Wander lush green spaces and visit a modern community center in this beautifully manicured park at the heart of Tulsa’s Pearl District.

Centennial Park is the centerpiece of Tulsa’s historic and eclectic Pearl District. Join the many locals who spend sunny days strolling the paths of this lovely green space, picnicking at its shaded tables or attending events at the park’s large Central Community Center.

Covering an area of almost 12 acres (5 hectares), the park is compact but still offers a wide variety of activities. Hike the 4 miles (6 kilometers) of walking trails that offer picturesque routes all over the space. Admire waterfalls, a scenic pond and a diverse array of trees and flowers as you explore.

Make sure you allow time to stop at the Central Community Center, the jewel of the park. The building opened in 2006 and has been a hub of the Pearl District community ever since. This sprawling red-brick building is 12,500 square feet (1,200 square meters) in size and hosts a wide variety of special events throughout the year. Regular activities include cooking, yoga, tai chi and square dancing classes. Check what is scheduled before you visit, as the program changes regularly.

Bring a camera when you visit Centennial Park to capture the gorgeous views of the Tulsa cityscape presenting a backdrop to the green space. For really beautiful photos, stop at the Vista Deck, which overlooks the pond and is part of the Central Community Center. Ornamental benches scattered throughout the park also provide ideal places for pausing to appreciate your lovely surroundings.

When you are ready for a change of scenery, head back out into the lively streets surrounding the park. Spend some time in the independent cafés and stores that make the Pearl District so popular.

Find Centennial Park just east of Tulsa’s downtown area. Visit some of the other attractions within walking distance too. These include the Woodie Guthrie Center, the Tulsa Art Deco Museum and the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.
