The Coach House is one of two holiday cottages situated in the grounds of Heathfield Estate. The building used to house the coaches and horses for the main house and has a lot of character, with its cobbled front courtyard and arched wooden doors. The sitting room is generously sized and has high ceilings, exposed beams, and a woodburning stove. It is the ideal place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring and enjoying the beauty of the area. The kitchen dining room is also large and has high ceilings and exposed beams. It is fully equipped with granite work tops, dishwasher, two ovens, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and all utensils. It is perfect for casual dining and festive meals. The four double bedrooms can accommodate 8 people. Three of the bedrooms can be configured to sleep either two individuals or a couple. The house has three private garden areas: a lovely covered terrace bordering onto the south facing lawn with beautiful views over the estate garden, a walled garden with a garden room and a cobbled courtyard ideal for al fresco dining in the evening – all wonderful places to socialize, relax and unwind. Heathfield Estate is located within the New Forest National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The New Forest is a paradise for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, with its country pubs, horse-riding, bike-riding and walking trails. You will be amazed by the wildlife and scenery of the forest. Heathfield Estate covers 14 acres and has a rural feel, but it is also close to both the city and the coast.
The New Forest National Park is one of the largest remaining forests in England. The forest was created by William I in about 1079 for the royal hunt. He and his successors hunted the deer that still live in the forest. They are shy creatures but you might be lucky enough to spot one around Heathfield. Wild ponies and donkeys roam the open heath in the New Forest area. The ponies are one of our best-loved native breeds, it is their grazing that maintains the open character of the forest. The New Forest is famous for its ancient trees. You can see beech trees that are 400 years old, oaks that are 800 years old, and even some yew trees that are said to be 1000 years old, that were here when William I and his descendants used the forest for hunting.
