Open Concept 4 Bedroom Cottage Overlooking The Southwest River

Sunset Shanty is a fantastic new cottage located on a beautiful, large lot overlooking the Southwest River.  This one-level vacation home is open, spacious, and offers endless, breathtaking sunsets.

The floor-to-ceiling west-facing windows in the living room offer stunning views of the river.  The adjoining dining area has seating for 6 and is also situated to provide guests with a lovely water view.  The kitchen is custom-made, spacious and fully equipped. The kitchen island offers additional prep space as well as extra seating. Patio doors lead from the dining/kitchen areas to the expansive wrap-around deck offering an abundance of natural light and easy access to the BBQ, and deck furniture.

Also facing westerly are the water-view master bedroom and 1 of the 3 additional bedrooms.  The master bedroom, with a king bed, has a full ensuite (walk-in shower, sink and toilet). It also has patio doors leading directly onto the expansive wrap-around deck.  The second bedroom on the west side has a queen bed and view of the water.

The east side of the cottage provides 2 additional bedrooms and a second full bathroom (tub/shower, sink and toilet). One bedroom has a full bed, and the other has a queen bed.

The wrap-around deck is perfect for outdoor living. The covered pergola, patio table & chairs, deck chairs and BBQ create a welcoming exterior space. Sunset Shanty is nicely decorated to give its guests that coastal feeling.

This beautiful cottage is complete with internet, satellite, BBQ, full size washer and dryer, towels, linens, beach towels, and board games.

Just a short drive from Sunset Shanty are golf courses, fabulous restaurants, fresh seafood, live entertainment, ceilidhs, shopping, antiquing, water park, amusement park and so much more!

May birthday weekend!
Quiet, peaceful home with large indoor and outdoor common areas near the lovely town of Kensington, PEI. We stayed early in the season, so it was a bit too chilly to enjoy the outdoor fire pit, but there were bags of wood available. The cool breezes also made the floors cold as the home is raised on posts. The internet was surprisingly stable, but the satellite TV was not working while we were there.

Peaceful Retreat
The house is located on a beautiful spot overlooking the river. It is quiet and gorgeous. The deck is spacious and a great spot for both meals and relaxing. We were there only four days so didn’t cook but there is a large grill outside.

This property is located very central on PEI, great starting point for each days adventure. Although the instructions to get to this property lead us to the wrong house, they need better directions and maybe a sign or two directing you to their property. Once there, it was great for 6 adults. Really enjoyed our stay.

Breathtaking view
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. It has all the amenities, and the beds were comfortable for good nights sleep. The space is bright and peaceful and a perfect size for our family. Great location between Kensington and Stanley Bridge. Loved the wrap around deck, was a perfect spot for morning coffee and after dinner watching that gorgeous PEI sunset.

A spotless property in a quiet location. Lovely views and sunsets over the water. We went in late September and wonder what it might have been in the heat of July/August without AC although there are lots of overhead fans. Loved the big spaces of the kitchen. Beautiful Sunsets and Great Place to Stay
Wonderful cottage with a beautiful wraparound deck with amazing views. Loads of sun, and lots of room, well cleaned, modern, and well maintained. 4 great sized bedrooms along with a huge living area / kitchen space made it easy for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teenagers) to kick back and relax. Location is surprisingly convenient, and made for a great home base as we explored PEI. All the amenities we could ask for and more were available with easy access and departure details. Though not directly on the water, the view is absolutely fantastic!

Loved the deck! The bedrooms on the west facing(?) side were extremely hot at night. I'm thinking that with global warming, it will be a good investment to install some form of air-conditioning, e.g., mini-splits..

Lovely place to stay.
This place is lovely and the view is stunning, but I do wish there was water access. Everything you need is provided, and the rental company are easy to connect with, if need be. It's a little hard to find, due to the long grass, and is about 15 minutes away from Cavendish. We were a party of 7 and it worked just fine for us.

Great property. Overall experience was excellent. Only complaint was the hay we had to drive through in the “driveway”. This needs to be kept short as it is a fire hazard.
