Lovely, simple, secluded (and a great view)
We spent a week in early September (three friends) and couldn't ask for a more pictoresque and relaxing place. The house is spacious, clean, and refreshing in its simplicity. Great kitchen with a big common room, every bedroom with its own outside access and its own breezy bathroom. The veranda and the pool were all we needed during the day.

Paradise in abruzzo mountains
The villa is outstanding with a crystal clear pool outside. It is tucked away in the country surrounded by fields with amazing views of the mountains. The villa has everything you need. The kitchen is large with all the kitchen utensils you require. Bedrooms are all large and had there own fans as it does get hot at night. Each bedroom has its own bathroom which is a big plus for families. There is also a gas bbq outside. There is more than enough loungers for all guests to use. There is a welcome pack which is very helpful. Mila was on hand to answer any questions or help with anything we needed. WIFI in the the villa was excellent. Basically my family and I had an excellent holiday.

The Villa was lovely. It was a bit hard to find using the directions but google maps really helped. It is a beautiful spot and quite a bit to do in the area in terms of natural scenery. Local food is good. The kitchen at the villa was really well stocked with utensils and was a pleasure to cook in. There were quite a lot of bugs but only to be expected in the countryside in summer. The pool is fantastic and the new sun loungers really comfortable and great for reading because of the adjustable screens. Disposing of general rubbish was a bit tricky as the bins at the top of the hill were full at times-an encouragement to produce less waste I guess. The communication with Mila was very good and she and Luca were very helpful. I did receive messages through home and away prior to arriving saying there was no internet at the property which wasn’t the case. WiFi was good. I would recommend this villa and would stay there again.

Great location in the country but still close to facilities. Really good pool and house was really well designed and set up. The 3 bathrooms are a real winner. The location and locals are great very friendly and accommodating. If you like a rural retreat with an very good pool you won't go wrong. Mila and the team made our stay very welcoming and really assisted in identifying local places to see and enjoy.

wonderfull villa, nice view, great pool, quiet and remote
The villa is great, good bedrooms and (3!) bathrooms. All equipment and amenities available and working well. The location is beautifull with a nice view. For people that want to do daytrips: it takes some time to get in and out, nice winding drive though. We recommend a day trip to Gran Sasso / Campo Imperatore. We loved the pool which we used all day. During our stay brandnew high quality chairs were delivered. The host Mila is very responsive and easy to contact.

Spent a great time in Italy - charming house and pool
The roads and directions to the house were kinda hard to drive/to find.Arriving until its still daytime is recommended.Plan some more time to get to the house because of the street conditions. Once you get there the little key box works easily. The house is very nice and charming. As soon as you open all doors it gets much needed fresh air and sunlight. It is fully equipped which is pretty good with kids. One bedroom is right next to the other (family-friendly), one is on the other side of the house. We were six persons and had enough space to be with each other and to have some time by ourselves. There are plenty of activities to do in the area. The little guide with regional advises and information helped out a lot. You will find this one in the house. The pool was kinda nice.It starts with lower water to deeper. It gets cleaned once a week. This can be kinda hard with using the pool a lot and having a lot of insects around. Also the beach chairs need to be renewed, but they are acceptable. But look forward to the nice new grill for bbq time.If you have kids you should take some outdoor toys with you.To get to places takes some time.there are not many things to do with kids within the next half hour. The next bigger grocery market is an half hr drive. The little village right next to the house is tiny but with a nice weekly market. Other small villages have these too. Adorable. Our stay was very nice though. A variety of relaxing, sightseeing in the nearer areas (Rome is 2.5hrs away for a day trip), pool-time.The sea had nice water,a long nice sandy way to walk in with kids.nice but expensive beaches if you ll need to rent an umbrella.Over all: whatever you need, the housekeeper is a very nice lady. She will try to help you out with anything you ll need.So we are thankful for a great stay and would definitely recommend this place.

Wonderful!
The villa was good value and a great place to get away from it all. A glorious private pool, a divine garden with a wonderful array of beautiful flowers, olive trees and wild life. A perfectly appointed and well equipped property and a view to die for. The villa is well well located to explore the fabulous surrounding Abruzzo countryside. We recommend a trip to Campo Imperatore and the Grand Sasso National Park. We loved our time there and we hope to visit again one day soon.

Beautiful, tranquil setting in a wonderful area
The villa is very large and spacious with a beautiful swimming pool and a well equipped kitchen. The view from the garden is stunning and it's very peaceful. This is the ideal place to get away from it all and discover the real heart of Italy. It's not a commercial area and you will rarely see other tourists. Civitella Casanova is a beautiful old village with several lovely restaurants, a supermarket, butchers, bakers, two bars, florists and a few other nice shops. The local sausages made by the village butcher are exquisite and you must try Arrosticini at Macalusa. We spent many happy hours by the lovely swimming pool or cooking local produce in the fabulous kitchen. The villa is much larger than the photos suggest. There is a very comprehensive file with lots of details about restaurants, markets and things to do nearby which was very useful. The property manager is very helpfull and will go out of her way to make sure you are well looked after and have all the information you need. There is lovely wildlife in the garden and we saw pretty green lizards every day and a flock of Sand Martins which swooped down for a dip in the pool several times a day! Our only criticisms are easily corrected by the owner. Directions to the villa need to be much more accurate especially as with late flights to Pescara, like us you may not reach the villa until the early hours of the morning and it is very hard to find in the dark. One of the bathrooms needs some work but the other two are lovely. The garden furniture looks a bit old and tired and needs replacing or a good varnish. The plant on the pergola in the garden looks beautiful but is an insect magnet! We had to sweep the patio three times a day as the fallen flowers attracted a lot of ants and the flowers on the plant attracted a lot of flies. It's the country so you expect insects but probably not the best idea to have a big plant which attracts them right outside the back door in the area where you want to sit and eat. If these small details were corrected it would be a first rate villa. Overall we had a lovely holiday, in our favourite part of Italy and didn't want to leave!

Excellent experience! Very nice house, fully equipped and gorgeous location!
I went with my brother and my parents and we all enjoyed our stay! The house is spacious and have everything you need for your stay. The pool area and the view is incredible! Each bedroom has its private bathroom and they all have very good size with direct access to the garden. The kitchen and the living room is also good and have accessto the garden/pool. Everything was clean and well maintained. In the nearby village, Civitella Casanova you can find what you need as far as food etc. Our hosts made sure that everything was ok, which we appreciated.

Wunderbares Haus in wunderbarer Umgebung.

Peaceful & Private
Exceptionally well equipped house for a holiday rental, very spacious indeed and would highly recommend it if looking for a relaxing break. Although an identical house close by it is private in aspect, is not overlooked either from the road (behind and above the house) and has a very pleasant view over the valley to a vineyard and olive grove and the Maiella mountains in the distance. Human activity consisted of the farmer on the far side of the valley spraying the olives on 2 days, we heard sheep and a shepherd in the valley the first day, and that was mostly it apart from the occasional vehicle passing on the road and the man who services the pool weekly! If you want a truly peaceful, relaxing, quiet and very private break, away from it all, then this is it! There are 3 bedrooms (2 ensuite) and a bathroom, large living/kitchen area with plenty seating, very good showers and water pressure. Bed linen may not be to the standard of the rest of the house but this is only a niggle and a suggestion to owner. Also mosquito screens/bed nets would be good. Bring a net for over bed, this is the country and lots of stagnant water generating hungry biting bugs. Directions to the house from Civitella were good but finding Civitella itself, if relying on Google Maps, is fraught with frustration as every contrada of the town confuses it. Maybe try adding Contrada Vallone. Road signs are often missing/incomplete at junctions and the road surfaces are truly appalling over a very large area in these hills, which according to locals is due to the 2009 earthquake in Aquilia and winter rains/snow. A big plus is the absence of tourists and the simple, honest and friendly local people. La Fenice (2km) being a case in point. Don't be put off by the somewhat neglected exterior. Good truffle/mushroom pasta, (la Mama will make ravioli to order), and the son makes pizze in a proper wood-fired oven and does meat alla brace. All very honest fare to a good standard in a local eatery where there is a genuinely friendly warm welcome, (and the biggest surprise was by far the best quality vino sfuso I've tasted in 40 years of travels around every corner of Italy too) and the cost of everything?....about a third of what we'd pay in Ireland. (not sure if English spoken) Pasta and meat predominate and we missed fish and lighter foods (more widely available on Fridays) but did not get to the higher end restaurants on this visit but we would certainly like to return here .

Nice location in remote area
We traveled in a combination of family and friends, 4 adults and a child of 9 years. Vallone Stone House provided all we could ask for and more: a well equipped kitchen and bed-rooms, a terrace with grill and lovely view into the hills and mountains of Abruzzo and a great pool. The house is situated downhill from the road, a bit hard to find at first, with only one other house nearby between vineyards and olive trees. Of course, in this situation insects (as described in other reviews) cannot be avoided but it never got out of hand; mesh on the windows would have been a nice extra, however. It should be mentioned that the inside-pictures of the property on this page do not do it a great favor: the place is bigger and much nicer looking than it seems. As we mainly came for rest we did not explore the region much. It was, however, much greener than expected (the mountains seemed to have rain and thunderstorm at least every other day) and very remote. Road quality was generally fine. Shopping is easy, either in the village which has a surprising amount of shops for its size or in the supermarket in Penne (about 25 minutes drive). We enjoyed the quality of the local products to the fullest.

Erholsamer ruhiger Aufenthalt
Empfehlenswerte Unterkunft.
