I was hugely looking forward to staying at the delta Marriott. The listing made it look amazing. Unfortunately my stay didn’t live up to my expectations. First the positives….the staff are fabulous and extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms have been renovated and are nice.
Now the negatives: The google map listing ( Supplied via clicking my Expedia booking) repeatedly sends you to the wrong address….first to a housing estate in central Colchester and then to a service station on the A12. The hotel acknowledged they are aware of this issue.
My next gripe was the bar area isn’t very cosy at all. It’s very much a transiant hotel….workers overnighting. My final gripe is the worst…..I had a room with interlocking doors…..I could her the woman in the next room like she was in with me….poor woman was very ill. I know this because she couldn’t stop coughing…..so loudly in fact that I had to turn my tv up…..then she was on the phone on loud speaker….so I heard all her relationship woes as she spoke to her best friend….i then heard her go to the toilet….and have a shower. (Yes really). Really really poor.
The final nail in the coffin was I had booked specifically because they had a pool…..and this was out of order since Christmas….no note on the listing to indicate this. I have heard this was a migrant hotel…,and you can still tell this.
