Stunning Mountain Lake, Private Forest, Beautiful 4 BR & 4 BA

Montlake is a unique mountain lake formed millions of years ago. It is one of the very few natural lakes in Tennessee. Our Montlake Retreat is a very spacious home with about 20 acres of wooded grounds. There are trails around the lake, and there is a waterfall directly across the lake from the terrace. We are family-oriented, but also welcome special interest groups, such as rock climbers, sports teams, fishermen (up to three boats), weddings, reunions. etc.

Montlake has four bedrooms, four baths, living room, library, great room/dining room, kitchen, and laundry room. There are two fireplaces (library and great room) and a large deck above the terrace. It is a long, rambling house, so there is plenty of privacy for everyone. The master bath has a jetted tub and separate shower, as well as a large walk-in closet and bidet. The other three baths have toilets, sinks, and tub-showers. The laundry room has large capacity (front-loading) washer and dryer. The terrace overlooks the lake and is a pleasant place to bask in the sun or gather around a campfire. Added bonus for the kids: If you hike all the way around the lake, you are entitled to ring the antique bell!

Unique beautiful scenery - anwesome experience!
Hostess was very responsive. Our families had a great stay while visiting for a family wedding in Soddy Daisy. The property is so unique with the walking trail around the lake. Very spacious and well-suited for several families to gather.

Lovely mountain top home
We had about six family members coming up for a wedding. This house had plenty of bedrooms and beds and bathrooms. It was too cold to sit out back but it has a beautiful view. We actually talked about coming back in the fall and stay in another weekend. Everything was wonderful!

Fantastic property
It was our first visit to the area and we couldn’t ask for a better place to stay. Situated on a bluff above a lake with trails down to the lake it was a beautiful place to stay and hang out with family. The house was very spacious and matched the photos. Mariela and Herschel were wonderful hosts! The house and property were beautiful. We all enjoyed the lake and the hiking trails. When Herschel came for a minor repair, he stayed for a while and told us the history of Montlake. This was our second stay and it won't be out last.

There were 8 of us. The house is very spacious and comfortable! The kitchen was well stocked with pans and dishes. With 4 bedrooms and 4 baths we were able to spread out and have our own space. Mariella, the owner, was extremely helpful every time we had questions. She even took the time to put fresh cut flowers on the table and entryway! Such a thoughtful touch! The lake was beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and listening to the waterfall. We walked around the lake several times and rang the bell!
