Holidays in the monument combines heritage preservation and tourism. Historically valuable construction tools are taken over, gently renovated and rented as holiday apartments. The model makes a double profit: the monuments get a new future and holidaymakers experience a stay in an extraordinary building. The idea is realized by the foundation Ferien im Baudenkmal (FiB), which was founded in 2005 by the Swiss Homeland Security.
Parking: There is no parking directly at the house. The public parking is located next to the house and is chargeable. The access to the château is guaranteed. You can unload your luggage and shopping in front of the house.
Public transport: From Lausanne take the train direction Brig to Sierre, then take bus 411 in the direction of Sion train station to Réchy Center (4. Stop) or bus 441 direction Vercorin to Réchy Village (10. Stop). The bus stop is 20 meters from Château de R��chy.
Number of persons 4-6: There is a cot (up to 2 years) available. The house sleeps four to six guests (plus baby). The house is entered through the big gate through the passage on the right. In the staircase, which meanders like a spine through the house, it goes into the kitchen. In the 1. Floor there is the living / dining room and on the 2nd floor two single rooms connected by a door and a double room with an additional sofa bed. On the mezzanine floors you will find shower / WC. The floors are made of wood and stone which is why we recommend good slippers.
Garden: The house has a south-facing outdoor space, which is equipped with a table and chairs and a south-facing balcony. The house is located in the middle of Réchy, not far from spectacular nature.

Château de Réchy - stately residence from the 16th century
History & Information
The first foundations of the Château de Réchy date back to the 16th century. Century; the upper northwest quarter became in the 18. Century added. According to oral tradition, this imposing building served as lodging for local lords who visited the Bishop of Sion. The plastered façade with painted rectangles (reminiscent of stone blocks) and a dark wood upper decorated with beautiful inscriptions gives Château de Réchy that very special character often found in old buildings in central Valais. Various details suggest that it was initially probably two adjoining houses and that this place was already well before the 16th century. Century has been built. The Château de Réchy, however, was built towards the end of the century to a large extent (new). Thus, the turret in the south comes with its spiral staircase with heels from this era. For construction work, due to the window shape on the end of the 17th or the first half of the 18th Century date, the first floor was slightly changed.
renovation
Renovation work on the Château de Réchy has been carried out with great care and in close coordination with the Valais Civic Department. As the building had suffered greatly over time, the first step involved securing the roof and the façade. During nine years, phases of renovation and fundraising alternated until the project was completed in 2010. The apartment, which can be rented today, offers all modern comforts in over 500 years of masonry.

The Château de Réchy is a monument that has been renovated with great respect for the existing substance. The tenant is aware of this and meets the object with care. Although technically state-of-the-art, certain functional details do not conform to current standards and harbor a potential source of danger. These circumstances are known to the renter. The owner, e-domizil and the foundation Ferien im Baudenkmal disclaim all liability.
