We saw scarlet macaws and toucans regularly and were fortunate enough to see a tapir pointed out by the very helpful property manager and tour guide, Yeri. The house has simple but impressive amenities for how remote the area is. The drive to get there is an adventure in itself but you could not be closer to the park once you arrive! "Norlyn our host was extremely communative and helpful with our trip planing and on arrival. Norlyn helped us to arrange our airport transfer, Cano Island trip and water taxi out to Sierpe. He even gave us a lift down to the beach for these activities. Wonderful breakfasts, different everyday while watching colourful birds om the feeder and flying by. Special place, affordable, clean, safe and walking distance to restaurants and shops. "

"Great trip, lovely spacious property. Interesting roads, you want a proper 4x4. Good access to beaches. Our trip was over the holidays and it was wonderful to have Chef Jafa available to make delicious meals. Power was a little sketchy but was fine with some feedback. Strong recommendation!"

"This place is truly part of the jungle - we saw tons of bird and had monkeys, coatis and even a huge spider inside of the treehouse. We felt one with nature, while still living in a very clean and comfortable space. There were no mosquitos at night which was a pleasant surprise! When we arrived Joel greeted us with a smile and even helped us make a dinner reservation down the road at Encanta La Vida since we didn't bring much food with us. Orlando is an excellent host & we met others working on the newest home which looks spectacular too! "We were in Drake Bay for three nights for a couple of days of diving with our two adult children. The house was perfectly situated, lots of space, and an amazing covered deck area with an afternoon breeze. Everything went very smoothly from first communications through to check-out. Overall we have no hesitation giving this house five stars."

"Very difficult to get to - hour and a half of bumpy roads to Carate, then a 3.5k hike. The logistics were not well communicated, but worked out fine. Hot (mid-April visit). "Mila was exceptional & always greeted us with a warm friendly smile. She helped accommodate us as a family member was sick. Mila also went out of her way to help me celebrate my birthday We stayed at the very top of the property which was amazing but not for those who are elderly or struggle with a step climb. "

Great place to stay

"Very fun stay at Cotingas, despite the tours we had booked being cancelled because of excessive rain. Needless to say, that was no fault of the hotel but it did mean we spent more time there and realized what a great place it was. Excellent location right next to the town but still quiet; lots of animal sightings, a great view--albeit mostly of rain on this occasion--and very good service from the excellent staff. We want to go back to Drake Bay and do what we could not this time--and when we do we will certainly stay here again."
