The Space:
Tiny Rescue Retreat by Tiny Away can be found within the Campaspe Shire. It’s just 35 minutes from the city of Shepparton and an hour drive from Bendigo. Discover your neighbors, Porshy the 10-year-old pig, and Dozer the 8-year-old blind pig, in their Piggy Lane retirement village, while rescue horses graze nearby.
Enjoy a firepit sunset with entertaining sheep antics. Located near Kyabram Fauna Park, Girgarre, Billabong Ranch, Violet Town Market, and Mitchelton Wines, Sanctuary Haven offers a cozy experience amidst rescued farm animals and exciting local attractions.
A cozy 139-square-foot accommodation is set in one of the best tiny house rentals and serene locations with abundant rustic farmland, easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas-heated for hot showers).

Guest Access:
Guests can access the tiny house and surrounding areas. Gates to the paddocks cannot be opened unless supervised. Guests will have access up and down the lane that runs through the heart of the property. No opening farm gates apart from the one entering the property.

- Kyabram Fauna Park is home to more than 400 native Australian animals including koalas, dingoes, kangaroos, cassowaries, wombats, wallabies, etc. It encompasses 55 hectares of open woodland, wetlands, and lakes.
- Girgarre is a small town with a big heart for music, markets, and community. One of the town’s most famous attractions is the Farmers’ Produce and Craft Market. With live music, tantalizing food options, and an array of artisan goods, arts, and crafts.
- Mitchelton Wines specializes in Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, and Chardonnay. Its estate vineyards include Nagambie, Heathcote, and the Yarra Valley, from which a variety of wines are sourced.
- The Violet Town Market is a thriving, community market renowned for its friendly atmosphere with over 250 stalls. You will find fresh produce, baked goods, arts and crafts, jewelry, wine and beer tastings, plants, tools, furniture, and more!
Getting Around:
By car:
- From Bendigo, only an hour drive
- From Ballarat, it's a 2hrs, 24 mins drive
- From Melbourne, it's a 2 and a half hours drive
By public transport:
- There is a train line from Melbourne to Rochester. It's the closest train station to the property, no local public transport.
Other Things to Note:
- Wifi is not available
- BBQ Grill is not available
- Smoking is not allowed on the property
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- Mobile reception has good signals for all telco lines
- Please conserve water usage as tank water is used
- Please be advised that we have livestock (and noise) on our property
- Keep a safe distance from pets and farm animals as they are easily agitated
- Note that during the wet season, the drive to the property could get a little muddy
- Don’t forget to close the windows and lock doors when leaving the tiny house/ property
- Make sure to turn off the lights, air conditioning, and electronics (e.g., especially chargers)
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- Please follow signs set up around the houses on the type of feed that can be given to the animals
- We are a vegan farm sanctuary and request that you please consider leaving animal products off the property
Important note:
- Keep in mind that outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present in the surrounding areas
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the [compost/cassette] toilets and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
