Retreat at Saviour Trail, New Mexico for your Reunion or Family get away

Home is about 1500 square feet, set on 10 acres of pasture and woodlands. Carefully decorated for our family—welcoming; seems like home. Knotty pine cabinets and trim with Wood and carpet floors. Gorgeous; private view of the mountains, (7700 elevation). Very peaceful and somewhat secluded. Lots of wildlife: we see elk, deer, and turkey on the property, and have heard mountain lions, and seen evidence of bear. When in season we have several varieties of visiting hummingbirds. Bring your 4 wheelers, bikes, and skies. In the winter there is a nearby (5 mile) ski area; ice-skating in the village; tubing and sledding hills on the property. Ruidoso and White Sands are about 40 miles away. Trail maps for hiking and riding in the vicinity, including maps of Lincoln National Forest are available. Restaurant and shopping guide in the village (Cloudcroft, 7 miles away). Golf-course available at the Lodge, great restaurant!
4-Wheel Drive Vehicle is advisable during the winter!
Horses and pets (for a fee) are allowed.

During the winter months 4 wheel drive is advisable.

Beautiful view
Nice place. Beautiful view. We saw deer in the morning. The pool table is in an unfinished basement and there was no pool as listed in profile.

Overall
The location is great. We liked the patio. The house needs a good cleaning, especially kitchen cabinet handles, and the floor. The kitchen cabinets need to be emptied from all the half full old condiments and food, same with the fridge. Icemaker didn't work. We couldn't find a barbecue or ping-pong table. Ping pong table is advertised in the details. Pool table is located below the house in the unfinished garage with low ceiling, the smell was moist. Bear fur on the wall and old leather sofa and cow chair in the living room is not everybodies style.

I had to add a night to our weekend stay and this cabin was available. It was easy to find - great directions. The cabin was nice and had all you would expect. One recommendation was I had a hard time finding how to connect to the WiFi - but I did eventually find it.

Charming getaway
Lovely older cabin with modern necessities, (heat, hot water, electric.) Semi-secluded but near main road to Cloudcroft. Beautiful views off front porch where deer and elk appear in the evening and early morning. Pool table in the basement provided entertainment. Overall a comfortable, rustic getaway in the Lincoln National Forest. Make sure you get detailed instructions on how to access the cabin.

Great place
March 8 through 11 2024 Great host. The only issue we had was there was no Internet or TV. My wife and I had to entertain each other in other ways, egads. 😀. We got our wish for snow, 6 inches. I loved shoveling it. It's a great property to walk around. While there we saw about a dozen deer and 30 elk. We plan on coming back in the fall.

The best Christmas Day
This cabin was everything we wanted to have for an unforgettable Christmas Day. The cabin was cozy and homey. The fireplace was picturesque with the big windows behind it and the trees outside. It was easy to find and had planty of space to park a huge Chevy Express 15 passenger van. The property owner was very easy to get a hold of and very very sweet and kind. This was a most excellent experience. Highly recommend.

This little retreat is absolutely magical! It’s everything you could want in a cabin, plus, the added bonus of snow! The wood stove put off ample cozy heat for the beautiful winter day we had!

Great cabin in a short drive from Cloudcroft!
This property was well equipped and very comfortable for our family. The cabin was tucked back against the forrest- close to neighbors but still secluded. We saw lots of wildlife during our stay and enjoyed the benefits of being close to town for restaurants, but also enjoyed disconnecting. It felt like staying at grandmas cabin in the woods!

A retreat from the city and work!
This home was such a nice surprise, from its location, open floor plan, scenery, wildlife, and roomy bedrooms. We enjoyed the fire pit while looking at the stars. Pool table was so much fun. Owner was easy to communicate with. We are already trying to plan another get away trip so we can enjoy some snow while sitting in the rocking chairs, on the deck and looking and the forest while sipping hot cocoa.

Property was a little more run down that shows in the pictures from the outside. Communication with the property manager/owner was a little difficult as it would take her long to respond to questions. The inside of the property was really nice and it was clean other than a lot of spiders and little dusty. Overall it was good stay and we all had a great time.

Locked out and lack of communication
The check in instructions given only consisted of driving directions and failed to share how we would be getting into the property. The host said for key access “Instructions already given” and then “Let yourselves in.” However, when we arrived we were locked out. We tried calling the host and messaging but were sent directly to voicemail. We even had VRBO costumer support reach out and they were unable to reach them. The rental itself was beautiful but the check in instructions were vague and incomplete and due to being locked out and absolutely no way to access the host my family and I - including two toddlers - had to book another rental last minute. I would strongly advise any one to not book with these VRBO hosts. Completely unprofessional and inconvenient to say the least.

Such a lovely stay. One of the best!
The property was clean and fully stocked...nothing is missing that you might need to make a meal or feel at home. The beds are really comfortable, there are plenty of towels, pillows, blankets, linens...and there are even travel sized toiletries in case you forgot yours! (One caution...if you do not like animal hides...there are a couple as part of the decor.) There is a gated area for dogs and a large fenced area for horses. We loved the front porch rocking chairs and porch swings best of all...seeing the sunrise in the morning and looking at the stars at night. The area is somewhat remote with a country/forest vibe...but we were close enough to Cloudcroft and right off the highway to get anywhere we wanted within 30 or so minutes. We also loved that on the way in, we got to see goats and cows, chickens and ducks. Our last day, we got to visit with some donkeys and a mini horse too. It was such a beautiful area, comfortable accommodations, and the host is genuine, generous, and readily available. Thank you so very much!
