They say the best places take your breath away. At Garden of the Gods Resort and Club, that may be the altitude—but oh, what a view to gasp for. Perched at 6,400 ft, this Colorado Springs retreat isn’t for the faint of lungs—but conquer the climb, and you’re richly rewarded. The altitude may test your body, but the attitude of the place—and its people—is pure soul therapy. The rooms are spacious enough to fake a Zoom call convincingly. The bathrooms? Large enough for a full-blown makeup tutorial—lighting included for your Insta reel. One suspects the Kissing Camels (yes, the rock formation) might peek in for contouring tips. The iconic red rocks feel so close you could serenade them. The main attraction is just 3 minutes away (or a dramatic hop-skip-lunge, if you insist). On clear nights, stargazing with the SkyView app is an added delight. Location-wise, it’s perfect: Manitou Springs and Pike’s Peak are just 15 minutes away, as are restaurants and diversions—should you crave enchiladas over enlightenment. Two queen beds easily housed our quartet, and yoga gear was provided for those inclined to greet the sun—or nap near it. The spa and yoga sessions we skipped, drawn outdoors by Colorado’s natural charm. The resort itself? Infinity pool, hot tub, sauna, gym, and a calm that makes meditation seem redundant. The staff? Warm, intuitive, and genuinely helpful. Verdict: If altitude isn’t your nemesis, this place will elevate more than just your spirit.
