Cavaion Veronese is an unassuming little town nestled between green hills along the staggering Lake Garda. While the town itself has plenty of charm and appeal, with historic buildings and fun festivals, it also provides a wonderful jumping-off point to the appealing Lake Garda region. Breathe in the fresh air, hike in the countryside or rent a car and get out and explore.
The town is located at the far southern end of the lovely Lake Garda. Located in the inland region of the Olive Riviera, the town tumbles down the slopes of Mount Mescal, which rises 1,437 feet (438 meters) above sea level. Take a scenic hike to enjoy panoramic views of Lake Garda.
In the picturesque little town itself, find plenty to keep yourself amused. Learn about the region’s fascinating history at the Cavaion Civic Archaeological Museum or peruse the market, which sets up on Tuesday mornings in the Local Marketplace on Piazza delle Palafitte. Spend lazy afternoons at the many delightful cafés. Excellent restaurants serve traditional cuisine while a good selection of wine bars provide samplings of locally produced wines. Cavaion Veronese sits amid rolling wine country, with row upon row of grapevines in vineyards stretching into the distance.
Take the children to Rio Valli, a small nature-filled water park. Slides and swimming pools will keep them entertained while you relax in the sun with a good book. Alternatively, head to the Grand’Affi Shopping Center, a large retail center, with entertainment and food. The Thermal Park Lake Garda is also worth visiting for its natural hot spring pools and spa.
Cavaion Veronese is located 19 miles (30 kilometers) from Verona and 90 miles (150 kilometers) west of Venice. Both larger cities have international airports. Rent a car to get the most out of a trip to this region, as you will be able to see more of the beautiful sights it offers.
