Enjoy stunning views and quiet contemplation at this chapel, perched high above Acapulco and marked by a massive white cross.

You can see the iconic white cross of Capilla de la Paz (Chapel of Peace) from almost anywhere in Acapulco. Trek up to the actual site to reward yourself with incredible views of the city and surrounding area in a uniquely tranquil setting.

The chapel itself is very simple and lets its surroundings take center stage. It is non-denominational and all inclusive. Walk inside the clean A-frame structure and enjoy its light, airy atmosphere. Look out through the front wall, made entirely of glass, to the cross and Acapulco below.

The outside is just as serene as the inside. Wander through the chapel gardens. Immerse yourself in the tranquility of cascading fountains and lush blooms. Walk close to the massive cross, which stands over 130 feet (39 meters) high.

Plan your visit to coincide with sunset. From your elevated vantage point, you have a unique view of the sun sinking below Acapulco Bay. Get a perfect photo opportunity at Las Manos de la Hermandad. This iconic sculpture by famed artist Claudio Favier features two clasped hands beckoning toward the heavens. If you time it right, the hands perfectly frame the setting sun. Be prepared to jostle for a spot with the other tourists to get this shot.

Regardless of the time of day that you visit, the views are unparalleled. Look out across Acapulco Bay to the city below. See the beaches in the Golden Zone and the lush mountains beyond. Directly in front of the bay, enjoy views of Isla de la Roqueta. This picturesque island is known for its snorkeling and hiking, along with a zoo and lighthouse.

Consider hiring a driver to take you up the steep roads to the Capilla de la Paz. Sit back and enjoy the scenery as you ascend. The route takes you through the exclusive Las Brisas neighborhood. Admire the beautiful estates and houses that seem to cling to the mountainside.

Visit Capilla de la Paz daily. The church closes for a few hours in the afternoon, but you can explore the grounds any time of day. There is no admission fee.
