LA ROSE APARTMENT is surrounded by rich natural vegetation, and boasts a panoramic view of the tranquil Castries City Bay, Vigie Peninsula, Vigie Lighthouse, George Charles Airport (SLU), Vigie Cove Marina, Point Seraphine Duty Free Shopping Complex & Cruise Ship Terminal and Castries City; as well as a hint of the island’s breathtaking northern region from Choc Bay to Gros Islet, visible just beyond the picturesque Vigie Peninsula.

The elegant fully furnished self catering LA ROSE APARTMENT is engulfed by all that guests would require for an enjoyable stay. You are within walking distance (½ mi) from the sun-drenched white sand La Toc Beach and it's fun water sports; a beautiful undulating 9 hole Golf Course manicured to perfection; and the Redland Spa featuring its 'Rub-A-Dub-Dub Two In A Tub' full body massage special. Also, the public transportation “bus stop” is but a one minute walk away from the apartment.

The Castries Bay area is home to many delightful restaurants and bars, which are located either on the shoreline of the Vigie Cove (3 mi drive) or downtown central Castries (2 mi drive).
Castries City, Rodney Bay Village (6 mi drive north) and Gros Islet Town (6.5 mi drive north), with their many exquisite restaurants, bars and night life traditionally beckons all. However, the local flavors emerging from the “Fish Fry Festival” in Anse La Ray Village (6.6 mi drive south), as well as the restaurants and marina night life at Marigot Bay (4.5 mi drive south) cannot be out done and eagerly awaits you.

If shopping is your forte, Castries City is your place. The shops in central Castries, and in the newly built Blue Coral Mall, offer everything you can possibly need at very attractive prices. However, if you fancy duty free shopping this can be achieved within La Place Carenage Duty Free Shopping Mall in central Castries, and at the Point Seraphine Duty Free Shopping Complex - a 3 minute ferry ride from La Place Carenage to the opposite side of the Castries Bay.

LA ROSE APARTMENT, with its private balcony entrance, provides guests with independence, privacy, relaxation and security. The apartment is designed to house two adults with a maximum of two children up to 12 years. Older children or larger groups may require an addition apartment on property. Note, our hillside location may not be suitable for guests with walking challenges.

After your airport pickup the chauffeur will stop at a supermarket / convenience store, allowing you to “stock up” with supplies for your vacation. Otherwise simply e-mail the shopping list at least 48 hrs before your arrival. Your room will be charged with your pre-arrival purchase.

It is your vacation and we are equipped to make it the most enjoyable and memorable holiday you have ever experienced. Your wedding, car rental, deep sea fishing, taxi tour to Soufriere Sulphur Springs and Piton Mountain Peaks (13 mi drive), rainforest sky rides, helicopter tours, morning jogs with the property owners, etc., are all easily arranged. You request it, we will provide it ....... guaranteed!!!

John and Shirley are incredibly helpful
Everything was incredibly well organized and clean. John and Shirley were great with details such as airport transfer, finding a convenient car rental, and the like. This is a great location doing activities both in the north and the south.

Great View
Great view. It was nice sitting outside having tea in the morning. Also nice at night. Great breeze. John (host) very accommodating. Anything needed, he was very responsive. Apartment was 5 minutes away from Castries but we regularly went to eat in Rodney Bay.

Wonderfully relaxing stay
The pictures do not do the location justice. The views of the bay are beautiful. There's something about sipping your first cup of coffee while watching a cruise ship slide into the bay and tie up at La Place Carenage that is completely relaxing. John and Shirley have created a little piece of paradise and anyone who stays with them will experience it first hand. I must admit, driving down their driveway for the first time made me hope that our rental car's brakes had been recently checked. This was our 7th trip to St. Lucia and we loved our stay overlooking the bay.

A Great Bargain With A Breathtaking View
Our hosts John and Shirley couldn't have been more gracious! They transported us to and from the airport, and upon our arrival greeted us with a delicious rum punch. John also offers discounted taxi service and makes it a point to be available for his guest's needs. The apartment is equipped with all that one would need, is clean and comfortable. The view from the front balcony was spectacular. We enjoyed watching the cruise ships come in and out of the bay every day. I would highly recommend these accomodations for those that want to explore this beautiful island, whether you use a rental car, accessable public transportation, or John's personal car service. Thank you so much John and Shirley for making our stay so great! Linda and Bob

Home Away from Home in Beautiful St. Lucia
John and Shirley are the perfect hosts... there every moment that you need them and respectful of your private space. The apartment is perfectly equiped so that you can function as you would at home. We loved being able to cook and grill out for ourselves with local foods from the market. Delicious! Having a car allowed us the freedom to explore the entire island and spend each day somewhere new, knowing that each evening we could come "home" and sit on the terrace watching the activity of the harbour. We would recommend this apartment to anyone looking to enjoy more of a cultural experience that a hotel room can not provide. We hope to be back again. Thanks to the whole family. Chuck and Ria

A great apartment near Castries.
We spent 10 nights at this comfortable, in our view luxury apartment with stunning views over the Bay of Castries. The small fishing boats sailing in and out, occasionally running a big cruise ship in, the twittering of birds around you and in the distance you see Rodney Bay and Pigeon Island. The apartment is very quiet. Just 2 minutes (with a steep path) of the main road to Castries. Every few minutes there will be buses around to take you to the capital market. John and Shirley are very friendly and helpful if you ask, but let you calm your own way. We were there a few weeks after Hurricane Tomas the (South ) of the island was affected. Electricity and water are sometimes in the apartment turned out a little, but the extra water brought relief. This apartment is highly recommended espacialy for the beautiful view.

Terrific view- difficult access
This property, located high on a steep hill, has a terrific view of St. Lucia harbor. The property is well maintained, clean, and adequately equipped, although it would be helpful to have a toaster and a hot water kettle (for tea drinkers). Because of its location a rental car ($100 a day)is necessary to get around St. Lucia and the host can arrange that for you very easily, with the car being brought to you. What could be a challenge is the very steep and very badly maintained driveway to the property and if you are in the bottom three units, you will need to park at the very edge of the driveway, close to a sharp drop from the hill. St. Lucia is beautiful and the people are truly friendly and hospitable. For some visitors the problem may be that the multiple Sandals Resorts and others control the biggest parts of the beaches and while you can walk their beaches, you cannot use theme (no rental chairs or food) There are chairs, umbrellas, restaurants on a nice beach next to the airport -- your enjoyment will depend on your reactions to planes landing and taking off. For some, the multiple cruise ships that dock in St. Lucia every day (four of the six days we were there were three ships a day) which results in the island being subject to large number of cruise people heading off to the various island attraction making overcrowding that we did not enjoy.

Be prepared for amazing view on arrival
Great apartment; maybe not the one we were expecting, as the descriptions on the HomeAway site are confusing, but great none the less. Terrific view, and very helpful and knowledgeable owner on site. Difficult vertical access track to negotiate, but could not fault apartment

What you see is what you get!!
We spent a month in the Bay View Villa apartments during February 2017. Everything about the property was as good or better than shown in the listing. The owners, John and Shirley, are charming and extremely helpful during your stay. The view is exceptional and you can watch the cruise ships enter and leave the bay. We rented a car at the airport and drove to Castries, but I might suggest that you allow John to arrange to have you picked up at the airport and have him arrange a car be brought to the property for you to rent. A number of the others renting from him did just that. If you wish you can just walk a half block to the street and use the local bus to save the cost of a car. What you see is what you will get at Bay View and it is exceptional!! We loved everything about it.

La Rose Apartment is WONDERFUL- We love it and you will too!
In the year of 2013 we stayed for two weeks in the La Rose Apartment. The pictures are true to what you see and to what you get when you enter the apartment. There is free WiFi, a cell phone with minutes already on it. The owners offer help to just about everything. They can arrange for a rental car to be brought directly to the apartment or their driver, Anthony will take you just about anywhere you want to go, but for a fee of course. Anthony is very professional and looks the part of a professional. Arrangements can be made though the owners of the Apartment, John and Shirley to be waiting at the airport when you arrive. The drive to the apartment is lovely and the stops at the bread stand and the grocery store is very good. Locals are very nice and friendly and they take American Dollars and of course there are banks and the lime phone store where you can add minutes to your apartment cell phone. But, to see the island, you really need to rent a car, just be careful and driving in the the left side of the road. There are many different beaches which are all very nice, but we found the Marigot Bay beach to be small, clean, free of peddlers, groomed daily and beach chairs can be rented. You will love this beach and is not to be missed. It is a safe harbor with calm water. Rodney Bay Beach has lots of Peddlers and is is hot there, where as Marigot Bay Beach has tall king palms for shade, a small food and beer stand and it will call you back there each day. Getting back to the apartment, there is a laundry room in the apartment, a comfortable bed, nice kitchen appliances and everything you need to make your stay one to be remembered. BUT I do want to warn you, the view will keep you up at night for the twinkling lights of the Bay of La Toc and Castries is magnificent. Castries, being the capitol city, always has ships coming and going as well as cruise ships that pass directly in front of the apartment and there is nothing to block your view. You will also enjoy sitting on the covered porch watching the ships and the brief rain showers pass by. And, of course the apartment has nice air conditioning, which will keep you comfy. Having a nice drink on the porch or just relax watching TV is nice at the end of the day. We ate in most all the time and only ate out a few times. Be sure to ask locals where they eat for the food is really good and not made for tourists. We will be returning to the La Rose again this year and think of it as "home".We love this place

Best of Everything-This apartment has it ALL-including views
My husband and I stayed two wonderful weeks in the La Rose Apartment at BaySIde Villas and we are now planning a trip back. The views were beyond pretty-they kept me up nights looking out the windows. Ships come directly in front of the apartment which is located on the hillside and handy to everything. Easy drive to town, to the grocery and to everything, even has granite counter tops and the relaxing apartment at the end of the day-ahhhhhh-the nice A/C and restful porch. the laundry was a plus, as was the Wireless internet and the computer table-perfect! This beautiful apartment is so relaxing and comfortable, we just enjoyed it so much and having breakfast on the porch was nice as well, not to mention the afternoon sodas and Piton Beer my husband enjoyed. I loved the Coca Colas-delicious as well as the sweet bananas we bought each day along the roadside stands or in the grocery store. We did two tours and I do recommend them: The Segway Tour and the Boat Trip to the Pitons on the South End of the Island. Just being on the water was fabulous, but the view of the Piton Peaks was breathtaking! I recommend that you drive there for a day as well. Anthony, the trusted driver of John and Shirley picked us up at the airport, stopped at a wonerful bread stand along the way and the at the grocery store. It was a nice ride and Anthony was very professional and dress professional. This was on a Thursday and the next morning John the apartment owner took us for a ride around part of the island and to the grocery store again. Anthony too us to the Jump Up, Street Party in Gros Islet on Friday nigtht, but that is one thing you can miss for there were more non Islanders there than those who live on the Island, the food was expensive, there were rum and drink stands, but the music was loud. It was nothing like I had expected-just tourists walking up and down the street drinking too much. We left early. Saturday morning John arranged for a rental car to be brought to us at the apartment and our Vacation turned into a great trip and big adventure for once we got the car, we were gone somewhere every day almost for two weeks. There are many things to see and do on the Island and the beaches are all different. We liked the quietness of Beautiful Marigot Bay Beach the best, small with packed groomed sand, beach lounge chairs for a small fee and just nice.I want to say THANK YOU to our hosts, John and Shirley for all the help you gave us to make our stay wonderful.

EXTRA NICE Bayside Villa Apartment with views that will keep you looking out the windows
The La Rose apartment is beautiful at Bay Side Villas. It was our home for two weeks and will be again in 2014 for we are going back. The owners, John and Shirley are very helpful and they make sure your stay is going well. They live on the property. They have a trusted driver who will pick you up at the airport, make a couple of stops on the way to the apartment, including a grocery store. John can arrange for a rental car to be brought directly to you at the apartment-we recommend a car. This is beautiful and you don't want to miss anything. Guests are given a cell phone to use and it already has minutes on it. We made use of this feature and then added more minutes later. The views from the apartment are magnificent of the Castries Harbor/city and the northwest coastline. This apartment was exactly what we were looking for: an apartment in Castries on the hill/mountain side(Morne Fortune) with unobstructed views. The view out the kitchen and front windows of the bays and harbor where all the cruise ships pass directly in front of the apartments are magnificent. We stayed in a one bedroom which had two TV's with cable that enabled us not to miss out on American football games, WiFi, two A/C units, a computer table, a beautiful sofa(I think it makes into a bed ), nice kitchen with granite counter tops, table and chairs, stove, refrigerator, deep kitchen sink, washing machine, and a wall safe that you set your own combination. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook with-restaurants are very expensive. The grocery stores are handy- IGA stores have everything you want, just like back home, except many items you won't find back home, like Barons's Brand of Banana Ketchup, which is delicious-put it on everything. We really enjoyed eating in the apartment, but we did eat out two times. The apartment was nice to come back to each day, get a bite to eat, watch the harbor activties from the front porch while relaxing in the lounge chairs and sipping an ice cold Piton beer. Most days the island of Martinique is visible. The views kept me up late looking out the windows at the lights of the city. This is a safe place to stay and you will enjoy staying here at a reasonable rate. Don't miss Marigot Bay, as short drive to the south. Just say hello to Reds, the dog, but don't pet him. He is sweet and doesn't bark, but the owners don't want him spoiled. We highly recommend BaySideVillas as a wonderful place to stay while vacationing in Saint Lucia.

Beautiful Bayside - Home away from Home
Bayside Villa is certainly a home away from home. Everything that you need for the independent family who wish to cater to their own needs is provided. The view is awesome and the location to Castries and Rodney Bay is great. John and Shirley are excellent hosts. My family which included my husband and two children certainly enjoy our every moment in St Lucia. It was great coming back to the apartment after a hectic day and having the enviornment where we could have rested for another hectic day to follow. Will certainly recommend Bayside to visiting friends and family to this beautiful island of St. Lucia. Thank you John and Shirley on behalf of Victor, Matthew and Joshua. Kathy

Awesome stay
We found our entire stay in St. Lucia exceptional-can't say enough! We found this property exactly as it was described and John and Shirley to be the perfect hosts who bent over backwards to take care of us. The location was perfect for us as we were interested in soaking up the culture rather than doing the resort thing. The market was a great source for authentic Creole food and and was a 20 min walk down the hill and a 60 cent bus ride back up. A beautiful beach is just down the hill the other direction and in July when we went was nearly empty. The locals are charming and polite and we felt quite safe. If you like walking there are plenty of sites right around Castries and other attractions are only a 20 min bus or taxi ride away. We highly recommend the Fri night 'Jump up' in Gros Islet, the ziplining tours and catamaran tours to Soufriere packed with activities. We will be recommending this property on to friends and are looking forward to our next visit to this beautiful friendly gem of an island.j

Nice, but......
Very nice apartment. Very nice view. Very nice owner. Very barky dogs. We were awakened every night by the owner's dogs barking--and I wear ear plugs to bed because of my wife's snoring! 3:30 AM, 5 AM, 6 AM, you name it. They seem to hang out by the La Rosa end of the building where we were staying, so if you were at the other end of the building, it might not be a problem. I am very surprised this hasn't been mentioned, except probably most people don't want to say anything bad because the owners are nice people. But we wouldn't go back. I'm sure there are quieter places. BTW, we love dogs and own a black lab.

Great Villa!
I just got home from staying in the Bayside Villas managed by John and Shirley. My girlfriend and I visited St. Lucia twice during our month long excursion in the Caribbean and both times we stayed at Bayside Villas. We stayed in the La Rose apt and the L'Ixora apt. John and Shirley are excellent hosts and are always willing to help you with anything you need. Upon our arrival to the UVF airport, John promptly picked us up and drove us to the villas, which are on the La Toc peninsula just outside of the capital city Castries and overlook the Castries Bay. The villas are very clean and well stocked with everything that you need. Each villa has TV, high-seed wifi, kitchen with pots/pans, washing machine for laundry, local cell phone with 10 mins of talk time. I recommend that you bring a travel adaptor for plugging in computers, cell phone etc. Each apt has a front porch with a beautiful view of the Castries bay, just as the pictures show. There is no direct beach access, however, all of the beaches throughout St. Lucia are open to the public, including all resort beaches. The closest beach is the Sandals beach which is located down a long steep hill across the street from the villas. I recommend that you rent a car for your entire stay so that you can easily access the entire island. Soufriere and the Pitons are about an hour's drive south. Rodney bay is about a 20 min drive north. There is supermarket about a 5 min drive south. Most of the upscale restaurants are located in Rodney Bay and Soufriere. Overall, I highly recommend these villas to anyone looking to stay in a guest house and wishing to travel the island independently. The price is fantastic, the villas are very clean and nice, and the hosts are very warm and welcoming (We accompanied them to their local church for Easter service). Enjoy!

Wonderful place to stay
We loved this bay view villa. John, Shirley and their children are great. The view is amazing!! We loved sitting on the patio watching the cruise ships come and go. The villa is not really within walking distance to anything but John explained how the public busses worked (not really busses but vans) and we really enjoyed riding along with the locals. John's daughter's brownies are amazing! Best brownies I've ever eaten. Buy some if you get the chance. Thank you John and family for a wonderful vacation.

A Vacation Adventure
John and Shirley were more than your typical vacation rental owners. The apartment was well depicted in the description and photos. It was clean and well-maintained and offered a fantastic view. The owners appreciate that visitors from other countries may have many questions and needs after their arrival. They provided us with a local cell phone to use to book tours and to contact them if we needed anything. They both visited us to suggest outings, give advice about the local customs, and make arrangements. They provided the first grocery shopping outing on the way from the airport and then drove me to a local restaurant for my first dinner. During that driving tour, John drove me past banks and to the local bus terminal. He explained how to use public transportation, which I used often. The next morning I was able to join John and Shirley's family at their church was a great experience. After the first 10 days of exploring the island, John arranged for us to get a rental car. The agent picked us up and took us to the office to complete the paperwork. Without John's encouragement, I never would've attempted to drive - on the left side of the road - but we did it and were able to venture out farther on the island to zipline, tour, and dine. St. Lucia is a very interesting island with many interesting people. If you are looking to learn the local culture rather than just hang out on the beach, I highly recommend renting this beautiful spot that functions as the perfect home base. It is bigger than a hotel room with a cooking kitchen so it's no problem to prepare your own meals. It offers off-street parking if you do dare to drive. It is right on the local bus route in a familiar spot to the drivers so getting picked up and dropped off is no problem. You can still get taxi service once you ride into Castries, but you will appreciate how reasonable the bus is by comparison. For next to nothing you can ride to the several of the beautiful beaches the island has to offer. John also told us about the Friday night local party in Gros Islet which we attended and enjoyed - even tried homemade rum! The unit also offers a private laundry room which was great because we spent two weeks in St. Lucia and were grateful to be able to do laundry. They have additional apartments on site so were also able to get to know other vacationers from around the world.

10/10 Excellent

Oct 21-25/12
This locally owned villa was more than we expected. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The setting and the view of the bay and north end of the island are beautiful, the grounds well maintained. It is safe and comfortable and quiet. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and given a tour of the central city of Castries, shown where and which buses and taxies to use, the supermarket, the local market and banks and given the dos and don'ts of the area. We were given a cell phone to use to book tours, or in case we got lost or needed help. We were taken to a great local restaurant the first evening for a wonderful meal and picked up when we were done which was greatly appreciated after a long day of travelling. The villa is well stocked and very comfortable, including a washing machine. There is lots of information in the villa of things to do in the area. We had no problems getting around and enjoyed what the area had to offer. The owner will recommend things to do and book things for you if you like. A very lovely and relaxing location. We would definitely stay here again.

Views to die for....
As the title says, you can't beat the views. We spent 2 weeks watching life go by in the harbour from the porch on the hillside. We would recommend this place to anyone who is adventurous and looking for something different. It is a 10 min walk down hill to the nearest beach (15 mins coming home!). We walked to town at least one way everyday. It takes about 35 mins each way. We always felt safe walking the streets during the day. The locals were very friendly and helpful. We frequently took the local mini vans along with the locals. Very cheap and convenient way to get around. The only downside is , without a vehicle we were restricted to taxis or staying in at night as John doesn't recommend walking or the local buses at night. We made some changes to our routine and carried on, no problems. Our last day, John arranged for us to buy a day pass at the all inclusive Sandals resort down the hill. Worth every cent! Thanks John and Shirley for your help in making this vacation a memorable one.
