six, including two adults and four children aged 4-12, had the most incredible stay at Sandy's beautiful home on North Captiva Island. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the charm and convenience of this centrally located gem. The kitchen was a dream, equipped with everything we needed to cook every meal. The highlight for the kids (and adults!) was the ice cream machine, which added a fun and delicious touch to our evenings. Access to both island clubs was a fantastic perk, providing us with plenty of activities and entertainment options. Gumbo Limbo thoughtfully provided every beach essential imaginable, saving us from the hassle of lugging extra luggage. From umbrellas to beach toys, we had everything we needed for a perfect beach day. Sandy's responsiveness and dedication to ensuring our stay was perfect truly stood out. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable, addressing any questions or needs promptly. Best Spring Break Ever!!
Magical island property, perfect fit for our family of four. We loved access to TWO swimming pools, the tennis courts, and endless beach exploration. Simply Amazing
This is our 4th place we have stayed on the island and it truly was our favourite. We are big tennis players, so proximity to safety harbour was key. Although the house looks at the courts, the neighbour does not allow you to cross his property so the walk is a little longer than expected. Also great to have membership/easy access to island club. Teens loved being able to walk everywhere. House is immaculate and host were wonderful to deal with. Absolutely will be back. FYI cart rental is separate. Not sure anyone ever showered inside, outdoor shower was a bonus.

AMAZING!
Gorgeous home with everything we needed for cooking and beach fun! Really appreciated access to the two clubs' pool and amenities- quite a chilly week so it was great to be able to hit the pool and get out of the wind at the beach. We used Debbie at Fresh Pick Grocery for grocery shopping and delivery, she's fantastic! We will definitely be back, thanks for everything Sandy!

Gumbo Limbo is a beautiful home, only a short walk from Island Club and Safety Harbor swimming pools with privileges at both. It has a spacious, modern, well-stocked kitchen and an open floor plan with tasteful, lovely furnishings. The owners were only a text away and responded quickly to our questions. With an outdoor shower, we could always wash off the sand from our shell-collecting adventures and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets on the beach before coming inside after our long days on North Captiva. The kitchen has purified drinking water and a wonderful ice machine, paper towels and napkins, and a cabinet with salt and pepper and an assortment of spices. Our bungalow also had a washer and dryer stocked with laundry soap and softener, bath soap, and shampoo and conditioner. The beds are comfortable and a quiet AC kept indoor temps perfect. We had ample clean bath towels and a big basket of beach towels for our use. Don’t forget to reserve a golf cart ahead (cost in summer 2023 is $79/day) as the house did not provide one. The homeowners left us personal notes, treats, and a nice welcome gift. We highly recommend this beautiful beach home and would gladly stay here again.

Wonderful Rental!
This is a beautiful and well maintained rental property. My kids and I really enjoyed our stay on North Captiva and in this property. Lovely furniture, new appliances, and just a nice space to be in -- lots of natural light and a beautiful setting around it. Owners were easy to work with and made the whole process a pleasure. Amazing island, lovely accomodations - perfect for our small family
We cannot say enough about our experience on North Captiva Island! The accommodations were perfectly appointed with just what we needed (kitchen and bath essentials, high chair, pack'nplay, beach chairs, umbrellas, etc.) We loved the proximity to the beach and access to the pools for the kids. As of March 2023, there is no store on the island so make sure to bring any consumables with you! Homes and amenities are still recovering from the hurricane. One restaurant is open and another only for lunch. Loved seeing the Gopher Tortoises, manatees, dolphins, osprey, etc. Host was very thorough and helpful with figuring out the logistics (taxi, ferry, golf cart rental, etc.) Cannot wait to plan a return trip!

What a gorgeous little house on a gorgeous little island! The house is clean, decorated perfectly and has everything you need. The couch and chairs are so comfortable and so was the bed! We loved this little place and had a great week on North Captiva Island. Sandy was so great to deal with and answered every question we had. Favorite part was the sandbar at the beach where you can walk so far out into the ocean and watch dolphins swim by and collect sand dollars! Oh yeah, don’t forget to get a pina colada at Mangos!
